Well cars are not like bikes 4sure. The moment you walk out of the dealership and start your car, the value is already 20% down with a new car.. So I recommend a second hand car, if status isn’t so important for you just get a small car, or maybe an oder model Hilux Toyota or so.. is cheaper in insurance which you need in full in Thailand, especially as foreigner. Older pick up cars, those wo are made in Thailand like Hilux or easy to fix. As soon as you get a car which is produced in Europe or so, fixing very expensive. Check also that airco works, normal cars are better in corners, pick up don’t balance well when too high speed. So lil car like your father in law doesn’t look that cool but is probably the best deal also easy to park. Although I think pickups are more easy to sell again and can carry a lot of Bagage or monks under way…Good Luck
Never buy car .should buy pick up truck with 2doors and extra cap diesel engine will last long cheaper fuel and low maintenance avoid buying 4doors pick up truck cause 4 times higher tax yearly and many more to suitable your need
Nice to see that Ploy is on the road to recovery. My best wishes to her: everything will be fine, time will heal. Don't buy a new car if it's only for a few months, the depreciation is too high.
Hi Gabi. Great to see you and Ploy travelling. If you are only wanting a car for a few months I would rent. I use Andaman Car Rental in Phuket. Khun Jeab will get you a small car for 800 baht per day. I bought a new Toyota Hilux 3 years ago as I found the cost of second hand cars to be quite high and they were not well maintained.
Great to see Ploy in good spirits again! Another great video! I'd buy a used car for the next 6 months, see how it goes, it's a great alternative for bad weather days and then sell it!
You are a good guy. Take care of your girlfriend. Here is my opinion with the car market in Thailand. The car market is very different from the Motorcycle market especially in Phuket. I live in Phuket 4 years own a car and motorbike. 1) Don't expect to buy a used car and sell it back almost the same price like your motorcycle. The reason is it will be very hard for you to sell it. 1) Normal Thai person don't have the money to pay it all off and buy your used car in all cash. Most likely you will need to sell it back to a Used car dealership and they are in the business to make money. They will try to buy your car for the cheap price. 2) Used car in Thailand is almost just as expensive as buying a new car. So you might as well buy a new car. Your chances of buying a used car with problem is very high. So if you plan to use the car for just a couple of months...I recommend you to rent a car. You can rent a car for 8000 a month if you look around. Unless you plan to keep the car long term buy a new car.
Depends on the kind of deal you can get on a rental. If you do not intend to keep the car more than 3-4 months than rent. Selling a second hand car can be a pain in the butt and be more of a hassle than you want to deal with. Get a rental that allows free movement and unlimited miles and gas good insurance. If however you entertain the possibility of keeping a car longer term than buying a good second hand car may make sense. Don't consider a new car unless you have a proven need for it a passion for what the car represents and if you intend to keep long term. Renting out of Phuket may be higher priced and come with restrictions. A bit of homework needs to be done to assess the overall cost. Maybe renting a van that makes it more convenient for Ploy. Good luck.
Hi Gabi It is nice to see you with captain Ploy bro! maybe you schoud buy that helicopter for Captain ploy instead buying a car hahaha 😜 i think buying a car is better idea ! Take care bro!
Hey Gabi! So nice to see you with your girlfriend again. Hope she is doing well. I think you should buy a car because car prices will keep increasing. When you have time, can you also make a video about opening a business in Thailand with a lawyer, please? We are planning to move to Phuket soon with my wife. It will help us a lot. With your videos, we took our Thaipass very easily in January. I think you explain very simple and right way. Hope to meet you when we move to Phuket.
Rent 🙏 If buying used car. 🤧 mileage of have been changed to allow one numbers and please take a test on the Compression and look about Syd and how damage are they is it comparable to the miles the car have been driven take care lovely to see you girlfriend in a better condition we don’t care about toilet and mirror in hotel room we care for you and your girlfriend please noticed and use the time on your girlfriend 🙌🙏
@@ridewithgabi I know from following you long time. ( Jens, from Denmark 🇩🇰) the next owner of your African twin 🙌 But / ore. maybe you can speak out for here about the small and great Approvement that she does it will help her on improving Day by day 🙏♥️👍
Thanks for sharing! The Pannarai Hotel is my favorite hotel in Udon Thani. It is a nice hotel with good service, resonnable size room and very god breakfast buffet at least pre pandemic. We bought a brand new 4 door Mitsubishi Triton Automatic gear in January 2020 at Mitsubishi Nong Khai, and dont regret a bit. We where lucky with the previous car we bought used, but we did know the owner and the service history. Other than that, I would avoid buying a used car in Thailand. As you might know, warranty or service in most dealers is over the same minute you have signed the contract. And the price on fairly new used car is higher vs. new car prices than we are used to in most of Europe. If you know for sure that your girlfriends recovery will only last 2-3 months and you have no need for a car after that, I would consider renting a car on a monthly basis. If not, and you have long term plans for staying in Thailand, buy a new one.
When you buy a car here in thailand beware of the book service. I made a mistake buying a chevrolet second hand as a first car. 86k km and we realize that the car had only the first service done.. was running for few years without ever check the breaks, gear oil, etc lol Second car i bough a honda HRV with 1000k km with the full service done at honda and we didnt had any problem . Some people dont take well care after the warranty period
I’m planning on visiting my girlfriend in Sakon Nakhon next year and I enjoy your videos giving me a preview of Isaan life. I look forward to spending time in sakon Nakhon. Are there Muay Thai gyms in sakon nakhon? Internet search comes up empty.
Thanks for the great videos. We are moving from Utah to Phuket in July. Your videos are great. Thanks everyone for the great insight on renting / buying a car. I’d love an old reliable pickup. Does anyone have advice?
Nice to see you both hitting the road and smiling. Udon Thani is very beautiful. Loved the park and the hotel. Been to Thailand 30 times but now you have me a new destination. Small towns can be fun too. Cheers 🥂
As far as I know you can use a car to move around Thailand but not in Bangkok, the infrastructure of the road in Bangkok is not suitable for the quantity of people living there, you just can get away with a scooter.
Good to see Ploy and her beautiful smile. Wont be long till she is running on the beach again crashing drones 😂. I can't believe how cheap the petrol is there. It's currently around £1.73 in the UK, 76 bhat a litre! Not sure what the used car market is like in Thailand but if you can afford to buy new then I would. I have bought too many used cars here that have turned out to be worthless. Blessings to you both.
We bought a Toyota Yaris and it’s been great we’ve had it 6 years already it’s just the convenience of knowing we can travel whenever we want. The car has been to Koh Samui Phuket bkk Hua hin khon kean roi et where our house is.

Second hand car's are expensive, compared to Australian car's , rent one first
Yes I am just realizing that
Thanks for the great videos. We are moving from Utah to Phuket in July. Your videos are great. Thanks everyone for the great insight on renting / buying a car. I’d love an old reliable pickup. Does anyone have advice?
Buying a second hand not a bad idea in Asian countries, why because repair labour costs are extremely cheaper than in westren countries.
That’s a good point 👍
