Ive tried tracklib its ok I like soulful records (Al Green Curtis Mayfield All of Motown) Tracklib will have to broaden the library and that Im sure is a task within its self and true a producer can alter any track any beat or instrument However it does depends on your ear and skillset Because sampling is truly an art form whether some want to believe it or not for instance J Dilla and Dj Premier are just a few who are clearly examples of the skillset but You can definitely sample and it not be noticeable
Deborah actually runs her own music clearance service, but she is an advisor to Tracklib. You can find out more about what she does and how she's involved in Tracklib on her website here: dmgclearances.com/about.php
I'm curious to know how to go about trying to release an album when one of the artists involved for most of the songs has decided he no longer wants to be apart of the project. He never signed any contract at all that states his contribution can't be used and credited.
Strange question. If you were emailing the owners and you're explaining how much of a songs sample you've used eg - 30seconds ,but u sped up the audio, Would you time the original audio or time the audio you've sped up
I would like to know about using of samples of percussions. Percussions is the ONLY thing I ever sample, but I do that from time to time. I have a library I go back to occassionally. In that library I also have percussions I´ve picked up from some "Public domain" sites. How is that in terms of legal use?
@@niels25chr1 exactly, especially with percussion which is typically just in the background of a song. i feel like if you pitch and chop it a lil bit you have nothing to worry about. but then again i’m not a lawyer lol
I'm no lawyer so take this as dude logic because it is but when you look at song credits of rock and metal bands, often the drummer is not listed in the credits. Even though the drums are on every song the drummer may only have his name credited on a couple songs or even none. This is because drums aren't included in the type of things you can copyright or receive publishing rights for.
@@SaintKines I'm late to the party but I think that's false. Simply said - any creation is copyrighted to somebody (unless it's in public domain)...either the author owns the rights or the owner who paid the author for the performance and has a contract (e.g. the label/publishing service). Any sound you didn't create on your own should be cleared, no matter the content... it's still somebody's creation. However if it's not super original sound, if you chop it and process it, it's often impossible to distinguish the original sound, so it's really a grey area... It should be cleared but I'd say people usually don't bother as clearing any sample is pain and chance of getting caught is generally very low, compared to recognising some more melodic parts. Btw Recordings in public domain where copyright expired are songs made in 1920s-30s I think, but the audio quality is so low it's usually not worth using it. (btw I'm no expert, just been interested in the sample clearance topic for some time... I know the rules may differ slightly based on what country you live but the general idea should be kinda identical all around the world.)
An example of fair use is taking a short sample to use for educational purposes. Like a teacher using a piece of a song during a lecture about court cases involving sample clearances.
I don’t mind paying for samples. But a publisher or label… (can’t recall, it came from an attorney) want “ONE MILLION DOLLARS” from me. A no name producer. 😂😂😂😂 #yeah/right lol
Could you tell more about it please? Did they find you by themselves or you reached them first? I always thought they come only if you get big with that sampled song...

If anyone is a Gambino fan here. We’re all waiting to hear that song in it’s entirety. Probably one of his best songs and it’s not even released.
Gambino is WACK - sub-par taste in music you posses...sucks to be you.
How can I clear a movie sample
Tracklib defeats the crate digger lol...I don't want to sample something so easily accessible to everyone
So contact her company and pay the fees to clear what you sampled from vinyl.
I really enjoyed this and I liked everything this lady had to say. Thank you!
Thanks for the info, subscribed!!!!!!!!!!!

What’s an example of fair use of a sample? Something that would not need clearance.
Public domain music. That’s it. Respectfully. Even one note of copyrighted music is technically illegal.
An example of fair use is taking a short sample to use for educational purposes. Like a teacher using a piece of a song during a lecture about court cases involving sample clearances.

Just stop encouraging theft.
How about just make your own original compositions and stop stealing(sampling) other artists work.
If you clear the sample legally it's not stealing. Stop hating.
