Back in 1965 at the age of 9...I looked across the city street from my Dad's restaurant and there I saw a 1964 Riviera parked [everyday]. I always looked inside cool cars and, the '64 Riv was a really cool looking automobile. I love those 60's large cars and the boulevard ride.
Great car!!! The styling of this Riviera is stunning like a big grand touring body with that fastback design feature, makes this car look very sleek, and yes, very sinister in black!!! What a beauty and I love that the headlights look as if they were an afterthought. It's like the designers got the car finished and said, "uh oh, we forgot the headlights, but don't want to ruin the front appearance so, okay here ya go"!!! Lol. My Mother had a 1966 Wildcat convertible, red with red interior when I was a kid and I remember setting that speedometer alarm thing, I didn't know what it was. Driving down the highway, when it went off, it startled my Dad and I kinda got in trouble!!! Lol. Thanks for sharing that Beautiful Buick!!!
Your story of setting the speed secretly and letting your dad discover it while going down the highway gave me a good chuckle for the day! Great memories!😉
Hi, Lou! Let's see...every Riviera from '63 to '85...that's 23 different ones he's had (minimum) from six generations that Jaime has owned! I'd say that's a pretty powerful influence and a pretty lasting impression his teacher has had on him! As for this "sinister" '67, you gotta admire every detail of the styling...the front end contour with the hidden headlamps, the dash with the rotating drum speedometer, the door "handles", the sleek profile, the sweeping rear with the slim taillights, etc. Clearly Bill Mitchell put all his heart and soul and every fiber of his being into this car's design. You also gotta admire how this car moves with authority thanks to that big Wildcat V-8! Obviously, Jaime and J.J. really would rather have a Buick! Thanks to all of you for taking us through Lou's country in this fabulous flier from Flint! Happy New Year! Looking forward to more amazing car stories in 2022!

What a beautiful car! My parents had a 64 Wildcat. Fantastic car with the 340 hp nail head. But I think that the Riviera was arguably the best designed and performing American GT ever built. Especially with the 465 dual carb.

With 120k miles this Riviera is a great example of a car that has been loved. Aerodynamics and coefficient of drag be dammed with the front end design of that beautiful car. Lou, I just bought a '66 Riviera in fall with this same deluxe interior. I was drawn to it by the stunning lines but it also drives fantastic for a car 24 years older than me. By far my favorite car to drive with the windows down as there is no wind buffeting thanks to that flow through ventilation system you touched on. Todays' GM could really really learn a thing or two from these how to design a car with quality interior materials. Interesting to see the Speed Alert as that's where mine sets the cruise control. Can't wait for winter to end so I can take it out for a cruise now!
The 1960’s and 1970’s Rivieras have always had their own little niche in the car design element. It seems like Buick Riviera was the car for GM to express it design innovations, with the extreme ‘Boattail’ design later on. I don’t think I ever knew about the headlights movement. Most cars have only the covers move aside. Thanks Lou, Jamie,, and JJ for a great presentation!
Goodday Lou, Sinister is abit of a understatement, the more you introduce me to more & more cars the more I learn & the more I appreciate them. After looking over this Riviera, that is 1 spunky personal cruiser. I see one occasionally in the neighboring suburb in St-Kilda that I see & boy it looks big & tough in a bronzy colour. Beautiful Back in Black Riviera. Your number 1 Fan in Australia Louis Kats from Melbourne Australia ☺ 👍 ❤
These Riviera were so sexy yet elegant. Also had a punch if you really stepped on it. This is a beautiful example. I love the sleek lines and the fact that it is stock. Great ride. Thanks for sharing Lou. Take care.
Back in the 60"s the schoolbuss driver (i dont know why) Picked us up in his 67 riv. There was room for 9 of us kids.. Was crazy.. Great memory. Very roomy 2 door to say the least! He he he!!

When I was a kid, I thought the Riv would have been front-wheel drive like its sister cars, the Toronado and Eldorado. I guess Buick thought rear-wheel drive would provide sportier performance and handling. Nice video, Lou. Thanks! Happy New Year, and the Best in 2022 to you and your family.
Here we go again. It's uncanny. My father had a 67' Riviera, Silver. All I really remember about that one (I was about 4-5yrs old) is that we went on a trip from Alberta to the Okanagan in British Columbia and on the way home going through Roger's pass, my little brother shit his pants and we had to pull over for mom to clean up the mess. (same black interior as this) I distictly remember (and heard the story many times) of dad standing in front of the car hurling while all the big trucks we just passed drove by honking their horns. hahaha
Awesome car Lou , my 2 favorite Riv's are the 65 and 67 . 1967 was the first year for the 430 motor and the chrome bar running through the grill, looks better than the 66. American personal luxury coupe's of the mid to late 60's are amazing . Winning lottery ticket buys 65 riv GS ,66 Toronado, 67 riv GS , 68 Eldorado. Thanks Lou.
Hi Steve, Happy to read you enjoy this "Awesome car" :-) Glad this is one of your two favorite Riv's. Hope your numbers come in, and then let's go for some rides! You're welcome, Lou
@@loucostabile Mate if my numbers come in you and your family are getting a free holiday down under and you can check out some of our local classics. cheers steve
Wow. I have always loved this year Riv. This is a true survivor. GM did not produce a lot of these. True sport luxury. Newer Rivs in the 80s were not as stylish and were fraught with many engine and electrical problems. These earlier models were much easier to work on and didn’t have onboard computers to deal with. This is a true sleek and desirable classic!!
White-letter tires do detract from the usual thin whitewall as presented from the factory. This car has the electro cruise but not the cornering lights that do finish off the front fenders. Overall though, a well-equipped non-GS 1967 Riviera. Many of these made it out of the factory without the power window option box checked which I never understood. Love the great condition and the black on black. Well done!
I took my driver's test at 16 in 1987 driving a 68 riv. It was olive gold metallic with an avacado Heather vinyl top and a 455. Didn't need to give it any gas to go. I want at 63/64 now.
I was expecting this car to be pretty basic because it wasn't a GS. Big surprise! The owner purchased a really loaded vehicle especially for a 67. The only thing missing was a console but in this case it really didn't matter. I love Rivieras and especially the 67 and 68's. Great find Lou. I was wondering about the poster in the trunk. You covered the jack instructions but failed to even mention the poster.

Most cars have only the covers move aside. Thanks Lou, Jamie,, and JJ for a great presentation!
Hi Rusty, Happy to read you learned something about the headlights on this car :-) My pleasure sharing with you. You're welcome, Lou
What a beautiful Buick .Love the body lines and curves

Man, this is one big, bad Buick! I love it! It sounds like Mr. Reyes definitely knows his Buicks, and this one shows it, too. Thanks, Lou!

Goodday Lou,
Sinister is abit of a understatement, the more you introduce me to more & more cars the more I learn & the more I appreciate them.
After looking over this Riviera, that is 1 spunky personal cruiser.
I see one occasionally in the neighboring suburb in St-Kilda that I see & boy it looks big & tough in a bronzy colour.
Beautiful Back in Black Riviera.
Your number 1 Fan in Australia
Louis Kats from Melbourne Australia ☺ 👍 ❤
Goodday Louis, Happy to read you enjoy this "spunky personal cruiser" :-) Thank you for being my # 1 Fan in Australia, Lou
These Riviera were so sexy yet elegant. Also had a punch if you really stepped on it. This is a beautiful example. I love the sleek lines and the fact that it is stock. Great ride. Thanks for sharing Lou. Take care.
Hi Russell, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
Beautiful car, but it was originally Riviera Red Metallic without a vinyl roof. That would’ve been an awesome color on that car as is.
Hi Rare Classic Cars, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Thank you for sharing what you know, Lou
Back in the 60"s the schoolbuss driver
(i dont know why)
Picked us up in his 67 riv.
There was room for 9 of us kids.. Was crazy..
Great memory.
Very roomy 2 door to say the least!
He he he!!
That is a great memory :-) Thank you for sharing.
Gotta love those big Ol Rivies, nice 👍! I had a 65 back in the 70’s , another real nice ride!
Hi Doug, Happy to read you "Gotta love those big Ol Rivies" :-) NICE! Lou
Bill Mitchell was the designer for GM in 1967. He was designer from 1958 - 1977. He took over the duties from Harley Earl in 1958.
HI William, Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Lou
Nice, Lou I’m still waiting for you in TX and take the wheel of my RatyRiv , and my 15 yr old Daughter who keeps a close eye on it, and enjoys helping Dad with the fine tuning and Detail work, Black is Beautiful 👍🇺🇸

A beauty that would stop traffic!
Nice :-)
this is why i like american cars so much, what a beast of a machine and beautiful too.
Nice !
Hi Mike, I can understand why you'd think that. You're welcome. Happy New Year and the best to you and your Family in 2022 too, Lou
(same black interior as this) I distictly remember (and heard the story many times) of dad standing in front of the car hurling while all the big trucks we just passed drove by honking their horns. hahaha
Hi judgegixxer, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Fathers car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

Nice car
Happy to read you enjoy this "Nice car" Dan :-)
Hi Larry C, Happy to receive a "Wow" from you :-) Lou
Well done Lou! Great Rivie, perfect video. Your work has expanded my world.
Hi Unkill Big Bad, Happy to read this is a "perfect video" :-) My pleasure sharing with you, Lou
I have bought my 67 Riviera the in May of 2000. I still I also have a black 1965 Wildcat.

Happy to read you enjoy this fine ride from Flint MI trainroomgary :-) Cheer, Lou
I had a ‘66 & a ‘69. The ‘66 was much like this car. They sure were pretty!
Hi Dave, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your cars :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
ah, yes, my kind of car, thanks lou!
Nice Mouse :-) You're welcome.
Well done!
Hi R Troxel, Happy to read you enjoy this car :-) Thank you for viewing & sharing, Lou
Sweet Riviera! Love Buicks more Buicks please
Hi Edmund, Happy to read you enjoy this "Sweet" car :-) When I find a good Buick, stay tuned, and you'll see it, Lou
Wow, that is a wicked looking Riv!!
Just the way we like it :-)
Very nice. Formal looking and correct. And nicely kept. Luxury sports car is a good characterization.
Hi pkramerable, Happy to read you think this car is "Very nice" :-) Lou
I took my driver's test at 16 in 1987 driving a 68 riv. It was olive gold metallic with an avacado Heather vinyl top and a 455. Didn't need to give it any gas to go. I want at 63/64 now.
Hi Tori, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your drivers test car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
One of the nicest i’ve seen. Stunning.
High praise :-)
Great car! Had a newer riviera once. Really liked it.
Hi Jim, Happy to read you enjoy this "Great car!" :-) Glad it brings back memories of your Riviera too, Lou
Great looking Buick Lou!!!!!!!
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car THROTTLE POWER!!!!!!!
Hi Bill, Happy to read "I love Riviera's" :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

Wow
:-)
Is it just me or is a black Riviera from this vintage a somewhat rare sight? Nonetheless this car looks stunning finished in black. Power, style, innovation, the '67 Buick Riviera - and a California example no less - has it all. Thanks gentlemen, I really enjoyed this. Happy New Year!
Hi Bruce H. It's the first 1967 Riviera on the Channel, so I'd agree and share it's a rare sight for me. My pleasure sharing this one with you. You're welcome. Happy New Year! Lou
Love these big fastbacks Lou! 👍

Makes me sad. I had a 67 silver gray with black top GS and even more bells and whistles then that beauty has. I want it back!
At least you had one.
