I was a trolley bus driver in 1996 in Boston. So years later, after I had moved to the Hartford area and started a family, of course I took my family to my favorite city. Sometimes I would park under the Common, and we would walk to whatever I had planned for the day. One time we were headed to the aquarium to do the "Codzilla" boat ride...so I made up a fun walking tour for the kids. I went a roundabout way through a part of Beacon Hill, and showed my daughters the many different door knockers on the front doors of the homes along the way...they loved it!
Nice tour! I just have to point out that the whole hill did not belong to one man, unless you count Reverend William Blackstone before the Puritans arrived. John Hancock owned a size able portion of land that was bought from him and developed, but he did not own the whole hill. Also, the homes in Louisbourg Sqr are Greek Revival, not Federal style.
I thought he was talking about Copley. Didn't he own like 19 acres, sold it cheaply while he was abroad and then tried to get fairer price after the fact? I'm no expert.
Thank you for this video. I grew up on Beacon Hill. Nice walk down memory lane.

😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😎😎😎🤩
it is correctly pronounced Louisburg with the "s" sounded as it is named after a Canadian/British city.
I live on pinckney street and btw you know nothing about us. The common is a not high atop the hill. It's not even part of the hill.
It's infested with rats
Cool it with the antisemitic remarks.
Gobbersmack I wasn't referring to Jewish people at all. I was referring to a movie called the departed.
Your comment shows just how racist you are
@@christophermoltisanti7656 I think he was being purposefully anti Semitic.
