My grandson is half Russian. My daughter’s husband was Russian. He’s called me Baba Nee Nee since he could talk. Then all the other grandkids called me that, too! 💖💕💖

The book comes from a TV show we have here in the UK call ‘Q.I.’ which stands for Quite Interesting, it’s a panel show where guests get asked questions based on a theme for that particular episode and it usually shows that what we think we know is wrong! General Ignorance is the final round of each show and is a quick-fire round that almost always catches the guests out with their usually wrong answers. Keep up the good work Jeanie, I discovered your channel last year and really enjoy what you do.
I'm usually a silent watched but i just wanted to say that your ASMR channel holds a special place in my heart. in the nicest and most positive way ever when I watch your videos I listen to you and think of you as the Nan I dont have. I've never been close to any grandparent so listening to you brings me that comfort I feel being close to grandparents would feel like. i love Apollo trying to steal the limelight too! ❤ lots of love and I appreciate you so much
Hi 😊😊 In Brazil we say "vovó" for grandma. The first part of the word, "vo" is pronounced the same way as the "vo" in the word "vote". In the second part, "vó", which can also be used as a short for vovó, the "ó" sounds similar to the letter "o" in the word airport ❤
Jeannie, you are such an intelligent woman. You express your power with words, and that makes your beauty stand out even more. A real refresh compared to what is marketed. Your videos always relax me and teach me something new. Greetings from Serbia 🇷🇸

The ending where you were doing the macarena with Apollo reminded me of the "papa's party" trend. Don't know if you've seen it but it's adorable. So are you and Apollo. 😊😊
I agree. My favorite ASMR artists don't waste time with tapping, crinkles, etc. Which drive me nuts on the microphones. Not relaxing. Voices and demos are the best, not pretend makeup, hair cutting, etc. Such a waste. Jeannie has it nailed.
In Urdu language (from Pakistan) we have separate terms for maternal and paternal grandmother. Maternal grandmothers are called "Naanee" and Paternal grandmother are called "Daadee".
When I was little, my great grandparents from Bulgaria lived with us. They were my Baba (grandma) and Dede (grandpa). ❤ Jeannie I love that I found your channel, you are very comforting and I sometimes catch myself laughing out loud (love the Countess 😂), but please keep doing what you're doing.
You remind me of my grandma too. I don't remember all that much about her, I was young when she passed and she was young too, only 60. But she was really kind and gentle and vibrant and let us kids have so much fun. She always had a drawer full of candy that she kept fully stocked for the grandkids. She loved fashion and beatiful things and she had these slik scarves that were probably expensive but she would tie them to these stick things and let me and my sister run around with them. There was a book we read when we were small where they did that and she would alway indulge us. was really beautiful and elegant and stylish, that is probably the things about you that reminds me most of her. I imagine that if we had a chance to get older together and I got to know her better that she would be very similar to you.
In scotland me and my family called my wee grandma wee nana. Loved my wee nana. We were very alike and looked similar, she unfortunately passed away around 10yr ago. And I still walk past her old house and have such great memories. Her wake was probably one of the best nights I've ever had, we ended up going up to my parents after being at the pub with an indian takeaway, and had a food fight in my parents. We all just laughed. Ok mega clean up day after. But what a blast. My wee nana. Xxxx
Your amazing. And your cat looks so content. I have a Male cat too called Bear. Hes so sooky and cute. Love your videos. You bring so much comfort to me. Xxx
To answer the question about grandmas at the start- I'm a Mexican-Filipino-American. In Spanish, it's typically abuelita, not abuela as it's seen as too proper I'm pretty sure (it'd be like calling your parents Madre or Padre, so Apa, Ama, or any other variant is used). But my whole family calls my abuelita "Mama (her name)". We call her this as she was kind of the head of the family haha- she was very strong willed throughout her life! While in Tagalog (filipino language), I call my grandma "Lola"! 😊
Jeannie, I just want you to know that I absolutely love your videos 💖 You’re too young to give me grandma vibes, but you definitely remind me of my sweet older aunts. Watching your videos feels so comforting 🫶🏽
I would rather be ignorant and keep learning than arrogant and stop. Great video as always I think would go with Aunt Jeannie before Grandma though you share the same great qualities that my grandmother has. ❤️
Hello Jeannie . I’m usually a silent watcher but I wanted to say thank you so much for all the content that you make for all of us out there . I really love your Channel . You have the most soothing Voice 🧡 Secondly in Moroccan’s Arabic we say “Mui” or “Muima” for grandma and in French it’s “Mamie” . As a bi National it’s the names that I use to call my grandmas. All the best 🌞
Hi Jennie ❤ thank you for such wonderful video as always 😊 I'm from Argentina and in Spanish we usually call our granmas "abue", although it's short for Abuela. Since we have many italians descendants (not me tho, my granma was Polish), many people call their granmas "Nonna". We have descendants of many cultures and countries so we call our granmas differently depending on the household. In my case, my family were Eastern Europe Jewish, so I'd call her "Bobe". 🤷
I’m from Hungary and I call my grandmothers Mama. You remind me of them. I would like to say thank you, your videos give me hope (I have bipolar disorder and depression.) 🌹
Sputnik and Apollo are brothers from the same litter that we rescued. They do look alike. We used to differentiate by saying “Sputnik has socks! Apollo doesn’t.” 🥰
I’ve wanted to say this but was unsure until you said you love being called grandmother terms. I’m 29 and fortunate enough to still have 3 grandparents alive, but my paternal grandmother is far gone with Alzheimer’s. She started to decline badly when her husband of 60 years passed a few years ago. Anyway, her mind is pretty much gone now. It has been absolutely devastating to witness and I miss her much at times. In some ways you remind me of her and I find it extremely comforting.
Hi Jeannie! My grandmother was from Japan and we called her Chiisai which means tiny, small or pocket size. It was a term of endearment for the elder women on that side. We lost her last year and my little guy still asks about his Chiisai 💜
What a wonderful idea for a video ! Your voice is always super comforting. The Romanian word for Grandma is ' bunică ' , but there are also other words like 'buni' or 'mamaia' , somehow the equivalent to 'grannie' .❤
My mother became a first time grandma when I had my daughter 8 years ago. She was adamant from the get-go that we not assign her any name and instead see what our daughter would naturally call her when she began to talk. Until then we’d just tell her she was her grandmother. Sure enough, after a while my daughter saw her one day and said, “Gaga,” and that’s how she became Gaga to my daughter and son. We’ve since lost her but she’ll always be Gaga. Side note: Apollo has the absolute loudest purrs I’ve ever heard and he’s adorable! 😻
Hello I live in New Zealand, I am an indigenous māori girl and in our language one word for grandma is kuia, you pronounce the word like coo-e-a We call any woman/wahine older than us Kuia not only for our grandma but for the ones we love & have much respect for. So goodnight Kuia 🤎

Dear Jeannie, Marco Polo was Italian. Venice ruled over most of the Adriatic Sea in those times, so it wasn’t that uncommon for the child of a Venetian merchant to be born in a “colony”, that didn’t mean he was less Italian.
@@JeannieBASMR Well yes. It’s not like in the Americas where if you are born there then you are automatically American, it’s your bloodline that matters, not the place. Anyways most sources claim he was born in Venice (the city not its dominions), of course by a Venetian family. It’s also a fact that what is nowdays the Croatian coastline was Italian (and I mean also inhabited by Italians) until WW2.
Oh your videos are wonderful. They are always so interesting and comforting; you are so inimitably classy and elegant. You have made such a gorgeous little home for us all on your channel and I thank you! 💞
Thank you for yet another amazing video! I love putting these videos on in the background while scheduling my work weeks, and it's much appreciated to help me relax! I hope you're doing amazing Jeannie!
Try googling Marco Polo and you'll find lots of back and forth about whether Marco Polo was born in Croatia. In any event, Croatia was a colony of Italy at the time, so he would still have been considered Italian. The family had been in Venice for centuries. Furthermore, being "from" somewhere usually refers to where you grew up, not ncesssarily where you were born. But despite the factoidm this was a fun video and I'm tempted to read the book. Thanks for this and your many other soothing and tasteful videos. You are a class act!
I got the mosquito and reindeer ones right 😆 In Finland we call our grandmas either mummo or mummi, depending on the dialect. Some people also say "isoäiti" which translates to grandmother. I knew the reindeer question because there's a lot of reindeer herders here in Lapland and Sami people have been herding reindeer here wayyy before Finland even existed
Really enjoyed this video! I love books like this, with fun and interesting topics that make you think. I don’t think I got one question correct, but oh well, it was fun to try. Thank you again for a great video! I’ll be watching for the next one, and looking forward to see what you choose to inspire us with next! Have a blessed week😊
Jeannie does sound like a comforting mother ❤ In france we call grand mothers "grand-mères" but mostly "Mamie" which i guess is the equivalent of "nanna" in english 😊
in Romanian we say: Bunică (romanian is a Latin language so it’s read the way it’s written, also the “ă” is equal to the “a” used before a noun). What I love about our language though is that there are so many ways to say what is basically the same word, mainly because the language was influenced by a lot of others. Another one could be “Babă” which is a term that’s considered rude but still used in rural areas. “Bunicuță” is also a form often used, to which I can only equate the English word “granny”. Love from Romania 🇷🇴!!
Hi Jeannie! I was so excited to see a new video from you, thank you for bringing us so much lovely calming comfort! Hello dear Jeannie! Thank you for another lovely video - by the way Apollo is adorable! I lost my dearest grandmothers 'Bomma' and 'Ma' over 10 years ago and will carry them in my heart forever. Liefs XO Anke
Pain is a source of strength, and essential to build a good leader. A man (and I suppose the other genders) who only knows pleasure or fears pain, may eventually succumb to complacency or indecision or both.

The ending where you were doing the macarena with Apollo reminded me of the "papa's party" trend. Don't know if you've seen it but it's adorable. So are you and Apollo. 😊😊
Thank you so much, luv! 💕💘💕
I lost my grandma last year and you coming on to the scene around the same time was like divine intervention 💜
Aww. That is so kind. I’m so sorry about your grandma.
Oh my god your voice is so relaxing it’s absolutely perfect for ASMR!! ❤❤
Thank you so much!
I agree. My favorite ASMR artists don't waste time with tapping, crinkles, etc. Which drive me nuts on the microphones. Not relaxing. Voices and demos are the best, not pretend makeup, hair cutting, etc. Such a waste. Jeannie has it nailed.
@@o.b.6103 The thing to remember is that there are people who do like all that. 🥰💞🥰
In Cyprus we say “giagia” for grandma
Awesome!! I have a friend who is half Greek and half Syrian and her grandson calls her yia yia. I wonder if it’s the same?
@@JeannieBASMRgia gia is pronounced that way, afaik.
@@oneandonlyjark Ah! Got it! Thank you!!
I loved seeing Apollo! The purring was so calming! Loved this video!
Glad you enjoyed it! I’ll pass this on to Apollo! 😸
In Urdu language (from Pakistan) we have separate terms for maternal and paternal grandmother. Maternal grandmothers are called "Naanee" and Paternal grandmother are called "Daadee".
In Urdu, we use "daddii" for paternal grandmothers and "nanni" for maternal grandmothers.
I love that!! 💕
In Estonian, grandma is vanaema (vonna-emma) and literally translates to "old mother" ❤ another wonderful video Miss Jeannie ❤️
Thank you so much, Megan! I’ll tell the Countess you like her! She will be so pleased! ☺️
Apollo is adorable, he loves your voice, too. 😊
What a beautiful memory! Thank you for sharing this!!
Xxxx
That sounds like such a beautiful memory! Thank you for sharing it with me!! 💗💕💗 And I love her name!
Your amazing. And your cat looks so content. I have a Male cat too called Bear. Hes so sooky and cute. Love your videos. You bring so much comfort to me. Xxx
just in time for my afternoon nap🥳😴
To answer the question about grandmas at the start- I'm a Mexican-Filipino-American. In Spanish, it's typically abuelita, not abuela as it's seen as too proper I'm pretty sure (it'd be like calling your parents Madre or Padre, so Apa, Ama, or any other variant is used). But my whole family calls my abuelita "Mama (her name)". We call her this as she was kind of the head of the family haha- she was very strong willed throughout her life! While in Tagalog (filipino language), I call my grandma "Lola"! 😊
Thank you so much for this!! 💞💕💞💕
Jeannie, I just want you to know that I absolutely love your videos 💖 You’re too young to give me grandma vibes, but you definitely remind me of my sweet older aunts. Watching your videos feels so comforting 🫶🏽
Love that so much! Thank you!
I would rather be ignorant and keep learning than arrogant and stop. Great video as always I think would go with Aunt Jeannie before Grandma though you share the same great qualities that my grandmother has. ❤️
Thanks for this! I appreciate you very much!
My blind dog loves you! I think of you as a woman I would love to know. Your voice is amazing. It comforts everyone at my home. Thank you!!
Aw, give your dog a hug from me!! Thank you for sharing this!!
Thank you so much! I love those names!! 💕
Thank you so much for this!! 💖💕💖
I’m from Hungary and I call my grandmothers Mama. You remind me of them. I would like to say thank you, your videos give me hope (I have bipolar disorder and depression.) 🌹
Love that!
SPUTNIIIK!!! 😻❤😸 Thank you, Jeannie ❤🙏😊 Oh, Its Apollo 🙀 He's, also very cute 💗😻 I thought it's a Sputnik 😸
Sputnik and Apollo are brothers from the same litter that we rescued. They do look alike. We used to differentiate by saying “Sputnik has socks! Apollo doesn’t.” 🥰
@@JeannieBASMR Okay, good to know 😀 thank you for your answer Jeannie ❤😻
I’ve wanted to say this but was unsure until you said you love being called grandmother terms. I’m 29 and fortunate enough to still have 3 grandparents alive, but my paternal grandmother is far gone with Alzheimer’s. She started to decline badly when her husband of 60 years passed a few years ago. Anyway, her mind is pretty much gone now. It has been absolutely devastating to witness and I miss her much at times. In some ways you remind me of her and I find it extremely comforting.
Aww, I’m sorry about your grandma. I hope you have wonderful memories of her when she was in her prime. 💕💖💕
In Italian, grandma is" nonna"...I was born in the UK but I was brought up by my grandparents so I'm very fortunate to be bi lingual ❤😊
im bi too
Awesome!! 💞
Hi Jeannie! My grandmother was from Japan and we called her Chiisai which means tiny, small or pocket size. It was a term of endearment for the elder women on that side. We lost her last year and my little guy still asks about his Chiisai 💜
Aw, I’m so sorry about your Chiisai. Thank you for sharing this with me.
What a wonderful idea for a video ! Your voice is always super comforting.
The Romanian word for Grandma is ' bunică ' , but there are also other words like 'buni' or 'mamaia' , somehow the equivalent to 'grannie' .❤
Oh thank you for this! I love these names!! 💕💖💕
Thank you! And I absolutely love your kitty to hang out with you! ❤ You make me feel happy!
I'm so glad! I’ll also let Apollo know!! 😸
Babcia ❤ you’re so calming and “tingly” the best voice
🥰♥️💖
My mother became a first time grandma when I had my daughter 8 years ago. She was adamant from the get-go that we not assign her any name and instead see what our daughter would naturally call her when she began to talk. Until then we’d just tell her she was her grandmother. Sure enough, after a while my daughter saw her one day and said, “Gaga,” and that’s how she became Gaga to my daughter and son. We’ve since lost her but she’ll always be Gaga.
Side note: Apollo has the absolute loudest purrs I’ve ever heard and he’s adorable! 😻
Awww…Gaga. I love this story so much. Thank you for sharing.
(I told Apollo he was a hit!)
I loved the ending so much ❤️😭❤️ Apollo is the most precious handsome baby panther everrrrr 😭😭😭😭😫🤌 and his wittle purrs 😫
Yes! He’s a panther baby!! Love that!
@@JeannieBASMR right? Lol he looks so exotic. And he loves your cuddles so much 😭😭😭
Greek Americans call grandma “Yaya” and Basque people say “Amuma.” What a sweet snuggly kitty you have! ❤
I love that! I have a Greek friend whose grandson calls her Yia Yia! Now I know why! 💖💖💖
Hello I live in New Zealand, I am an indigenous māori girl and in our language one word for grandma is kuia, you pronounce the word like coo-e-a
We call any woman/wahine older than us Kuia not only for our grandma but for the ones we love & have much respect for. So goodnight Kuia 🤎
Oh wow! That’s awesome!
you slay jeannie 🫶
😁💪🏼
Grandma is ”farmor” in swedish❤
I’d never heard that! Thank you! 💘
I loved everything about this video. Listening to Apollo purr at the end was so tingly.

I'm a librarian and I'm so glad you like library book sales! You'd love our's; last week we had our "buck-a-bag" sale, and this week it's all free (to clean out the book sale room for the second half of the year!). I have maybe taken too many books home this week...
I love books way too much! I try donating them and giving them away, but I still find myself with soooo many! It’s a genetic thing. My parents were the same way! 😂 📚
@@JeannieBASMR I agree that it's genetic; my mother (who is also a librarian) does the same thing! One can never have too many books, and if it ever feels like you do, then that just means it's time to share the love :)

Congrats for your 90k followers! Well deserved 👏 that's huge! Now back to the video!
Thanks a ton!
Ngl that cat was really calming for me! I liked it 😊
I adore you Miss Jeannie. Thank you for your amazing videos. I have been listening to this community for too many years to count. You are my favorite asmr creator. I have to watch all of your videos over and over because I want to listen with intent but never finish a single video. Thank you so much Jeannie. ❤️❤️🇨🇦❤❤
Wow, thank you!
I'm Mexican from the El Paso-Juarez border and I call my grandmother tita ☺️
Dear Jeannie, Marco Polo was Italian. Venice ruled over most of the Adriatic Sea in those times, so it wasn’t that uncommon for the child of a Venetian merchant to be born in a “colony”, that didn’t mean he was less Italian.
I knew Venice rules over there. So - he’s Italian by rule, and Croatian by geography!
Thank you so much! I love this description: A gorgeous little home here…!” You all are the best!
In Bulgaria we call our grandmothers “baba” or “mamie”. Your channel is very comforting, Jeannie. And your cat more so.
Thank you so much! Apollo says thank you, too!
U remind me so much of my nana a very calming presence thank you
So nice of you! Thank you!
Thank you for yet another amazing video! I love putting these videos on in the background while scheduling my work weeks, and it's much appreciated to help me relax! I hope you're doing amazing Jeannie!
I’m so glad you can relax to them!! Have a great week!!!
This is so cool! Thank you for this! And congratulations on getting 2!! 😁
In zulu grandma is pronounced 'Gogo', similar to Nana I think the word was created with children in mind.
💗💘💗
Really enjoyed this video! I love books like this, with fun and interesting topics that make you think. I don’t think I got one question correct, but oh well, it was fun to try. Thank you again for a great video! I’ll be watching for the next one, and looking forward to see what you choose to inspire us with next! Have a blessed week😊
Thank you!! 💗💞
Jeannie does sound like a comforting mother ❤ In france we call grand mothers "grand-mères" but mostly "Mamie" which i guess is the equivalent of "nanna" in english 😊
I’m Puerto Rican, and I used to call my grandma “Abuelita” and my great grandma “Buela” (both variations on “abuela”)
I love that! 💕💖💕
In sweden we say Mormor for our maternal grandmother. Farmor for the paternal.
🥰💖
I love your style - so glad I found you! You are lovely and your voice is so soothing.
Oh thank you! And welcome!!
in Romanian we say: Bunică (romanian is a Latin language so it’s read the way it’s written, also the “ă” is equal to the “a” used before a noun).
Thank you so much for this!! Do you follow Cristina from Old School ASMR Sounds? She is also Romanian. I love her voice! @oldschoolasmrsounds
Hey Jeannie!!! mamó is the Irish for grandma/ granny but most of Ireland speaks English so just Gran or granny
I love this! Thank you!!
In Spanish we say abuela. Ms Jeannie that was a great video, I actually learned something. Ur cat is so cute. Be blessed
Thank you! You too! 💕♥️💕
Hi Jeannie! I was so excited to see a new video from you, thank you for bringing us so much lovely calming comfort!
In my mother tongue, Hungarian, grandmother is Nagymama (Pronounced like Nudge Mama). The direct translation is, literally, Big Mother! Grandfather would be similar as Nagyapa (Nudge Uppa) which is Big Dad :)
Sending lots of love! ♥️
Wonderful! I love learning all this! Thank you! 💖💗💖
aww Jeanie isn't he the sweetest in the world what a cat you got !

Aw the puddy cat! ❤ I loved this video! Maybe you could do more facts in the future x
Pain is a source of strength, and essential to build a good leader. A man (and I suppose the other genders) who only knows pleasure or fears pain, may eventually succumb to complacency or indecision or both.
The alligator joke 😂❤ not in another country but in Texas we call ours Mamaw and Papaw
Omg, I love Apollo 😍, he's beautiful!
Thank you! I’ll let him know! 😁
In Irish we say máthair mhór for grandmother
Mamó for Grandma ❤️❤️
In Mexico we call our grandma 'mama (her first name)' and granpa 'papa ( his first name)' I find it so endearing now that my children (even though we live in the midwest) refer to my parents this way.
