regarding 1s meta, I keep noticing that the the double flip resets are actually being saved more often than single resets, and I think it's because with single resets it's actually harder to predict when the shot is triggered because usually attackers are simply flying after the ball, whereas the double flip resets might give an "unexpected height" boost to the attack, or perhaps a big angle change in slow air dribles, but that still just means the attack started further away from the goal, meaning that double flip resets are easier to defend than a well set up single reset play. This said, the double flip resets can be excellent against early prejump challenges because the first flip can get you past the challenge, and the second flip can put the ball in net - especially in 2v2 and 3v3, where you're almost guaranteed to be challenged early during an aerial play. But it's kinda logical when you think of it like this: For single flip resets, you basically lob the ball towards net, and get the flip reset asap before you can be challenged, and then it's quite simple and lots of options to just follow the ball which is already headed towards lower part of net. And you can "dance around" that ball on the approach and threaten mustys or a shot at any point or a ground pinch. But with double flip resets, the moment you trigger the shot tends to be less flexible. At the time of getting the second flip, you're usually very comitted to either pulling it off near immediately, or faking it, but the timing of it remains more "obvious" to the defender. This means the defender is essentially just covering less options for when the attack is coming, and can focus on the moment of the second flip
@@lovesmrjarrett Of course. Style points goes to the multi-resets. My comment is kind of a passion of mine, to discuss the meta of Rocket League, beyond just what "Looks clean" :)
its so minuscule but the touch up the wall by diaz at 4:06 in the third game to give him an absolutely perfect pop just barely off the wall but enough that wavey cant challenge is just so *chefs kiss*
Arguably he doesn't score "Punish-goals" though, because in RL commentary the term "punishing" is usually said when a player makes a mistake on their attack or perhaps a greedy/disrespectfull challenge, and the opponent "Punishes the mistake" by scoring a goal regardless
You know what would be cool? Is if twitch chat was integrated with rocket leagues chat so the players can see people’s reactions or tilt off what they’re saying. That would be hilarious 😂
That's great, now imagine a 1v1 game with two opponents each with their chat on either side, so the chatters are just like "fans on the side" celebrating and taunting
Because to challenge there needs to be a moment of weakness in the carry or you'll just get outplayed so if u don't see the chance to challenge then u just have to try and save reactively
I think, and I might be wrong, but I think it's a lot easier to save near the goal and react to the shot than to challenge in the air when you get to the higher ranks. I'll sometimes play duos with my lower ranked friend, usually mid to high diamond games, and I see the difference. I'll wait to save it at the goal more often than challenging the play. I respect the shot, but I'm gonna save it. I've seen tens of thousands of goals by now though, so you always have an idea of where it's gonna go.
Wait youre the same guy that mentions respect yet you commented this, answering your own question XD Something is to be said about reputation and how it bleeds into gameplay and decision making. Diaz is feared by mostly everyone even someone as good as Wahvey. Itll take some time for people to get the Diaz challenge meta down but itll happen.😊
I don't understand people who thinks nobody challenges Diaz. You can watch the game people challening Diaz and it usually ends with possession for Diaz when it's midfield, and when they challenge him in the air he often gets touches or ceiling pinches past them anyway.
Wahvey most certainly couldve won these games. The biggest difference was respect. Diaz didnt care what wahvey was trying to do. As soon as he saw a chance to, he would instantly challenge the ball. Wahvey had WAY too much respect for diaz on their little ground exchanges....often backing off for zero reason other than fear. Make diaz ACTUALLY have to beat you....not just backing off and saying okay you have 100 and the whole field, hope you dont score on me
Might be true, but I don't see Wahvey usually being all that bad at dealing with "ball chasing" playstyle of others. I actually think the main issue was the kickoffs, though Diaz is still a clear favorite to win if kickoffs went even, but either way good players like Wahvey can look "scared" and slow to react when it's generally an issue of boost control and possession off kickoffs. I've seen this so many times over the years, and people attribute the issue to other factors like fear or lack of skill. I also think that a lot of people's opinion about 1v1 pros tactics forget to include the "physical game" of demos and bumps, because many times when it "looks fine" for a lower-rater player to challenge or stay on an attacker, these pros knows better that actually the enemy will get small bumps or demos and take you out of the game much sooner. In fact, I regard it as impressive that these players manage to not get demod more than they do and still pressure & defend so well.

Yeah it seems like it gives you less options with the double reset, but that first goal in game 2 from wahvey was so clean man

Man, Wahvey wasn‘t even playing bad. Impressive performance from Diaz.
Diaz' nickname should be THE PUNISHER. Because that's what he is.
your name should be THE GOBBLER the way you gobble up diaz' meat

I liked the draw because it made every single game essential. You couldn't just make game 1 be a warmup. So, that made it pretty fun.
Croatian food is bangin btw
Why is Diaz in NA?
@@marcossouzalima1113 Texas is in NA
His team are supposed to play NA next year
The Pele of America
I bet they would get him play NA if he qualifies in SAM, they’d just have NA 2nd place qualify instead.

23:43 Jonathan boy said its easier to script aerial matches, its confirmed, he has scripted matches
He's probably in the illuminati and he's using his scripted matches to fund his nefarious plans to destroy all esports
Teams region-hopping is the dumbest shit ever. By that logic, why don't all teams move to SSA and essentially turn every regional into worlds
how many teams have switched regions, and how many have switched more than once
This was like a bronze vs SSL
