This is part of my recreation and expansion of the original Game Boy Advance OST for DKC3 by David Wise. Inspired by Jammin' Sam Miller and his soundtrack restorations of the original SNES trilogy, I'm aiming to do a similar treatment for this version of the game, but with modern virtual instruments. I mean to expand upon the song arrangements so they build a bit more and don't just loop or fade out.
Cascade Capers is up next. You'll get a faithful (more or less) remaking of the source piece, and a few callbacks to the SNES original (and some Tropical Freeze for good measure) =]
David Wise just sometimes goes really hard when composing music for even something as simple as a cliffside waterfall, this version takes it above and beyond!
Thank you, Ezar! Mustn't forget Novakovic's version either =]
@@drawnquartered1284 Certainly! Her original arrangement is one of my favorites in SNES DKC3
I’ve always felt like this was one of the best songs in the franchise, and I’m really glad you’re bringing more attention to it with this beautiful remix!
Yes, I've always loved this one too. To be completely honest, I never played the GBA DKC games until the past few years, but it was this soundtrack that lead me there. Stay tuned for more!
I can hear some tropical freeze and SNES version in there. Awesome stuff ☺️
Thanks! I'm happy you dig it. Be sure to check out the other ones on the channel as well =]
It's like Metroid Prime, Homestuck, and Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze combined into one perfect being.
This is beautiful. I love Eveline's soundtrack growing up, and the fact that you incorporated her song into David's GBA theme is a nice tribute to this game's two iterations.
One of my favorite video game songs of all time - maybe my definitive favorite. Thank you for doing this incredible remix! Such a faithful recreation. I love how you also merged a little bit of the SNES Cascade Capers as well at 3:17.
Thanks! Stay tuned for more ;)
take my breath!

Every time I hear this tune, it reminds me of Amiss Abyss, so it really surprised me to hear the melody there :o
Same for me-it just felt natural to bring those lines into the composition.
Really well done! It was awesome how you incorporated elements from the original version of the track and some Tropical Freeze flourishes, as well!
Thank you! Yes, it feels natural to bring in Amiss Abyss, don't you think? =]
This is absolutely beautiful. I think it was a very creative touch to add a parts from the SNES version in there.
Thanks! Glad you dig it =]
I think this is my favorite one of your DKC3 arrangements!
Thank you!😁
I didn't expect to quote "Amiss Abyss", but it doesn't feel strange at all !
I'm curious what happens when you arrange a Donkey Kong Land song
Thanks! I've been feeling Amiss Abyss in this tune ever since 2014, and I'm happy to bring it into the song like this =]
Donkey Kong Land's OST will come later-not sure what order I want to do the games in. But I did some early versions of the cave level theme that I'm pretty excited about, when I get around to it again ;)
@@drawnquartered1284 Really! ?? I'm really looking forward to it
@@iinjaneno Stay tuned!
Amazing! This track is this game's equivalent of Aquatic Ambience/Stickerbush Symphony. Remixes of this are hard to find, which is a shame. This game had an amazing soundtrack that relatively few people got to experience. Keep up the good work.
Much obliged =] I'm giving this treatment to EVERY song from the ALL the DKC games (and DKL's unique songs), so stay tuned!
Man this one is incredible. I know I already commented on some of your other DKC3 GBA remixes but this is just really good
I love how you come in with the original track near the next
The incorporation of TF's Amiss Abyss along with the original SNES composition were both surprises, but welcome ones that elevate this remix a bit more. Very nice work on this one.
I just couldn't help but hear Amiss Abyss when I was listening back to this one from the GBA. I hope I've done it justice! Thanks for checking out the channel 😁
Best song in the game, in my opinion.
It's really good, isn't it? Underrated I think. Loved making this one come together.
I just love the fact you threw some Tropical Freeze in to the mix. Fantastic stuff! :D
The SNES waterfall theme was cool, but this one has way more emotion. Incredible remix
Thanks so much! I think both versions of Cascade Capers are great and really fit the atmosphere, and it felt natural put them together =]
I have to be honest, I like the original better, BUT I also really like this remix. It's beautiful, especially at the end.
I hope you make Pokey Pipes next! 😁
Thanks! I'm actually busy with that one at the moment, so there'll be at least another one live before Pokey Pipes. Stay tuned =]
Holy wow thats pretty amazing! Awesome job man
Thanks so much! I hope you'll dig the rest of the soundtrack on the channel 😉
@@drawnquartered1284 I am! Binge listening all of them rn, awesome content bro
God job
Thanks! Be sure to check out the other OST songs on the channel =]
really resembles the Baldur's Gate 3 melody at times, especially with the vocals added
Interesting! I haven't heard/played that yet, so I wonder if I'll hear what you hear when I do!
*I'm having a nostalgia attack-*
I hope it's a good thing! o.0
@@drawnquartered1284 It most definitely is! I’m even more excited to see what the next arrangement will be!
@@rayseeklo Great! It'll be soon-ish =] The whole OST is nearing completion XD
@@drawnquartered1284 I can hardly wait to see Stilt Village, Northern Kremisphere and ESPECIALLY Bonus Time. :D
Bonus Time GBA in my humble opinion is the best song in the game
ABISS AMYSS
amazing arrangement, I wish there was a way to listen to it outside of UA-cam, maybe release an mp3 file for all thr themes of use spotify? I would seriously listen to this on almost a daily basis.
soundcloud.com/colin-draun/sets/dkc3-game-boy-advance-ost Here's the full soundtrack as it is released to UA-cam. The rest of the soundtrack (boss themes, NPCs, menus) will be added over time. Thanks for checking out the channel!😄
Also, don't forget you can download the full soundtrack in .msu format for use in the SNES ROM
@@drawnquartered1284 thanks my friend, now I will enjoy that sweet music.
omg this is genuinely incredible; is it alright if i use this in a rom hack im working on? will provide credit ofc ^-^
the beginning reminded me of brushing teeth… ngl
so you actually put a bit of Eveline’s old version in it? :0
HA! It has been a challenge to emulate the sounds from the super-compressed original track as closely as possible. Sometimes I need to take some creative liberties. Sometimes, I gotta use a toothbrush🤣
@@drawnquartered1284 like you actually used a toothbrush
Great job, mister! Do you have a link for these songs in flac?
I do not, but the samples I use are already a base 44.1, so even if I exported .flac files, they wouldn't be genuine.
So... In mp3?
@@wearywanderer1912 I intend to put together the full (FULL) soundtrack in mp3 format. Once I work out how I'm going to distribute it, I'll alert everyone. I've just been away from the channel for a while. When I'm back, I'll have the next project underway, and hopefully, this one ready for distribution.
Wonderful!
Can someone walk me through how to replace all the songs on a ROM of this game with the Extended Arrangements folder?
Yes! Watch this video, and let me know if you have further questions: ua-cam.com/video/wmt4ddljCPQ/v-deo.html
