I'm so glad you got to the groups of 5, I was literally yelling at the screen, "Do 4, 5's" LOL!!! The classroom looks amazing and I'm so glad you're in 3rd this year, I work with 3rd and 4th graders so I'm so excited for your videos this year!!
My daughter is in the 3rd grade this year I’m so excited.
You are giving my HUGE Robin Buckley from Stranger Things vibes. Its great
The border made a huge difference for the family board!! I love it! I also pulled students to the “carpet” or front of the room teaching third grade. They loved it! They are more mature than first graders but still love the small things like that.
My 3rd graders always came to the floor and loved it. Keep a place for that.
Couple of things…
1. You give me BIG Robin from Stranger Things vibes.
2. I’m so glad I discovered your channel this back-to-school season!
3. Your classroom setup vids have been giving me LIFE while I setup (and vlog!) my own classroom!
4. I’ll be teaching 3rd grade this year, too!
💜💜💜
Moving into new classroom
My third graders love to read on the big carpet and lean against the wall. During independent reading time (45 minutes), I let them read anywhere they want in the room and most of them choose the big rug.
Oh, to have only 20 students again would be a dream, love the groups! Right now I have 32 on my 4th grade roster. Last year was 33. Some my 4th graders are almost adult size by the end of the year. I miss having only 20 students! Looking good!
Wow 33 is so many!! Hope you have a great start of the school year!
Amazing!!! The class is really coming together!!! 👏🏻❤️
If only we could actually speed up the time when we are moving the classroom furniture like in all of these set up videos 🤪🤣
It’s looking good! I am switching from third to first, can’t wait to start working in my room.
We're flip flopping grades!! Hope your set up goes smoothly! You'll love first!!
Beautiful clasroom!!…Double monitor is the best! Once
you start using it you will need it Lol
Sometimes, Goodwill stores have used chapter books for a really cheap price!
Ask your kinder and 1st teams if they want them. Those letter borders make great letter tracing and word building centers.
It’s coming together well! Love your shirt! My husband and I both graduated from AUBURN, and our 3rd child graduates from AU next Saturday! War Eagle!😊
Looks great! In the space where they put their backpacks, maybe move the second row of numbers lower so they are closer to the second row of hooks. The top row of book bags are gonna cover the numbers when the kids hang them up. Just a suggestion.
Yessss I still need to nail that number placement down but I'm kind of waiting to figure out how many students I'll have too!
Watching mid way and I was thinking you can do the 6 (3 facing each other) then one on the end facing forward. That will get you 7. Then you can have 2 groups of 7 and middle group of 6.
Random question but do you have a video about what was in the math binders?! I'm needing ideas!!
Love you
You could always put the groups at an angle so they only have to turn their heads a little bit rather than their whole body. It also will give you more space and if you needed you could make a 5th group so there are only 4 in each group and now everyone has a partner for turn and talk without moving. Just an idea. As for lining up if you use the tiles they could all stand on the same row of tiles each person on a tile. That’s haw we do it in my building.
I love the idea of a friends and family board! I've never seen or heard of that before. Do the kids bring in any pictures that they want? Just one picture per student?
I will have students bring in pictures of their families! They get to share them with the class and them we hang them all year! As the year goes on I add pictures of them with classmates as a school family 😊
4 groups of 5 have the tables with 4 and add another desk to the end
Good morning:)
I love your classroom and your tips. Where did you buy your green and blue crates on wheels?
The crates are from Walmart, the cart that holds them I found at a garage sale years ago and have never been able to find a link for something similar
I love watching these vlogs- thanks for doing them!! So I know you didn’t put them up in this video, but I love the idea of a color hanging above your groups for an easy visual when you call them. Where did you get the “puffs” or whatever you called them? Thanks!!
Searching “hanging pom poms” or “party tissue pom poms” on Amazon! I’ve also seen some in the party section in the Dollar Tree!
Would the numbers for the backpacks fit in the adhesive pickets from Target? Maybe they would stick!
This is great for me going in the classroom after retiring from ESS. I like the puff balls to identify the groups. I have not been able to find them. Any suggestions?

For the friends and family board it might be cool to have cork up there then you could put it up with tacks or hot glue small clothespins to tacks and be able to clip on family pictures as needed
I don’t know if you have ever used nano double sided tape, it can be reused and if it get dirty you can wash it and reuse it again. It is sold on Amazon for $8.84 at the moment.
You have an awesome
Firm believer that whole group instruction should be on the carpet where all students have a spot to sit- they should have a partner for turn and talk on the carpet as well! I taught all grades in elementary for over 12 yrs and no matter the age, whole group on carpet is key!
I may see if I can adjust some of the groups to add a sit spot area!
Hi! Where did you get the skinny pocket charts that you hung on the aqua racks?
Where did you get the blue rack at 19:33? That looks like it might be great to hang smaller anchor charts.
I actually made them with PVC pipes! Here is a link to the tutorial: www.differentiationstationcreations.com/new-mini-anchor-chart-stand/
OMG I feel like making table groups work is always so confusing and hard for me😂 I change it up so many times before I’m happy with it! Lol
Do groups of fives
What do you put on you Family and friends board?
I will have students bring in pictures of their families! They get to share them with the class and them we hang them all year! As the year goes on I add pictures of them with classmates as a school family 😊
Before you've had your horse shoe table by your desk. Do you prefer it separate from your desk?
Last year that worked out best for my set up! This year I want to try it infant of the whiteboard so I can use the board to write and hang reference charts to use during instruction! I've like it both ways, just depends on the room 😊
@@mrs_katie_in_elementary I've tried it both ways too - I prefer it stacked up next to my desk so that everything I need is within finger tip reach. It never fails when my teacher table is on the other side of my room, the book I need, pencil, etc etc etc is not nearby. I cannot have two copies of everything - so I always keep my teacher table by my desk.
Do you have to have a contingency plan of you get another student? Or does your school not often get transfers?
I will need to make some new student packets some time in these first few weeks just in case! What do you include in yours? 😊
Please tell me where to get your cursive alphabet wall line with the different brands? It’s so cute, I need it for my classroom. I’m not having any luck online.
Hey Evette! If you message me on instagram I'll get you the info!
Hey Kaitlyn! If you message me on instagram I'll get you the info!
tip for the hot glue gun when adding a new stick add hot glue to the end of the new stick and then you don't have to worry about it flopping out while your working and it hasn't made it all the way in.
Are you doing other classroom video
Mrs kaite how are you doing today
What is the black box on the cupboard near the door?
@@margs5758 oh yes! The tall thing is the chromebook charging station!
I am a third grade teacher and I pull my kiddos to the front carpet for whole group instruction. I think with the space you have up there you could definitely pull some students, or give them a choice to move up if they would prefer instead of always at their desks.
Was just coming to add this! I teach fourth and almost always pull my kids to the rug for whole group, unless they really need a desktop work space. A few of my team teachers have their kids sit at desks for instruction. Do what works for you and your kids! 😊
I’m fourth grade & I still do instruction on the carpet too.
Ahh this is so good to hear!! I'm gonna try to add some carpet space too!
