NMC Learning at Home: The Mountain Dulcimer (Part 1)

- Опубліковано 15 чер 2024
- What makes a "folk instrument" a "folk instrument"? This week, Evan the Educator answers that question by exploring the mountain dulcimer. It's an unusual yet familiar instrument that's a close cousin to the banjo and mandolin, a folk instrument through and through. Evan also introduces his own family of musicians and instrument builders.
Look for more lessons that connect science and sound every week, and check out these Canadian artists using the mountain dulcimer:

- Bruce Cockburn: • Bruce Cockburn 2.15.14...
- Joni Mitchell: • 'California' (LIVE) - ...

Folkcraft - one of the more well know dulcimer makers- has a really great cardboard kit for a hourglass dulcimer (traditional fretting like this one or a more modern fretting with the Chromatic)
