Looks good Dwayne. I think there is still a set screw on the left side of that roller in addition to the cotter pin. It may be on the inside of the arm though.
But how did the original bearing get removed?? I didn’t know Cal Trimmer had a grooves roller design? I thought only Reel Roller’s had one. Great info to know. Thanks, Dwayne!
I removed the bearing. It somewhat of a long story to why but it had to do with when i purchased the grooved roller replacement. The bearing spacers were seized to the original roller bearing. I didn’t need to bearings for the conversion i needed the spacer. This is why i had remove the bearing so i could remove the spacer and reuse them for the kit as the replacement roller does not include new spacers. I appreciate the comment and if you have any additional question be sure to reach out. Thanks for the support 👍🏻
@@dwaynesworldlawn I know you removed it, but how? I saw how you got out the spacer. But it seems like the bearings are in pretty tight. Did you use a bearing removal tool? Maybe I just didn’t see this in the video. I can go back and check it out again. Where are you located? It looks like California or Arizona, with mild Winter temps. Isn’t it nice!
Take a look at the video i just posted. From reel roller. My only recommendation is not to use the axle from the cal trimmer roller but rather get a 2ft long piece of rebar or something similar to punch out the bearing. This will make more sense after watching the reel roller video. I prefer this as i originally damaged the treads on the axle but was able to fix it thereafter. Hope this helps 👍🏻
Grooved is what i prefer. Although you may get slightly better stripe action with a smooth, you will get the feeling of floating when the turf becomes thicker. Any roller is better then none but if i had to choose groove is the way to go 👍🏻

Thanks Scott. I haven’t disassembled it but appreciate the feedback. I appreciate your support as always

@@dwaynesworldlawn definitely helps! Thank you!
Was searching for a recap statement, you still recommended using the split grooved over smooth for residential?

@Dwayne’s World thanks for the fast response! I have a smooth that does great stripes but does certainly start to walk when the PGR been going
