More info not in the video: To claim a border base, assuming the timer is not counting down still, any infantry can go to EITHER side of the pair and press E. If each faction is camping the side in their hex waiting for the timer it's just down to luck or who is spamming E faster. You can push into the enemy hex and clear their side to keep them from claiming but they will likely have a closer spawn than you so this can be hard to do. Once both sides of a border base pair are killed on a border that is still contested, an invisible timer of duration 45-60 minutes starts. Once this timer finishes either side can claim the pair again. Until the border's contested status is removed (wardens build a TH/relic in the colonial hex, or vice versa), this will continue to happen. This is why you see Timer map posts so your faction knows when to go camp the husk. As the defenders this can feel a lot like a game of whack-a-mole, constantly rotating between border bases to keep them dead or attempt to claim them for yourself. And due to the invasion mechanic explained in the video, invaders do not always build the first TH/relic they kill so this can go on for quite a while.
Something that should be said is invasion bonus is limited in time it is believed to only last between 4-12 hours but is extremely hard to say for sure
Me as a new player doing partisan work: “Oh rad, this last enemy territory in our hex is completely undefended and has no shirts. Time to grab a Havoc charge and take it!”
I remember border hotels. As a warden player back in 109, after Port of Rime fell, it was impossible getting into Stilcan shelf owing to the fact that the border was a choke point. All they had to do was build MG and AT bunkers along the border and it was nigh impossible to cross into as infantry or tank. It only took a couple attempts and a dozen GBs, the sole Warden BS in Clanshead and a lot of sweaty warden players yelling on the mic. Good times
The border hotel is not gone. Weathering Halls this war had a border hotel while you've had this video posted. Built by MSA. Complete with minefields, BEATS, garrisons, the works.
The naval hex bit has me wonders if a vehicle that can be stocked deploy into an encampment could be a solution. Basically a land variant of an anchored large ship. (Such a vehicle would probably have to be cheap, with less room for gear than a ship. Perhaps even serving as a one way vehicle, i.e. it can’t be packed back up)
Not usually a person who complains about the game but it’s so annoying that the ALTS are so prevalent this war. Really ruined my experience because collies think they’re so good when in reality it’s just blatant cheating. It happens on both sides but just feels so impactful on the warden side bc of our lower pop.
