Not many soldiers died in the Liberio attack, and there are military bases everywhere in the country of Marley, which is a continental mainland, not a city-state. Liberio is just one city with military activity. There's still Marleyan military forces, ships, and airships in the country, even after this battle. And the military police force of Marley wasn't even touched much in the Liberio battle. The reason why only a small force is used in this battle is because the objective is to kill Eren to eliminate the threat of the Rumbling and bail, not to destroy Paradis. Not enough resources to carry a full attack on the entire Walls. The destruction of Paradis was scheduled in six months, to be carried by Marley and many other countries united together as the Global Alliance. A full-scale attack would take days. The Marleyan soldiers are also part of the forces who are trying to stop the Rumbling. Even in part 3 you'll still see the Marleyan military. People should pay more attention to what they're watching.

There were still doubts about Karl Fritz's statements of pacifism and renouncing war. Also they needed to see if such vow was still functioning. Obviously we know this all was written to justify the plot, since realistically sending children on their own to do an adult government agent's job is absurd. All Reiner had to do was simply transoform and grab the Attack Titan when it first appeared in the Trost battle, without showing anyone that there was a human inside it. One of the most powerful sequences/scenes/battles in the show, man this show was something unique. I think we all have felt like eren in this moment, at least once.

Most of the Snivellists are old Garrison units, other from the MP, and the majority came from the newer twisted Survey Corps (and prior they were in the Garrison, and only a few stupid kids like annoying Louise joined straight from the Cadets) only known for raiding Liberio. The youngest ones joined from the Cadets to the Scouts, before deserting, but the majority like Daz and Floch, used to be from the Garrison before joining the Scouts. And their age doesn't make them any less unsympathetic and obnoxious than they are anyway. Watching Yeagerists getting their proper treatment will never not be a pleasure. these scene put so much question to me. if they can do this assault, why didn't they do it at the very start of the series? reiner and bertholdt's mission is to wipe them out inside the wall. they don't have prior knowledge that eren is a titan or if the founding titan is still alive. they could've killed the attack titan and founding titan for all they know on that initial attack and they put their most precious weapons on a single island while they have wars with other nations for 5 years. they could easily wipe out the citizens of paradis since they don't have any knowledge of these weapons or war tactics. they are all just trained to kill titans and they weren't even good at it and their most advanced weapon is cannon. they even abandoned their rifles since they thought it's useless against titans.

The purpose of Reiner & co was to use the invasion as an experiment to see how the enemies would fight and if the King would come out and use the Founder to fight, or even try start the Rumbling. There were still doubts about Karl Fritz's statements of pacifism and renouncing war. Also they needed to see if such vow was still functioning. Obviously we know this all was written to justify the plot, since realistically sending children on their own to do an adult government agent's job is absurd.
These kids are government's secret agents on their own, without adult supervision. That's asking for a bad plan. All Reiner had to do was simply transoform and grab the Attack Titan when it first appeared in the Trost battle, without showing anyone that there was a human inside it. Then bring it back to marley and see if they got the right target. Either that, or simply report back to Marley after the Fall of Wall Maria, confirm to the military that the Walls' people are weak and helpless, and simply launch a full Marleyan military invasion. Simple as that...but you know, we need the story to exist, heh.

Marley's plan can fuck up a thousand ways. if 3 of them were seized or killed, marley just lost 3 titans.
