Anthony, who is not Native Hawaiian, learned to love taro from his step-grandfather, a Native Hawaiian who is the last kuleana taro farmer in Waianae Valley." Why would we think different of him? Kūʻē! And how come he doesnʻt call out the copʻs name? That oppressive mentality of making people feel unworthy, esp. for a cop who supposedly has to uphold the law would say such a thing (was he haole, or rather not from Hawaii?) is reinforcing that stereotype. We donʻt need more people like that cop to remain there! Nazism exists, just in different forms and people look at it differently. But thatʻs exactly what that police person was doing. But mahalo for all the details including reminding us of the judicial language in Hawaii!

Look I totally agree with you. If you want the land back then take it back. King David Kalakaua was weak and didn’t fight back. I mean Queen Liliʻuokalani put up resistance but didn’t succeed. In all of history land gets conquered for one reason or another but complaining about it won’t help.

My understanding is that after Queen Lili’uokalani was forced at gunpoint to abdicate, the Hawai’ian people did tell her they would fight to keep their independence. She said not to, the Americans would just kill you all. She may have been thinking of what happened to all the native people on the North American continent. And looking at what is happening in Gaza right now, you can see the genocide that happens when a people resist a colonizing power. But, seeing the support for Palestine among so many young American college students, maybe there has been a change in people’s attitudes toward this bullying? It’s important to keep pushing back. Thanks for not giving up!

@@swirledworld340 That's what I meant: The Hawai'ians wisely did not resist the takeover, so they survived althugh many have had to move to the US "Mainland" because it has become too expensive for them to live in their homeland after all the developers got finished with it. . Whereas, the Paletinians, by resisting, are in danger of being genocided off the face of the earth and their land completely taken by the invading foreigners. .
