- While I am the Path of Exile 2 hype lord, I am a bit skeptical about this next Path of Exile 1 expansion being TREMENDOUS. I was on the hopium for PoE 3.21 and PoE 3.22, but after no big atlas expansions then, I think we'll get our next big PoE 1 atlas update after PoE2's early access release. Am I off base here?

They were already focusing their resources on poe2 for a while now, I don't think the beta will affect poe 1 content schedule

What if there's simply no PoE 2 info during GGG live because they have so much to reveal regarding PoE 2 that it needs its own GGG live event? Ok, I might just have overdosed on copium. Regarding 3.25 tho, I'm sure it'll be good. Idk how huge it'll be but they surely seem to fix some mishaps with the game

The biggest thing to remember is that PoE2 was originally planned to be part of PoE1 (but just called PoE - I guess, Part A and B? Not sure how they were planning for the naming part).
This means most of the PoE2 stuff had already been built and considered for PoE1. I don't think they would just waste all that work they had done. I know they were planning graphical updates... so, maybe PoE1 will get the ones they had worked on for the combo-game. But, even if not, the content that was completed? Why just toss that? It's why I really think there is a strong possibility we will be sailing to the other lands, the ones we will see in PoE2. They would make use of that effort, all the (probably YEARS of) work put into it, rather than just tossing it.
They might do other things, too... but, the idea that boats might be involved, and PoE2 is in new lands... seems like they spent time thinking what to do with all of the content they had created, and arrived at a way to make use of it: we will be sailing to the new lands, and helping to establish them, or make alliances with them, etc.
I don't think they've tossed much. I'm pretty sure the first announcement already talked about 1 game - 2 campaigns, so anything they did before splitting them into two separate games is now just in poe2. They even have all of the poe1 stuff still in that version of the game, its just not accessible without developer tools.

@@gregorybrazell5133 Yes since they made the 2 games separate they went bigger for POE 2 and the stuff they had became outdated for POE 2 so anything that could be used for POE 1 is used
I think it can go either way... it will either be like you said in the video OR it will be expansion with new content to the base game in order for a) to attract players to the game which will in turn bring people into POE2, and b) to give people more things to do if they need to make this league go for longer... and possibly also c) add something to the game that will tie the game into POE2.

i just think that ggg is already showing kind a lot before even the live , so i believe the live should showcase a great deal of things

I think this will be a big lore expansion, this is likely the last league before poe2 beta, and I think they will do something to the lore that will set poe 1 and 2 apart, maybe there will be multiple timelines and that way they could still do expansions for poe 1 without affecting poe 2 lore.

I don't think there will be an atlas expansion, melee definitely, QOL, and whatever the mechanic will be, maybe close to what heist was.
Poe1 has been developed by two guys in a dark basement for the last several leagues.
The game has been on a maintenance life support for way too long for it to be a coincidence. It's dead.
I wonder if there will ever be a 4.0 POE expansion. If GGG did that you know they are still committed to POE 1 in the long run.

I think you might be right about that not being the next expansion, but I doubt we'll have a 5 month league ahead of us. Cutting into your profit that much to push out PoE2? Doubt it
My body is so ready to play a Lacerate build. I miss it so much. lol
But regarding the news, I agree with you. I think we're more likely to see some sort of connection to PoE 2 story in this expansion. I don't think we'll get another pinnacle boss. The league might be huge and great, but the EXPANSION will probably be a more developed permanent addition to the game (such as Heist and Expedition) with a sprinkle of borrowed power from the league.
In addition to that, they already revealed some meaningful changes to past leagues that people have been asking for a long time. Now that they've confirmed that the livestream will be dedicated entirely to PoE 1, this is bound to be a MASSIVE addition to the game. Some kind of "going out with a bang" league+expansion.
This sounds like they've been cooking things for a good while, only to deliver most of them now, right before PoE 2 closed beta, which makes sense. They surely don't want the "last league" to be something minimal. They're 100% aiming to get PoE 1 as hyped as PoE 2 as possible to minimize the effects of the separation of both games. And to close it with a POSSIBLE boat league... AND POSSIBLE MASSIVE MELEE CHANGES??? Fkn hell... Necropolis had me hyped, but it's not even close to what I'm feeling right now.
Poe 1 4.0 has to release, some day.
I don't know I think I've learned to temper my expectations with these things. I think what would be really cool is if somehow they were using this league to tie POE1 into POE2 as I believe has been suggested.

This patch is going to be awesome, so many new changes coming to both mapping and mechanics. Think you're wrong on a lot of points in the video, but thats what speculating is for! Hype!!!
I'm really hoping for some Delve changes that makes it more appealing for mortals engage with the machanic a bit more :)

My expansion hope will not be diminished! My mind is a steel bastion that can handle potential disappointment and I will allow my expectations to be unrealistic!
I hope GGG become more and more experimental with PoE1 to try stuff for PoE2, maybe confirm that and ask for all the feedback of the content creators and the top 10% of players, or at least the ones that do different content all the time and those that specialize in 1 or 2 mechanics, imagine a couple of leagues of "return of the leagues" with tons of QoL and general improvements to some of the most obtuse or annoying mechanics. Like what they're doing for simulacrums and could even do a "teleport node" in delve to have basically a dps/survival test and then you can choose if you want to start on depth 100 or go straight to 500, 600, 700, 1k, etc...
Its so hard to wait sometimes. Poe 2 release still far away and every day i just need a new teaser!
I too fully expect 3.26 to come in January. Basically a 4 month league followed by a month of December events. I just hope they are more inspired events this time not recycled from the past.
As for 3.25, I just hope it has enough meat on the bones to keep players engaged for longer. I would love to see altars gone they were great but they overstayed their welcome at this point. I also don't expect that to happen either. I don't even expect them to rework gladiator.
I think with T17s and the full overhaul of the scarab system they have given themselves enough work for 3.25 and with poe2 so close to beta launch... I just don't see them having the manpower and resources to do everything (balance pass on T17s, reiterate on scarabs again, produce a league mechanic, skill balance pass, ascendacy rework, atlas expansion). Its way too much. I just hope the game is in a better state than Necropolis
Yes I do think we will be getting an expansion because that's what they've been calling every league for a while now, they explained that they think every league brings enough content to wualify as an expansion. But no, I don't think we will get a major end game overhaul or new pinnacle bosses but it would be badass if we did. I just want some nice melee buffs and a fun league mechanic.
Or 3.25 could be a 3 months league, which means we would get a new one before POE 2 and after they are done fixing 3.26, then they could focus on POE 2.
I’m not sure what to expect , but I’m hoping in some way melee will be a little better , it’s such a fun part of the game I wish would shine at lower currency budgets.

3.25 is the last league before poe 2 beta. The next season will have terrible retention when everybody is playing poe2 beta
I am more of a hoping for new expansion, since they need new things and good league to put us back on, lot of us quitted necropolis, because to me, it was even worse than kalandra.
For me, they already disapointed me for being 1,5 or more years late with expansion.
They claimed that PoE 2 will NOT impact PoE1 at all, but to me it looks otherwise, so it pretty bitter for me and my group. So i hope that we will forget about that 2.21 not having expansion and we will be back on track.
Also, T17 feels like borrowed from future, so i hope they will not destroy the league 3.25.
Personally I think this one will very much be a story league to establish somethings moving into PoE2. I don't expect this to be an Atlas league mainly because they do that sort of thing in Q3/4. When they do, I expect them to reset the world with the "Divine Devastation" that the PoE2 trailer talked about.

Tri, I totally agree. In fact, when they announced massive changes to Atlas, they explicitly announced the name of the expansion in the preview. Siege of the Atlas, Conquerors, Echoes, etc.
Yes, I hope more than I think, that it will be a fun expansion and that it will allow us to entertain ourselves for 1 month and a half, at least. Until Star Wars: Outlaws comes out, to be more specific. Hahaha.
Honestly, they really need an atlas expansion to recover from Necropolis... It's been too long since the last quality league. (While I loved Affliction, there was nothing that good about it besides loot).
They probably need a big team for a new atlas endgame expansion, i doubt we will get that. I hope we do but it's just COPIUM.

why would they do a massive overhaul on POE 1? it makes zero sense with their sequel coming soon. POE will be a new content graveyard once POE 2 hits.
They don't use word "expansion" unless it is expansion.
They used it this time and they did use it ALONG the new challenge league.
We are getting an expansion and new league mechanic.
The only question is how good will the expansion be.

They are way overdue for a fundamental meta shake up. I don't mean new gems but rather how players select nodes on their trees and how they gear, like what happened in Scourge league.
Hmmm... 3.25, rumors of boat league, TITANIC... I C WUT YOU DID THAR!! HUR HUR HUR!! I have to agree, this is going to be a huge expansion we haven't seen for a while. I think PoE 1 leagues will start back up in December/January and go back to their 3/3.5 month rotation again. And I think each PoE 1 Subsequent league will introduce more and more changes from PoE 2 so it is a more seamless transition between both games. One change I see coming soon is being able to shoot your bow while moving, as well as casting while moving as well.
Not saying it's an atlas expansion, but there si certainly something kinda big to be announced (Maybe the league mechanic is just insane) because the teaser so far have been bigger than before, so if they announce old mechanic rework is a simple teaser, I feel there must be something else to be announce in the big reveal.
i joined path of exile because i saw that peoples were going fast and got alot loot. i think i will never play poe 2 if its slow as they have shown so far.

One thing that I just came to realize--the atlas tree, as it currently stands, feels like a step back from when we first got Maven--because back then, across the different Maven regions, we were able to have not only different mini atlas trees per region, but also craftable watchstones per region. So whether it was farming harbies in Valdo's rest, or farming Harvest in atoll on Haewark Hamlet, the echoes of the atlas trees gave us some customization, and the uncharted realms tree gave us more customization *STILL*.
Now? Juice up map effect, juice up quant, max out exactly one league of content, and juice it with scarabs.
We have more specializations but less overall variety now. And that's kind of a shame. I wonder if 3.25 changes that up a bit.

Honestly at this point I prefer they stop supporting PoE1 and rather focus 100% on supporting PoE2. I didn't expect Blizzard to keep supporting D3 after D4 came out. Its the same for every game, when the sequel is out, Devs stop supporting the prequel.
im afraid poe2 will be a huge loss for ggg . i would say a two years of loss , because community will be split , probably 60 / 40 ,across both , core gamers will get burned faster , and casuals will like or hate , it will be a hige prob , before they decide to merge both games into one , but that will take time and pain and losses , sad years ahead
Or they can simply stop supporting PoE1 and just focus 100% on PoE2, like every other company in the history of gaming. No point in supporting the prequel when the sequel is out. It's like keep making games for PS3 or PS4, when the current generation is about PS5...
