I am a huge fan of these new graphics Aidan - very helpful to have the 4 charts next to each other. A big thumbs up from me for the extended presentation as well - I would watch for an hour or more with no hesitation, as I always feel I am learning with your presentations. Keep up the excellent work. Paul
Excellent and informative Deep Dive Aidan. Had heard of the MJO, but didn't really know how it affected our weather... know a bit more now! Great work👍
Aidan, D/D was very educational today especially on world weather elsewhere effecting UK. Please have more of this and my children really enjoyed it. Thanks
Outstanding analysis explaining complicated concepts about as simply as it is possible to do. It must take an awful lot of preparation, let alone presentation time. A tour de force 🙂
A cracking presentation Aidan, explanation of the MJO into why and how was presented in a plain understandable format. An interesting session, looking forward to next weeks episode.
Great deep dive. Love the global approach to the weather and the interconnectivity of all the systems. Please do continue teaching us such interesting concepts and theories!
Really excellent to have a global view of things, and a super explanation of the MJO and how it affects the weather globally, even if I did have to watch it a second time to grasp all the detail.
Thank you Aidan as always for this incredible deep dive. I really look forward to these and really appreciate the effort that goes into them. Thank you to you and the Met Office team!
Can’t believe it’s nearly two years of deep dives. Absolutely appointment viewing every Tuesday. Great job today. Time to give Honor a go. If possible send Annie love from us met heads.
I would have never known that deep dive would turn out to be so gripping 😂 Great explanations to the Pacific weather and how it influences our weather ! Great update on our 10 day trend . Really appreciate deep dive Aidan 🫶💐💐 Thank you
Nature appreciates she’s been handing out some seriously wet weather last year & this year, she’s trying to balance things up with a welcomed sustained dry period lol. Fantastic explanation as always, the intense rain over the Indian and Pacific oceans was fascinating especially how it migrates around the globe. 👏👏👏
A truly fascinating and informative DD today Aidan, absolutely amazing! Certainly learned something today with the LJO! I really love DDs and can’t believe they’ve been running for 2 years, amazing! Please keep them going, I’d be lost without all the learning they provide. Very many thanks indeed Aidan, I thoroughly enjoyed it, very much appreciated. Many thanks also to the Met Office. Take care everyone
I love these deep dives, it’s so interesting to see how the weather in one part of the world will affect the weather here. Thank you very much for your wonderful work ❤️
Fascinating as always . Thankyou . Maybe a last chance for a paddle in the sea down at Dawlish for you guys . lol . Regards to the team at the Met . I always look forward to the deep dive .
this is brilliant, I rarely comment on UA-cam, especially the part with model to describe the globe, it seems like holding the whole world in one hand, and easy to visualize, easy to grasp the concept. Keep goinggg guys
Thanks for a fascinating deep dive. I've never quite gotten to grips with the MJO's potential impacts on our weather, so really pleased to have an explainer. References to scientific papers always very welcome!
Absolutely excellent presentation. Really enjoyable to see weather reported properly and not over simplified. The TV long stopped even showing pressure charts.
I love this channel! I am an amateur astrophotographer, based in Liverpool, England ( there's another Liverpool in Australia, in case you were wondering! ) so I am constantly checking the weather! here in NW England the clouds are an almost constant problem! I waited over 6 months for a cloud free night sky last year!! This year I've only had 11 cloud free or mostly cloud free nights!! ALL YEAR!! I hate the weather here in NW England!! LOL.
Brilliant. I remember reading 20+ years ago about teleconnections linked to el nino but at the time I could find no explanation of the underlying mechanisms. This deep dive provides both a striking illustration and a convincing explanation. Thank you!
Epic dive, so informative. I like the new interface and use of the older weather symbols to explain what the cloud cover could mean. The deep dive has encouraged me to learn more about weather.
Thank you, that was fascinating. I was very curious to see how quantum entanglement found its way into our meteorological future. Excellent presentation as usual. I’ve not yet missed a Deep Dive and have never been disappointed - which is more than I can say for our entropic weather.
Well that was absolutely fasinating! I recently was working down in new zealand for a few months and took a big interest in the weater down there what influences it, they have a YT channel called WeatherWatchTV and do some quite deatiled forcasts similar to the deep dive, and i noticed they where talking alot about El nino and La Niña. So seeing this today was fab and tying together the weather around the world! I have to say as well that im sure you guys are inspiring the next generation of meterologists with your longer quality shows. Massive Well Done!
Dun Laoghaire, Ireland, enjoyed some lovely sunshine around 13:30 today, and the warmth was palpable when basking in the direct sunlight, sheltered from any sea breezes.
Brilliant Aiden. Loved the quantum mechanics and I would be happy with more of that lol. Loved the explanation of when the MJO can affect our weather but also when its effect is too weak. I look forward to seeing if you explain any more "wavy" activity - especially if you include the wave mechanics of their propagation into the stratosphere and mesosphere.
Thank you for the in-depth view of the worldwide weather. I enjoyed Alex Deakin's look at the weather predictions in the press, where they provide a bleak view of "Thousands of miles of snow to batter the UK" and how they are sometimes unfounded.
Hopefully it will be a winter forecast and looking at past winters next week, and very interesting and a 41 min video, what a treat for me, well because I wanna become a meteorologist
Thank you for the extended Deep Dive. I don't mind the weather too much. It's a little gloomy, but at least it's not freezing cold, blowing a gale, or pouring down. It will be interesting to see whether there's a return of the westerlies in mid-November and if so, whether it carries on through Christmas.
Everything is connected, I really enjoyed this episode. Would like to hear more about the future climate. Is it true that the warmer the atmosphere gets, the more likely it gets for low and high pressure to get stuck at the same place for a longer time, causing flooding and draught?
Great explanation and graphics! 6:50 that cut-off low has been wandering south and north for some days, we call it DANA or gota fría. I think these systems are the reason why September and October are the most rainy in eastern Spain.
Thanks for posting. As an aside perhaps a Deep Dive could include how weather forecasting methodology has developed over the years and how accuracy has improved ; perhaps not a whole presentation, more an occasional dip into history of forecasting. Cheers.
These graphics are getting better and better. I can see coastlines now. I appreciated the intelligent thumbnail too! Can honestly say it's the best hook I've encountered so far. (Further to explanations and seasonal follies - is there the possibility of a docu-style Mid-Winter release on how these wonderful new graphics came into being?) May I suggest that when you do the explanations for things like the Madden-Julian - I'm loving them - that you have the graphics ready in advance so that they flow better alongside your dialog? I'm finding the stop/start effect of the present format, (which I know will improve as you become fully familiar with presentation possibilities) to be offputting and breaking up my concentration. Looking fwd to the tease reveal.
That was so interesting. I learned lots tonight. Thank you i always love these types of deap dives. Never too old for school. Gutted this heat wave would have been epic in july/August
oh goody! can I guess what our surprise [interface] is going to be? I have never kept track of the weather as much as I do now. I have rainfall radar and jetstream tabs open permanently on my browser and able to read the weather with practice but the best education and analysis is right here on your UA-cam channel. Thank you so much, for such a great service. ;)
Another great video. I learnt about the weather influence systems. Would be great to learn some more of these in the future. Now back to studying met 😅
I also appreciate these deep dives, but honestly no fault of yours of course, but sometimes I've not been able to bear the d...n weather esp this year. So I just end up not wanting to know. Could you put an order in for next summer to actually arrive... thanks
Thanks for update today. I have been seeing a lot of chat about the AMOC collapsing. Would be good to see what the impact would be on our weather, assuming if it is colder we'd have less rain as less evaporation?
Thank you very interesting deep dive, that naughty jet stream having fun & games again, Aiden the new graphics are really good, well done to all the team
So online pub quiz next Tues? LOL Seriously tks for explaining in that MJO why the Eastern US has zero rn right now. Philadelphia PA recording its record-long streak of rainless days as of next Friday, I think. Scary times.
Really appreciate these deep dives, huge props to yourself Aidan and the rest of the team at met office for doing these videos
Fantastic, educational and informative video. Really appreciate these, they're unmatched anywhere on the internet!
I said today, i thought it was almost like a good TV series. And then watched this one! Lol
I am a huge fan of these new graphics Aidan - very helpful to have the 4 charts next to each other. A big thumbs up from me for the extended presentation as well - I would watch for an hour or more with no hesitation, as I always feel I am learning with your presentations. Excellent and informative Deep Dive Aidan. Had heard of the MJO, but didn't really know how it affected our weather... know a bit more now! Great work👍
41 minutes? We are treated today 😂
Treat... or trick? I'm sure that'll depend on your point of view :)

Outstanding analysis explaining complicated concepts about as simply as it is possible to do. It must take an awful lot of preparation, let alone presentation time. A tour de force 🙂
Really enjoyed that. Learned something and all done in one take. Thanks
The most impressive deep dive I have seen! 🤯👏 Well done and thanks!
A cracking presentation Aidan, explanation of the MJO into why and how was presented in a plain understandable format. An interesting session, looking forward to next weeks episode.
Fabulous weather, many thanks. Can't wait until next Tuesday.
I’ll be here next week! (I’m here every week if I’m honest) love these videos, Thank you all 😊
Ur the best Met Office❤❤
Great deep dive. Love the global approach to the weather and the interconnectivity of all the systems. Please do continue teaching us such interesting concepts and theories!
The new graphics work a treat!
No! Not more than enough. So interesting, keep it up please. What a tool to plan work schedules etc. Many thanks Aiden.
Wow - is there no end to the Met Office team's talents! Quantum Entanglement explained!! We had the butterfly effect fairly recently!!! I'm in awe!
Can’t believe it’s nearly two years of deep dives. Absolutely appointment viewing every Tuesday. Great job today. Time to give Honor a go. If possible send Annie love from us met heads.
I would have never known that deep dive would turn out to be so gripping 😂
Great explanations to the Pacific weather and how it influences our weather ! Great update on our 10 day trend .
Really appreciate deep dive Aidan 🫶💐💐
Thank you
From will it rain tomorrow to quantum entanglement and back again in 41 minutes! Admiral Fitzroy would be proud of you Aidan. Fantastic. 😀😀😀😀😀
Really interesting, thanks.
I have learned a lot today. Always a great pleasure to watch these Deep Dives and glean a little more info. Thank you Aidan and your great team !
ive been whatching your deep dive for 2 years know and all of them have brung alot of suprises thanks met office keep it up (:
Wow what a fabulous DD. Love these extended DD and learning how weather patterns across the planet impact us. Well done to all those involved
Thankyou for another very informative deep dive.⛅

A really exciting presentation, thank you
40 minute deep dive, love this format 😍😍
Fantastic explanation of the MJO and how it impacts the UK.
Graphics get better every week!
I really enjoyed this more in depth look at what is happening with the weather right now and why. I really appreciate all you do ❤❤❤
Great stuff Aidan.Thank you so much.
Really like the 4 charts side by side showing different parameters! Thanks for another great DD.
That was a brilliant deep dive. Thank you for explaining the MJO. Still learning lots.

Fantastic insight. Look forward to Tuesday's now 🎉
Totally awesome presentation! 😃🤓😎

18 in 'ull today = Record?!
Not quite. Just to give you an idea - the record warmest Halloween was 23.6C and that was in 2014 (Gravesend, Kent and Kew Gardens, London).
Its so blinking mild here in London roll on some cold weather 😊
