    Literary, devices
    Like food, with spices
    Adds flavor to your writing
    Makes reading, so exciting
    (Repeat 2x)
    Imagery
    It's visual description
Figurative language gets the images mixing
In your brain so you understand reading
    Words paint a scene
    Mind starts heating
    Similes:
    "Like" or "As" to compare
    He's big like a ship
She's as strong as a bear
    Brittle like a chip
    As fierce as a lion
Like an archer with arrows as old as the Mayans!
    Next comes the metaphor

    • @extraudoknight
      @extraudoknight Рік тому +1

      What you getting clever for
      One thing is another
The snake is a leather cord
      Mother is an ocean
      Dad’s magic potion
      That means I’m a sea
      I’m a clear liquid lotion
      ‘Extended metaphor’
      Song began with it
      There when it ended
      Two things are compared
      Throughout the enter story
      Example: Anger to a sweater
      Life to the sun’s glory
Giving humans quality to non-human creation
This is the definition of personification
      My couch is patient
      My TV speakers hatred

My english teacher showed my class this song back in 2016-2017 to help us learn literary devices... I'm graduating highschool this year (2023) and I still hum this song TO THIS DAY when I'm thinking about literary devices in English classes LOL

Today as a starter task we had to give examples of literary devices, examples and their definitions and of course I did ‘metaphor’ and of course, this song lives rent free in my head and so I wrote ‘Metaphor - the snake is a leather cord’. My teacher is obsessed with this song and called me out to say how impressed she was I remembered it back from year seven! To be completely fair, me and my sister have listened to this song many times together as it’s just so catchy.

I have looked at countless videos (forgive the hyperbole) for a good one for my substitute teacher to show my elementary poetry class while I'm out of town, and this is THE FIRST ONE that got personification RIGHT, instead of confusing it with anthropomorphism. THANK YOU!!!

Yo, literary devices. It's like food with spices. Adds flavor to your writing, makes reading so exciting.
Literary devices, it's like food with spices. Adds flavor to your writing, makes reading so exciting.
Imagery is visual descriptions, figurative language gets the images mixing in your brain so you understand the reading. Words paint a scene as the mind starts heating.
Similes use "like" or "as" to compare. He's big like a ship, she's as strong as a bear. I'm brittle like a chip but as fierce as a lion. I'm like an archer with arrows or as old as the Mayans.
Next comes the metaphor. What you getting clever for? One thing is another. The snake is a leather cord. Mother is an ocean, Dad's a magic potion, that means I'm a sea, I'm a clear liquid lotion.
Sometimes a solid metaphor's extended. A song began with it, and it's there when it ended. Two things are compared throughout the whole entire story. Anger to a sweater, life to the sun's glory.
Literary devices. It's like food with spices. Adds flavor to your writing, makes reading so exciting. Literary devices. It's like food with spices. Adds flavor to your writing, makes reading so exciting.
Giving human qualities to non-human creations, this is the definition of personification. My couch is patient. My TV speaks hatred. The sun and moon laugh at the big space station.
Hyperbole: you're simply an exaggerated statement. People stretch the truth to press the point that they're making. I saw a million stars in the sky last night. The fish I caught was 60 feet long. Yeah, right.
Alliteration: repeat the sound you're making. Slowly you can see the pattern swiftly overtaken. Jumping Jimmy jacked a jar of jolly juicy jujubes. Came and cut a clip of it, then cast it onto UA-cam.
Dialect: it's what we got next. It's certain language from a country or a sect. Y'all feelin' okay? I put pop in my Yoplait. Fo sho I ain't shovelin', I'm chillin' on my snowday.
Literary devices. It's like food with spices. Add flavor to your writing, makes reading so exciting. Literary devices. It's like food with spices. Adds flavor to your writing, makes reading so exciting.
Boom, boom, boom. It's time to speak with repetition. To spot repeated words takes some basic recognition. To emphasize a point, you repeat a word or phrase. To emphasize a point, same words on display.
The rhyme is the syllables falling into rhyme. It's what's been going on in this song the whole time. If sound corresponds to a sound, the rhyme's working. Gets the kids smirking and librarians lurking.
Allusion is a reference to past piece of writing. You might look back on history to get your mind igniting. Fluffy from Harry Potter is an allusion to the myth. Allusions to the Bible in the modern book's frequent.
Symbolism uses symbols to express ideas or qualities the author's trying to address. A heart stands for love, water stands for emotion. They say eternity is symbolized by the ocean.
Literary devices. It's like food with spices. Adds flavor to your writing, makes reading so exciting. It's literary devices. Adds flavor like spices. Bring the flavor to your writing. Makes reading so exciting. Literary devices. It's like food with spices. Adds flavor to your writing. Makes reading so exciting.
