Greetings from Ireland. I enjoyed your video on the TV Screen today. You are right in your conjecture that the albacore tuna run along the South Irish coast at this time of the year. They do. No one really goes after them though. Late October and early November they run and not too far off the coast and you can catch some big ones, even 300lbs trolling plastic pink squid lures. Pink seems to be far and away the best colour to use to the best of my knowledge. The deer can be seen rutting in the Dublin mountains in November at Ticknock just above the city. Saw Mr. fox on TV passing No. 10 Downing Street recently. They are all over Dublin City and suburbia having been drawn in by the municipal dump in Ringsend back around 1980!
Nice one Graeme nice steady day plenty of fish. One downside no life jacket , as we all know the older we get the slower we are. I did have the pleasure to fish with you in the 80s with Chris Martin at Newhaven we had a great day you took plenty off photos One was the front cover of the challenge of wreck fishing was myself swinging a large ling into the fish box . They were the days we had plenty of cod into high 20s . Stay safe looking out for next video.
Hi Graeme, say hi to Mike ( I bought a wood following his encouragement). So I own a wood in Shropshire and can tell you we are over run by Roe deer, also squirels ++++, badgers and foxes! Plus 2 nesting buzzard birds of prey. Can't speak for more urban settings but in a rural ancient wood setting there is still hope for continued wildlife.
Graeme, try solid barrow tyres. They're a bit heavier, but no more bad tubes or flats in the middle of nowhere. Are your English deer more shy than American white tail? Deer around here seem to be one of the creatures that has been flourishing. Some fellows even do urban hunting with bows, I just take my camera these days. A lot of my beloved rural areas are getting built up these days. Numpties moving out of the big city, bringing their city way of doing things and never realizing that they are bringing their problems with them. They'll pay huge amounts of brass to have a poorly made assembly line house built... When right down the road is a grand old lady of a farmhouse that could have been put into stunning condition for less money. We see it in the more populated areas as well. Businesses sprawling, houses getting torn down, neighborhoods gone. Perfectly fine buildings that are vacant get passed by, and 300 year old maple trees get the axe. All because some twerp at corporate wants to spend wads of dough for a brand new, bespoke location instead of remodeling a storefront for less money... (Sorry for the rant.)
I had the fright of my life about twenty years ago, I had a pallet of wood at the bottom of the garden and I had seen foxes around but I walked to the bottom and Mr fox was sound asleep on my pallet, he jumped up and ran for the hills and I missed a beat of my heart. I haven’t caught him asleep since, but he still come around now and again.
The best pallet I had was one for an MRI body scanner. Planed treated wood. Everyone thought I was mad. £15 nuts and bolts. Picnic table that would seat 10 people. Had it 15 years.
Thanks for braving out the lumpy hoggin. I can't watch Freshwater fishing for some reason, sea for me. Great video, you're a lovely funny bloke. I laughed so much when on one of your films you said sausages and you whistled through your teeth and then lost your mind for a couple of minutes. From Tony in Plymouth
We have had a huge reduction in our Swans, here in Norfolk, I should think 2/3 have succumbed to bird flu. I have just been along the upper part of the river Bure today and you can smell the stinking carcasses rotting away in the riverside vegetation. It is thought that this virus may mutate and affect the animals that will feed on these decaying carcasses, like Foxes. It may have already happened, in the case of Otters anyway because their numbers have decreased big time…
It's from Chinese poultry farms ,, and also a seriously ignored issue is the amount of detergents from covid cleaning,,, everyone is amazon mad yet ignoring the bigger picture.,
Hi Graham, Reference birds, there is a virus effecting birds in the UK, I normally have a flock of 50/100 sparrows feed and roost in my garden they empty my seed feeders every few days, but those feeders are lasting a week or more now. I understand from one of my brothers that farmers have had to have 1000's of chickens/Turkeys slaughtered because of this virus. Keep up the good work and get Mick out fishing with you and don't forget Jack.
Exactly what we have found, the feeders are staying full for longer...I had a dead pigeon story I put up a few weeks ago,I now wonder if that was bird flu.
I live in N.E Lincolnshire and we've seen loads more deer over the last 2-3 years. Compared to previous years. We have a resident fox as i live on the edge of town ,and we give it left over dinner and dog food, and he's there every night, but sometimes there's a cat already waiting to steal his food.
I'm a fan of the Frankenrod - got a few of my own. When I go vertical jigging I like to leave them down a few feet off the bottom and when one gets hit I leave it for a little bit and I've found it tends to attract a few more customers. I think it's to do with them seeing one guy thrashing around feeding and they see the other jigs flashing so they get in for their bit. Just like fishing for dolphin fish. When you hook one you get another bait in the water because his mates will be close behind looking to see what he's eating. Loving the Goon Show references. Where I live we used to see kangaroos in the yard and hopping down the street on an almost daily basis. Now, 8 years later, it's rather rare to see. The local area has been built out radically and they just don't come around anymore as a result. I also credit it to the fact that more homes and people equals more dogs in the area.
So glad you were thinking about those tuna !!!! I hope to see you have another go at them Mr P maybe Cornwall may be a good shot I've seen videos of them busting all over the show I'm sure high sea drifter is ready and waiting for you pal!!!! Good luck and awsome video
Hi Graeme, This was a really great video on that old boat. Loads going on. I never managed a trip to Greece last week or indeed anywhere at all. Fell really unwell last Monday with Gastric Flu. I have spent the entire week in bed in between Doctor visit. I have never felt so bad in a long long time Graeme. I still have another week off ahead so hopefully towards the end of it i might get a day out but it;s pretty unlikely. Life is really shit at times eh. Thanks again Graeme for your uplifting and inspirational videos. Steve in Fife.
Hi Steve, Sounds you you have been put through the mill..certainly not much fun I imagine. Hope you feel better soon,I'm sure its a time thing and each day should be easier. I don't know if Gastric Flu is what we used to call Gastro Enteritis ?? Maybe the same thing with a modern name..
@@TAFishing Yes Graeme your spot on it's Enteritis but i was trying to be polite. Ha Ha. On the Ginger Tea with Manuka Honey now, that will sort it out. Thanks Graeme for your kind words. Stay well. Steve.
Graham, be careful with pallet wood. Some is infested with woodworm. A friend a few years ago collected pallet wood and stored it in his loft. Yes, you guessed it, ended up with woodworm in his loft timbers!
Hi Grahame, was the never to be repeated "Goon Show", Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers and Harry Secombe. Maybe Michael Bentine? Great content, keep it coming. Thanks.
I live in the Dorset countryside Graeme, our population of deer seems ok..if you're getting more houses and people then there's bound to be pressure on the wildlife..also a big build up of deer usually results in a cull sooner or later, we had a large herd of fallow that built up over the years but they've been thinned out recently..but I will say our mallard population has completely disapeared, and I put that down to corvid predation on the nests in the early spring
Regarding missing wildlife, here in East Suffolk, still seeing Muntjac Deer, & occasional Foxes, but very few small birds visiting our garden this summer.
@@TAFishing I believe predators are at least part of the problem. We have seen plenty of Magpies & Crows in recent years. Also this year a Sparrow Hawk has killed two birds in our Garden. (I have lived in this area for all my life, there is a big reduction in small birds). But just to finish on a positive note, great videos from you)
Greame I've been watching the tuna for the last 4 years passing our campsite just down the coast past Sidmouth there favourite food is garfish well that's what's jumping out in front of them I've also had the privilege of encountering a tuna in the Ex estuary about 3 years ago it was 8ft long i was on a paddle board at the time which is 10ft6 so was easy to guess the length & around the 400lb/500/lb Mark its UA-cam if you want to check it out what an experience unbelievable Enjoy Greame
I've also noticed a lack in uk birds this year. Especially black birds. Last year ther was 20 or 30 in my local park. This year, none. Not one. I'm very concerned 😟
@@alanmcdonald4423 Well how come the gulls are still there in numbers, the ducks are on the pond in their usual numbers the crows are in large numbers in the cemetery next to the park and the jackdaws are alive and well on the chimney pots down the street. @@nicholaskemp2246I am only an interested ex-farmer, not a vet, but my understanding is that like all diseases (and I am sure you have much reported info on Covid) not every bird is killed by it, not every bird is infected either, but it could well be that, again like Covid, there are different strains in different areas that are affecting some species more than others. I cannot give you a definitive answer. I do believe that there are increasing numbers of predators of small birds apart from any diseases or natural events that decimate their numbers. Was the long hot spell in summer prevalent in your area? Did the small birds rear less young? There are numerous reasons why there is sudden population decline in wild creatures of specific species. My dad god bless him...loved eating dogfish......rock salmon i believe they call it....he also loved jelllied eels 😱.. Yes he was an old school cockney. Long live T.A FISHING 🙏
I agree that there is a noticeable reduction in wildlife. A reduction in insects can be at least partially blamed on the overuse of pesticides, both on farms and peoples lawns (gardens). They are close to the base of a long food chain. Urban expansion brings with it pets such as cats, which are notorious for killing millions of songs birds and small mammals per year (Google Australia Feral Cats). Also dogs which have, if let loose, been known to pack, chase and kill deer. I have read and posted numerous articles on my group EARTH on this topic. It was nice to see you catching Mackerel, as the government here in Atlantic Canada has placed a limit on them due to shortages. Also nice to hear you have a vault of videos to help us get through this winter. Thanks.
Hearing you talk about not seeing many birds around, well my wife and I was only speaking about this last weekendweek, we live in the NorthWest on the coast yet for years I hadn't seen or even heard any sparrows yet this year I've seen some in our garden however we've only seen two swallows this year which is very unusual yet we've had a really good summer. It makes you wonder why, maybe there's some disease that's killing them off?
Of course there is a disease killing them off. Do you not know that poultry keepers have had to keep their free range flocks confined instead of letting them range?
I've not heard of an disease killing off birds however about six years ago in our area we had signs up say Avian Flu had been detected in the area where I live, is this the same thing?
@@oshiforb7445 I believe it is the same disease, or strain of it - purely from extensive reports in the media. I am a retired farmer, egg sales being my main income from time to time, so I have an interest ins uch things.
Wow, what a boat that was, shouldn't it be in a museum ? Loved the wildlife video at the end. In my hometown, deer are still in plague proportions and many are killed on the roads, but not many people collect the free meat available.
Hi Graham I go fishing and shooting on the wild life front there has been a risen in foxes for a few years now and deer . Has there been any live stock put on the fields near you? This will effect deer and push them away . Maybe new fences put up ? As for the fox it could well of been hit by a car and run off a died in cover possibly. I am sure it will not be long before more foxes turn up again as there is a good number around most place . We are also in Hampshire and there are lots here . I go wildfowling (duck shooting ) and there has definitely been a drop in numbers with the ducks and geese the last couple of years . Around here anyway . I thing bird flue has had a effect also the weather . As soon as we had the freezing cold weather this winter there was a lot more ducks around. Weather and the fact there are more people year on year moving into the country side or it being built on is not helping. Seems to be more predictors around nowadays so unfortunately that’s not going to help . The birds on the bird feeder will not get eaten by the kit but with them flying around it will scare the other birds off this might be why your not seeing so many birds in the garden . I have just started watching your videos they are fantastic keep the good work up mate really enjoying them .
A couple of good impressions there Graeme however, please do not give up the day time job. As for the birds and deer etc, I believe that after the hot summer and mild Autumn we are having nature doesn't know what it's doing at the moment.
They do have different types,I get the best sea ride in the Wild Duck but any wooden boat is going to ride better than the lighter fibreglass. Mind you if I get the chance I go out in anything that floats and moves. Just want to be fishing. I think it might be beach trips for me in November.Used to be the more productive month for me anyway. Who knows what this year will bring.Probably scratching for small stuff again.
Definitely alot less birds about in urban Birmingham.Have bird feeders up and the difference is very noticeable. Also Have a fox come every morning at work and he disappeared for a couple of months but has turned up again in the last two weeks.
Great session and video, you've fished in that boat in lots of videos now and always caught lots of fish and some specimen'sas well. Fishing by yourself out at sea do you ever get scared being alone ?..Plus do you ever get sea sick?
No,I'm really happy on my own. I know some folks just have to be near someone else, just the way they are made up I guess ,but I have never had a problem doing solo stuff,I would sooner have it that way..And I switch the phone off when fishing as well. I refuse to be dominated by it.
Here near the 'Parkway' in Plymouth we do get foxes, deer, owls and other birds of prey. But this year I haven't heard the foxes, it's a possibility that they've just moved away or the plants they hide in have died back. It's nice laying in bed with the window open listening to the owls talk, I just have no idea what they're talking about.
Hi Graeme, regarding the wildlife population, it's not going to improve all the while we keep building more housing estates which are encroaching on our wildlife's natural habitats. I live in Faversham Kent right on the swale estuary & have seen a dramatic decline in our wildlife due to ongoing new housing estates being built, where do we draw the line & say enough all ready?
Same down my way...housing estates being piled on what were green fields....There is never enough if you are a developer. That's why they are called developers.
Trust me that bloke is no friend of mine...I guess he doesn't realise that is why farmers have to control vermin on their land, and as you say,the Magpies are everywhere now....Another wonderful regulation that has the reverse effect of actually protecting the small British songbirds.
@@TAFishing he's know one's friend haha he's messed a lot up over his silly ideas. But helps run a zoo mind boggles. They said people can't cut the numbers but they didn't say my hawks can't I do it on the ground i work on and for the farmers next to us and our song bird numbers have gone up and over run with sky larks now.
I really enjoy your show, thanks so much for your enthusiasm. I've never fished, but I would love to. Would you be up for a "Totally Awesome Beginners" show?
hello Graeme have noticed the same here we had a regular fox but not seen it for ages now as for the birds i have feeders in garden which in the past had to fill every few days, now nothing in fact the fatty balls which every bird wanted have turned black and had to throw them away, like you i have no idea why? or is it something to do withh this bird flu? great video again its been a while since i saw you sea fishing again
Its so noticeable with the bird feeder. Its outside our kitchen window, filled every day,now not so...but why the Fox going ? I do wonder if the birds have died and maybe Foxes come across them, scoff them and get some form of the bird flu...Fox flu ?? There is deffo something weird going on...Or is it the fat/suet in the fat balls, bearing in mind there is a shortage of cooking oil etc ?? Mind you the peanuts are getting left and there is no cooking oil in those ??
I have heard of terrible avian flu strains damaging sea bird life, flu can jump species and there was a huge outbreak in 2011/12 perhaps this has jumped? Also swine flu….not certain but a possibility

Keep it up Graham love the videos and your lads channel is superb, chip off the old block 👌
Thanks.
Yes,plenty of vids for the long, cold winter nighhts, right round to next October in fact...I think I have 43 films on file at the last count.
Great video I am about to go in a little while surf fishing for Stripers. I’m across the pond from you lol
Good luck with the Stripers...
I do know the Spike Milligan "fallen in the water" moment. What a legend, and I'm not old. I'm not! 46
Yup that was the “Goon” show with sea goon and the gang, halcyon days indeed
Loo loo loo loo look, love you Graeme 👍😂. Can you do a few more Goons impressions. 👍
I love watching your show great work
Wow, what a boat that was, shouldn't it be in a museum ? Loved the wildlife video at the end. In my hometown, deer are still in plague proportions and many are killed on the roads, but not many people collect the free meat available.
your pic on this video is like an old english painting... like a turner but better... great shot & edit
As for the birds and deer etc, I believe that after the hot summer and mild Autumn we are having nature doesn't know what it's doing at the moment.
have you got shares in the wild duck as your always in the same boat..love it🤣
They do have different types,I get the best sea ride in the Wild Duck but any wooden boat is going to ride better than the lighter fibreglass. Mind you if I get the chance I go out in anything that floats and moves. Just want to be fishing. I think it might be beach trips for me in November.Used to be the more productive month for me anyway. Who knows what this year will bring.Probably scratching for small stuff again.
@@TAFishing love it when yr in beer as takes me back 40 years when i was a kid as i used to go there every year and fish from the boats.
Definitely alot less birds about in urban Birmingham.Have bird feeders up and the difference is very noticeable. Also Have a fox come every morning at work and he disappeared for a couple of months but has turned up again in the last two weeks.
Happy days got to give it to you buddy great video as norm
Great vid!
Amazing angler and brilliant skills 👍🏻
Great session and video, you've fished in that boat in lots of videos now and always caught lots of fish and some specimen'sas well.
Fishing by yourself out at sea do you ever get scared being alone ?..Plus do you ever get sea sick?
No,I'm really happy on my own. I know some folks just have to be near someone else, just the way they are made up I guess ,but I have never had a problem doing solo stuff,I would sooner have it that way..And I switch the phone off when fishing as well. I refuse to be dominated by it.
It's called a “BUTT PLUG” lol Love that tiny rod, i might make one myself as i've got about 30 old rods from about 5-40 years ago
I’m sitting in the lounge feeling sea sick , great vid 👍👍
Good to see you in the boat Most large birds of prey are female Quite a bit bigger
There was a Bluefin sport fishery out of Grimsby in the 1930s.
yeah mate the city will be moving in on ya soon to build more houses hmmm i wonder why?
Here near the 'Parkway' in Plymouth we do get foxes, deer, owls and other birds of prey. But this year I haven't heard the foxes, it's a possibility that they've just moved away or the plants they hide in have died back.
It's nice laying in bed with the window open listening to the owls talk, I just have no idea what they're talking about.

Is there anything other way than tellegrame? I don't have it.
My question seems to have disappeared... Can I just pop around? You're only a few minutes away.
Graeme, Dan the barman said he's just got some more of your favourite ale in, it's being chilled as we speak. See you at the hogs head tonight?
Careful everyone. There's a scammer in the comments section. They're pretending to be TA Fishing.....

Can't beat the Gooons!!!
Talk to your mate Chris about the missing birds as its all down to him. We are having the same problem. But we have thousands or magpies and crows
There is a saying.."If Pigs could fly"...Well if they could would they get Swine flu or bird flu ?...Or both...Call it Swird Flu....
Interesting methods? I did think I was watching a deleted scene from the 'Pirates of the caribbean' :)
