►Synopsis ：
In the 9th year of Wude Period of Tang Dynasty, Li Changge, the daughter of the former crown prince, accidentally escaped from the military coup in the palace. During her escape, Changge encountered the secret service agent of a grassland tribe, Ashina Sun, who was under the pseudonym of Qin Zhun. They got to know each other through a fight and their affection grew stronger. Changge smashed a conspiracy in Youzhou. However, at the same time, her identity was revealed, and she went to Shuozhou to escape capture. She hid herself beside Gongsun Heng, the governor of Shuozhou, to help him resist the invasion of the grassland forces, but she did not expect that the enemy general was Qin Zhun. Changge was shocked and distressed to discover Qin’s real identity. However, the situation in Yuzhou is in great danger. In order to gain time for reinforcements, Li Changge negotiated with Sun. For the sake of the overall situation, she was willing to be a prisoner and taken to the grassland. Then she accidentally learned that the Great Khan had an ulterior motive. Changge decided to temporarily put aside her personal vengeance, and risk her life to save the situation. In order to save Changge, Sun disobeyed the order of the Great Khan, but they were far apart from each other after that. After going through the arduous exile, Changge gradually understood the principle of the invincibility of the benevolent, and finally put aside her personal grievances. After discovering that the former forces of Sui Dynasty were the manipulators behind the scenes, Changge and Sun teamed up to protect the peace of Tang Dynasty and the grassland. They finally came to realize their deep affections towards each other and went to confront the crisis ahead.

Ha Dou's character is amazing. And the writer did great to him. He is a follower of goodness and righteousness. In all this, he's learning and growing. Additionally, he wasn't responsible for the other princess. It was shuyu

My heart broke when they labelled Changga a 'TRAITOR'! She didn't deserve it at all but at the same time I'm proud of her.
although born into royalty, changga sure has a hard life!
Those were the best lines in the whole series-when the senior advisor told Dilraba after the governor and his wife died:”Do you understand what the home is? What country is? What the people are? What the world is?” A real tear jerker…and a hats off to the 5,000 year Chinese culture! Great screenwriting!
A'shuns identity revealation is most painful part to Changge..but she didn't know he saved her many times too to be alive

@Miss pearl_ changgas family was short lived and they never really showed genuine emotions.
Changge suffered a lot of trauma. The grief for the people she loved the most was unbearable. She went through a lot of hardships that nobody she can rely on and believed but only herself. Very strong woman. I guess woman are strong in anyways, whatever stones throw at her she will rise up and fight .
Even the cold blooded Hao du felt uncomfortable when the people were treating changge like that

Other women walk towards the man of their lives, down the isle, preferably on a beautiful warm summer's day, with flowers in her hair and hand and butterflies in her stomach, and seeing him, hopes and dreams of happiness igniting in her heart.
For Changge, she walks towards her man without knowing it's him, through a battlefield, in snow, adorned in mourning robes, with a dead man's head in her hands, resentment and loss churning in her stomach. Seeing him, her truth, her dreams and her heart all just shatters before our and his eyes, just like that!

That is the difference between crown prince and changge. She's not relying on her status as princess but making her own way, learning humility along the way and that her status doesn't put her above the contribution of others. I think Hain Do is starting to see that, he looks to be struggling with his foster father teaching

Hao Du doesn't even know why he's chasing Changge. He knows and sees she's suffering every day. She hasn't done anything to anyone back in her homeland since she gave back that stupid seal they all wanted so much. She didn't do anything to them when she had it. On top of that, he knows she's telling the truth about what happened to her. He can see she's not evil, but all he cares about is the stupid orders that his evil adoptive father gave him.
At first, all I focused on was her heart shattering away to a million pieces as she saw his face, and him hurting so much to see her hurt and disappointment.
Then I'm look at the entire scene again and realise how much he's set in motion to come to that point. Every decision he's made so far protected her, and lead him to the point of taking her away from danger, hurt and fears that the land of Tang is holding for her. Now, I can see his wheels in motion even at the surrender discussion with the governor.
And then his words to Changge at the surrender scene. I can read so much between the lines. More than anything, "everything depends on whether you are going to be coming with me or not. I asked you nicely so many times. I tried. And you kept denying me and keeping me wait. Now I'm done waiting and I'd play dirty if that's what it takes to take you away". God Ah'Sun, if there ever was a man, you are that one!!! You are shooting so many birds with a single damn Arrow!!!!
He literally says "now you can't stay here now (once you become my slave), and I don't make me wait, I don't have patience" 🤭
His character has started to transform a lot earlier in the plot.
You described it so well! My heart broke for both of them at the surrender scene. Sun did his absolute best to keep her away from the dangers of this place. The meddler that she is, she never listens 😂. He would have settled for her to be safe somewhere else even if she didn’t come with him to the grasslands. If she had left this place, he wouldn’t have had to worry. But from the moment he realised that Registrar Li could actually be her and that Tu Kashe is dead set on killing her, her own people hunting her down to kill her, and then to the point he sees her on the battle wall, his mind was made up. He had to do it. Forcing her to agree to be his slave (although we know that was all for show) as a condition to leaving the people unharmed was his only option. It took a lot of steeling himself against her disappointment and hatred to issue that demand, and then to hear her accept her fate and see her tears rolling down her face. Gosh, his heart must have broken 10 times over! 😢 Think Mujin also sort of understands at this point that Sun cares for this friend and probably feels bad for them.

uhm yeah for the sake of romance, but if she's a guy lol it would be a different matter. It's war and survival of the fittest. And in history, brutality is the norm, it's even shown at 13:11. Ashile and Tang had been at each other's throats without compromise for several years and just because Sun is infatuated with her since he knows she's a woman and a princess he just suddenly compromised with the governor's terms? Will he still go to defy the Khan? Imagine if Changge wasn't there, he would still take Shuozhou by force. They've already infiltrated before wearing soldier's uniforms and burned the granary. Everything is collapsing for the city with no reinforcement from Changan. The governor deserves the award for this episode since he's been defending the city even before Changge came and his sacrifice of his life for the people is truly remarkable. They just want to romanticize Sun's defying the Khan and Changge's finding out his identity. 🙄
@@Lionspel Why would it be "at each other's throats" when it is the Ashile that keep attacking Shuozhuo? The governor even have to apologize for defending the city and thank him when Sun plans to occupy the city just so he wouldn't z/auter and ens/afe the citizens
wow! the surrender scene is breathtaking. the cinematography is so stylised.
the facial expressions from both ML and FML in this scene are absolutely superb. she is surprised and hurt when he reveals his identity. his gaze is completely affixed to her. the pains and longings for her are clearly imprinted all over his face.
A very iconic scene. It's prob one of my most favorite scenes in the entire drama.

Simply love the white blossoms, white attire, the white hair band, the pristine white curtains and decors, the bleak white landscape and on top of that the swhirling white snows prior to and during the surrender scene. Such remarkable cinematography _ similar to the funeral procession in Nothing Gold Can Stay. A superb piece of art

Aah ashile he is playing his card's well, he knows that changge will hate him now so he wants her as his slave inorder to reconcile their friendship. And we all no where it will eventually leads to...😁🥰
...no. Not to reconcile. Sun's goal is to actually make her hate him. Changge is at the lowest point in her life and has no more will to live. Making her his slave and getting her to hate him is how he can help light a fire in her and get her to live on. It also accomplishes several other things. His soldiers want her dead so taking her along as their slave to "humiliate" her would appease their anger. Her people also now view her as a traitor and would harm her so she can no longer stay there. He takes her along to help ensure she survives. For the time being, his only interest is her survival. He's not thinking about himself. Before they leave, he even makes up the false narrative that she attempted to murder them(the enemies) and died in the process, in order to give her a good reputation to her own people so they could find redeeming qualities in her. Even though he's supposed to be an enemy, Sun is a good man who cares deeply about Changge.

I am very impressed by Governor's loyalty and his love for his wife. They really showed how a couple should trust eo. When they held hands i understood both were going to die together but will not let their daughter be the part of that sacrifice. I loved their story💗
