This is a really refreshing take on her, where she really breathes. Not where she's in eternal opposition to Catherine De Medici, yet again. Thank you for doing this justice to both women, choosing not to flog and perpetuate the endless soap opera of plotting rivals for one man and for influence that they are usually reduced to, so often one good, one evil, as if life and history were so morally unambiguous.
Among the maîtresses en titre, she's one of my personal favourites. She knew her place and did not directly oppose Catherine. Yet at the same time, I don't blame Catherine for getting rid of her. In the end, despite being virtuous and beautiful, the real Queen was Catherine.
True, but alternatively many royal and aristocratic families also took advantage of young girls for their bloodlines as well. For political gain and power, marrying them off as early as 12 to do their 'wifely duties' to procure heirs, which many were in a rush to do as they were 35-65 years old. When women had no rights to themselves, could usually not hold land, money, were items to be traded and all but sold, women did what they had to do for themselves and their children.
Diane de Poitiers is an interesting figure in French history here are some suggestions for your next video Philippa of Lancaster, Queen of Portugal Catherine of Lancaster, Queen of Castile Eleanor of Viseu, Queen of Portugal Queen Isabella of Castile Margaret of Denmark Joan Beaufort, Queen of Scotland Anne of Brittany, Queen of France Empress Maria Theresa Eleanor of Castile, Queen of England Margaret of France, Queen of England
This video might change my opinion, but from the little I know of her I don’t rly like her🥲 I tend not to like mistresses (with exceptions, of course, when they treat the wife with kindness and respect- which might be Diane’s case, though that’s not the idea that I have of her- though again, it might well change w the video :)

An interesting woman, but she still used her position to gain power and status by taking advantage of a young boy.
