I like the quick videos, but I also like the longer ones. You have the unique ability to communicate information clearly and in an interesting and organized manner. The production values of your videos are excellent as well.
People who don't love long explanations are just people who don't go to the bottom of things! I don't say they're not good people, they're just different! But here is actually a lot of people who love to understand the "becauses" of the "whys", so stay who you are, the world need more people like you!!
Aww thanks! Sometimes I like the challenge of seeing how I can deliver the most info in the least amount of time!
Maybe 5 to 7 min because it seems like you have to talk too fast. And I don’t agree with your partner! You do talk a lot but it’s good info😁
I like that your videos include topic time stamping so I can go back to a thought on one thing later without wasting a lot of time rewatching parts on topics I'm currently struggling with. I find your videos very helpful in many different ways.
Quick videos are a welcome change, but please don’t abandon your usual, longer vids. They have so much information and I enjoy them and learn a lot, too.
Have groups of three paintings on my walls,..funny,..I didn’t know about the rule of three I just always found it more balanced to the eye.
Since you asked, I prefer a more lengthy production, where you have time to explain the ins and outs of your design perspective whilst inserting various aspects of your personality. This time frame is a little too short to be as informative and enjoyable as your typical videos. That said, thank you for another high quality share. Best wishes and please keep the other’s comin’!
Thanks! Yes I don’t do this format anymore just because people seem to like the longer segments. Thank you for the thoughtful and respectful feedback. 😊
Lol. Your so called “long” videos seems SO short. You’re very engaging so it goes fast.
You present the material in a consentrated and condesed manner in your 'long' videos, they are informative with enough examples and details to frive the point home. I vote for more of those!
Do the short and long videos! You and your partner can both be right. I love that your videos get to the point without all the chit chat. They're educational and fun. My wife and I are looking to decorate and we desperately need help. I watch the longer videos when I have time. The shorter ones while eating lunch/cooking/etc. You have been extremely helpful! Lots of the other interior design videos seem to be personal video journals that are too fussy.
I like the 2 min video. I also like your videos because you are the only interior designer I see that shows real life problems/solutions. Most designers show fantastic solutions in fantastic $15 million houses with high ceilings, huge windows over looking the ocean and gorgeous parquet floors. But 99% of us live in small cramped apartments and cant afford too much so as beautiful as those homes are, they are only a dream for most of us.
Thanks for that feedback - I'm so glad you noticed because that's what I'm all about! I love the beautiful inspirational stuff too, but what about making design more accessible for the average person? I try to keep it simple, easy and FUN!
I absolutely loooved the 2 minute explanation! Answered the question right away, no unnecessary words or rambling, & easy to remember/understand. There’s no need for a 20 minute video for something that can be explained in 2 🤷🏾♀️ Please keep this series!
“Nick is verbose.” 😂❤️ lengthy or condensed, I love all your videos!
Please continue and take as much time as you like to confer your vast knowledge of design. I’ve loved watching and listening to you explain design in relatable terms. Thank you so much!
Great info! I prefer the longer more in-depth videos. But honestly you are so incredibly likeable & knowledgeable- I’d watch any content you put out 💜
can you do videos on design BASICS? and basic annoying problems ? how high is a chair supposed to be for maximum ergonomic comfort ? what is the perfect height for a counter top ? How deep should a sofa be to be really comfortable ? What is the most practical height for an ottoman -- 17" or 19" ? Why do my windowsills look ok when I move in and in a couple of years, they are cracking etc and what is the problem/solution ? These are basic rules that designers know but I never see them listed anywhere and I have searched for it..
I love that idea! You're right, it's those little things that make a big difference. Thanks for all the suggestions!
I’ve actually used the rule of 3s for a long time, although not quite sure where I learned it. I loved this quick tip video, although I really enjoy your longer ones where you dive deeper into a subject and really explain the concepts. Just do you!
I like your longer videos! 😊 Everything you say is important, you don’t just ramble.
Too quick for me, feels like a study cram before I take an exam. Love your long video because it’s very informative and give me to to digest it.
You do NOT explain too long. Thank you fot all the tips.
I would like longer videos. You are entertaining while giving us good decorating ideas. I can listen to you all day. Please make them longer.
I would like the longer videos, and you are great 👍
Thanks so much! I like the longer ones too, but these are fun once in a while!
I love your ‘long’ videos. I don’t think they’re too long. They are perfect for the subject. Great channel!!!
You don’t talk too much! We come here to hear you talk, longer videos please! You are awesome
To be fair to him, he's been stuck in quarantine with me for 10 months so I see his point. 😂
I prefer the longer videos bc that way you are able to really get into it and explain everything better with a lot more details
You don’t take too long to explain things! I love the details and I feel like I’m learning so much!
Your passions shines through when you take your time to explain, the 2 minute things seems rushed and like you are racing
No, your long videos are GREAT!! I go back and listen to certain chunks and then rewatch the whole thing!
I quite like it when the videos are long because you're never just rambling, you're always sharing valuable ideas, suggestions, and examples in a nuanced (!) way in my opinion. In fact, I would quite like to see even more examples when you're explaining a design concept. I would love to see you go through examples and highlight what design principles have been utilized in a design. Maybe that's a concept you could use for videos? It might not be for everyone, but I'm inclined to think there is an audience for it, but what do I know... Great content Nick! Congrats on 100k subscribers!
I like using the rule of three in the landscape. Plants look better
when arranged in groups of three or uneven numbers.
Thanks for the tip.
Nick we love your verbosity! I binge watch you ... if you do these quickly please do more of them!
Doesn’t matter whether long or short, you have a lot of info in them. Good for you.
I personally love listening to everything you share and hang on every word. I like your “long” explanations.
I enjoy listening to you for 2 minutes, 10 minutes or 30 minutes! Love your explanations, thank you!
I agree with other comments in here, you give long explanations full of content. It’s not that you are repeating yourself endlessly. It’s an actual class, with details and many of us are really interested in what you have to say. 2 minutes videos are great for certain subjects but in no way a substitute for others. Let the videos be at the length you see fit for the intended explanation. I love your content!
I don't think you talk for too long! I'm amazed how much information you can give in a 15-minute videos, which I think is short. :)
I like the longer format for sure. Your delivery speed is awesome and keeps me engaged. So refreshing. Say what you have to say, regardless of time. The content is more important. And deep is good!
Hi Nick, I’ve done it unintentionally, without thinking about it.. So I guess that this that you describe about our brains kicked in.. Thank you, love your tips, long or short explanations. Love them all!..
I recently discovered you and I can get enough of your videos! When I was watching your videos I thought wow such great content, no waffling and he goes straight the point without having long videos! I would’ve never thought your videos are long! Keep doing you!
I like both the longer and shorter videos. I especially like to watch younger longer videos when I am doing chores that require me to be in one spot.☺️
I havent heard about this before - and, trust me, I have been watching lots of stuff throughout the years lol. Thanks for sharing!
Me and my family love your way of educating and entertaining us! The excess use of barn doors video for example, we 💘 it!! Keep doing YOU please!! Greatly appreciated it!!
I like the longer ones. I know the longer ones are important strategy on YT too, so win-win. 🙌🏽
I love your long explanations and details. You share great content and I learn so much. Please don't listen to your partner. All your videos are timed appropriately. You're absolutely perfect! Thank you.
Ok, I liked this video but honestly, I like the longer videos better.
Your information is always of high quality, and besides that, you don't use a lot of unnecessary words anyway just to hear yourself talk. And I appreciate that immensely. Out of all the people on youtube, You are not the one that needs to do shorter videos. ;-)
Who knew ? Things do look so much better with 3 !! Recently started watching your videos, love them. Thank you so much !!
You don't take too long! I enjoy every minute!
Thanks for explaining this rule, now I get it! The video was great mind you, a little longer wouldn't hurt! 😁
Little quick videos AND long ones! You're great at both so just do what makes sense. Thank you for all of your knowledge x
Whaaaat?! You're so good at explaining things quickly and clearly. Your partner is just jelly 😉☕
I do not mind long explanations at all. I also love when you dive deeper. Maybe a mix of both types of videos would be very interesting 🤔
Thanks for explaining this! When deciding what art pieces to put where, at times I've thought a bit rebelliously, "But WHY do I have to arrange things in threes?" Now I understand the reasoning behind it.
I really enjoy your personality, verbosity and explanations. That is why you are a favourite of mine.
Anyone else here appreciating how well the terazzo pattern on Nick's shirt matches the room? :)
Nick this was fun...but, I love your content & I love hearing you talk design!! Podcast?? If you do a podcast, please make sure to film it & post it up on UA-cam! Xo
These short videos are great when we have no attention span!!!! The longer are also good when we have a little more time on our hands. We love your content, so whatever you present is super fabulous for us!!!!
You are so easy to listen to and so respectful... Love your work Nik. 👍⭐💚
I love both! I try to learn something everyday so the length of the vid i want to watch varies from day to day! I sound high maintenance but.....ok maybe I am!!🤣
It's the same in marketing, "Rittersport - quadratisch, praktisch, gut" ;)
Love the short video, however i do not mind longer videos as long as it gives good content. Would be great to see a video from you on how to approach small studio appartments.
I love these shorts ones. I could binge a whole playlist of these
I chuckled at the brief expression of mock-exasperation on your face after telling us that your partner thinks your videos are too long. You emit wonderful energy all around. :) !!
You are not verbose! I love to hear what you have to say👏👏👏
Love the longer videos, this short video is stressful ,you explain everything so well why would you have to do two minute videos? This is art one can not rush art. ❤️🇨🇦
I like the shirt and the longer videos. Sometimes I’d like a quick and to the point explanation, thks
I loved the little 3 minute video. There's definitely room for both types as each have different concepts and production types behind them. As I wrote this out though I realized this video was posted quite a few months ago lol. Oh well.
Yes, I find the rule of three just looks better every time. Great video. I don’t find you take too long to explain things. I think you are very concise, but then I don’t live with you.😂
I love your videos because you get right to the point and explain things clearly. This 2 minute video feels too rushed. I end up feeling anxious.
I think you're timing your videos perfectly! Sometimes you do take a bit longer to explain but that's why I set all tutorials' speed to x1.25 😂
I knew about threes but hadn’t thought about it for pendant lights and panels on the wall-brilliant!
The two minutes was nice and catchy, but I think we missed out on your thoughtful humor... like when you almost call out your mom for a design faux pax. :)
I love yours long videos. I love when you explain and explain. I'm a kind person that want to knows the why for everything.
Thanks for this video! Unlike when I look for a video to help me immediately accomplish something (like install a light or fix a toilet that won't stop running) I never sit down to watch a UA-cam video of this type in a big hurry to just get information and run. I enjoy them and and usually sitting down and relaxing when watching, so to me the super-shortness is not bad but also not necessary; though this was made a year ago so you've probably reached your own conclusion on this by now :)- Love the content whatever the length.
I didn’t mind this one but I prefer the longer ones. You explain thing so well.
I have never before thought about the number of things put together when it comes to design. I think I actually prefer much more than 3, at least when it comes to wall art
I agree. I like to group things in 3s and sometimes 5s. I just did it instinctively. This is the first time I’ve heard it explained
I have been the 3s for about a year...it works. One added point, change the groups once in a while so you get a new look; just as you move the art work every 6 months or so
You could easily have longer videos because I find everything that you say very informative and interesting. :)
I love thise short but much more 10 minutes videos, because you explain also another design trick not just that one in article. It is true that I dont prefer alliteration much, but I consider you as best youtuber!
Thank you for short and sweet. To the point in 2 minutes. I love it. Great tip.
Can you do neutral cottage, vintage styles please. Love your long videos better. You are very through and informative. Thank you
Cool! I didn't know it applied to pendant lamps too. 😊
Yup! I mean I love a single pendant too, but if you have the space, go for 3!
Oh, and you are not too verbose! I like the quick tips but I also love the longer format.
I love putting everything in pairs
When I took a design class our instructor taught us about the Golden Mean or the 3/5 ratio in design. The Greeks used it in their architecture. Are you familiar with it? It’s the same principle as the groups of 3. Keep up the good work. 🌿
I like a short video, 10 minutes or less. Love your channel.
Omgoodness you are in my New Zealand polytech interior design course !!!! This video. I already loved you and now here u are in my course awwww ❤❤❤
Thanks Nick! Love these quick tips!
I usually watch several of your videos at a time...long or short...great information! Thanks 😊
I like the way you talk about things explicitly. I was shocked to hear that you will limit your video recording time. Please keep the way you used to be in your past videos 😊
I love your videos too. Never felt they were too long.
You had 66k subs this morning. I took a bath, went to the bank and came back home. You now have 68k subs?!
Feng shui ad is playing right now. It is promoting a lucky bracelet. You must be wearing it😁😉
The body language about your partners opinion of the longevity of explanation.. #relatable 😂 okay now going to start over to pay attention 🥰
I love your explanations, overall way of talking and your content. Keep being yourself ✌️
I loved having a shorter video!!! It’s more of what I have time for in my day. And sparks enough of my interest to go research more on my own. Inspiring and just enough info. 💛
I like your short videos and I like your long videos, I just like all your videos! Btw, you definitely don't take too long to explain things! In fact, I find you to be very succinct, just the right amount of information 😊
I came across your video on white paints and how to choose them ... all I can say I have never heard anyone explain and make it so simple and clear... Thankyou so much also have watched many other of your topics ... you are a breath of fresh air ... I subscribed instantly, love love the way you explain everything... going to tell all my family and friends about you .... keep on doing what your doing.😊
I like a quick short explanation for simple but important topic. This vids topic is just what I needed as I’ve recently remodeled and am working to add my artwork to my space. Now then I would love to see a companion longer one on details of how to do what I’m trying to do. So maybe a 2-3 minute one and then links to detailed ones. I like all your content but sometimes when I’m on UA-cam I just want the quick stuff. Then other times I like the long. Having both on your channel (to which I just barely found and subscribed to) will be perfect! This is me being selfish! LOL!
Since learning of the rule of 3's recently I can't unsee it. So i notice it in videos/film and tv etc. I use 1 or 3. With art and books being a goal of an exception (soon when I get around to it) lol
I like the idea of some shorter videos, but I enjoy the longer videos so much! Whether you're exploring a subject in depth (like the types of variation of colors), or bringing different cases about one theme (design trends that people are tired of), I really believe that the longer videos are super cool, and the proper format for those contents. Plus, I don't think you repeat yourself, or use unecessary words in the longer videos, I feel your always conveying something, that's another reason I like the longer videos.
I like long videos because I watch you while doing other things
I love long explanations! I could listen to you for an hour 😁
Oh you are too sweet! I think you’d be the only one watching at the 1 hour mark. 😂
I totally agree
@@Nick_Lewis Found your channel today. Have already watched many of your videos. I'd definitely watch for an hour! Heck, I even looked for you online to see if you sold your design services. You live too far away. Keep making videos!!!! Short and long.
@Nick Lewis I really love the way you speak..loads of information, quite quick but crystal clear delivery..so impressed..I think you "know your stuff" and know your own mind about it..ty!
Same really
