Hi cloud gardener im autistic and was wondering if you can you help me please.. I have around 20 lemon seeds planted And 10 lychee seed.. All was put in to water overnight 10 lemon seeds was peeled and the other wasn't But not a single one has germinated 😢 The lychee's haven't germinated either mate Have you got any advice please mate ?
Gardening has been helping me a lot especially on them days when you're all alone and you don't feel like doing anything you know you got to check on your plants and it keeps me focused and motivated kind of like when I used to have a fish tank
Love this. Started growing my own from seed. It’s only been 1 week but already I have growth. Something so satisfying in seeing something grow from scratch!
It's really great to see you feeling passionate about your plants. I'm now going to take the plunge and plant my lemon pips tomorrow! Thanks for the inspiration
I think this is my favourite video of yours :-) I love how much you love Simon. After watching one of your other videos I grew 3 pepper plants earlier this year from seed and one of them now has a gigantic pepper on it. I'm so proud of them and love them to bits. I'm going to try lemon next myself!
Thank you! I know it was little silly.. but it really do love him. He is so amazing and reminds me every day to keep working on myself. Good luck with those lemon trees, you'll have to tag me in a pic of the pepper! I am dying to see! ❤
The way you hold the tree close to you gives me tears, I love that you are so passionate about gardening, you inspired me so much that I'm thinking about starting a winter balcony garden of my own. Thank you
It was such a nice moment! Cause of his slow growth.. I assumed not much was going on.. Seeing the effort the little guy was putting in made me want to do better 🙈🙈
“Lemon tree, very pretty.” I can hear Harry Belafonte now…. Simon is so cute. I’m growing a dwarf Eureka lemon tree but it doesn’t have a lovely name AND I didn’t bring it along from seed. (I love it still.) Lemons are so incredibly useful!
He's the love of my life. Every time I look at him, he reminds me to "Maintain Your Roots". It's core value number 2 for Cloud Gardener UK after number 1 "Don't Give Up". Sounds so silly to get so emotionally attached to a plant 🤦🏾♀️😂 Just because you haven't grown yours from seed doesn't mean you don't love yours as much. Always awesome having fresh lemons in the house! Although got another 4 years till Simon gives me any! 😂
I like the paper towel method because I am an impatient sort and like to check it on it constantly. I can see the root as soon as it begins to germinate.
Another great video! You can skip peeling the seed part and plant the seeds as they are and they germinate anyway. 👍🏻 I started with lemon pips during the first lockdown as a fun little project, then I did orange pips... And then clementines, pomegranate and kiwi seeds 😂😂
@@CloudGardenerUK I'm waiting for the kiwi seeds to germinate. 😊 My lemon and orange seedlings are about 30+ cm tall and I'm hardening them off atm and planning to leave them outdoors in summer. My pomegranate and clementines have the first pair of true leaves. I also did apple seeds last spring and planted one seedling out at the end of summer and it survived the winter. I've just eaten a plum... 🤔😁
Very cool video and such a beautiful plant you have. You are funny as well and I'm growing a few haven't named them yet but shout out to Simon your beautiful one. I'll keep you posted as well. Happy gardening UK!!
Fun fact: lemons can grow ture to type thanks to a phenomenon called polyembryony. Basically a lemon seed contains a zygotic embryo (the hybrid) but it can also contain several nucellar embryos, which are exact copies of the mother tree. The only exception to this are meyer lemons, because they are (mostly) not polyembryonic. Other plants such as avocados, mangos and lychees for example can be polyembryonic as well, but it is extremely common among citrus trees.
Think i will give sowing lemon seeds a go, I am already growing orange seeds, so i hope they grow! You really are inspiring me to grow a lot of things and i was never into gardening until i watched your videos ❤️
When I was a kid I had a lemon tree growed from the seed. It was 1.2 meters tall. Unfortunately it died from aphids. Now I am 32 years old and started this journey again.
Oh Simon is amazing! It's the perfect metaphor and makes a great channel mascot. I have a (bought in) lemon tree that has fruit atm so might try your method with any seeds.
Thank you so much! Until filming I didn't realize how much he really meant to me or what he symbolizes. Good luck with those seeds! Tag me on Insta with your progress! :)

I totally understand. Gardening teaches us about ourselves and how we can thrive or bounce back from “winter”. How is Simon now?
I bought an organic lemon .Put 5 seeds in a paper towel I'm a zip lock baggie 6 days ago . Nothing yet

I think it's a girl. I suggest Simone. After all, she's going to have babies.
love it!
What soil did you put Simon in? Thanks for the vid by the way.
He is a bit boujee.. he has a mixture of compost and citrus soil mix :)
I use ericaceous compost for lemon and orange seedlings. The same one that I use for rhododendron and camellias and ferns.
New subscriber after seeing you on North West Tonight. I started gardening over lockdown last year and I'm now moving on to propagation. Best wishes!
Thanks for sharing!! I’m currently growing a couple Meyer lemon trees for bonsai interests…… keep up the good vibes, friend!!!!

Hello! Wonderful video by the way. If you don't mind, how is your lemon plant doing now?
Oh my god, I love your joy at seeing Simon's roots!
It was such a nice moment! Cause of his slow growth.. I assumed not much was going on.. Seeing the effort the little guy was putting in made me want to do better 🙈🙈
My sister brought me lemons from her tree in Ca, I’ll try my hand at planting the seeds…. I am aware of the grafting issue love your video
I planted all different types of citrus seeds, they're quite big now. I learned that they wont bear fruits for years 😢
Fungus gnats have destroyed 2 of my little lemon trees from cuttings.😢
Bruh since when was Jon Jones are gardener
Very sharp knife you have😀

Hey, I use those same “ratchet containers” for seed starting. 😂
Aaahahahha! It has to be done! Save those coins and the environment too! 😊❤
