Thank you for posting this. One of Jansch's finest moments as a guitarist, singer, composer, and lyricist. My list of favorite Jansch songs changes, but this one is always there. It has a genuine, rough sweetness to it that almost no other artist can communicate so well.
This video just might make the internet a better place.

One of my major major influences. He,Davy Graham,John Martyn,John Renbourn and Roy Harper gave me lots to aspire to as an acoustic singer/guitarist in the 60's.Great time to be a fledgling musician in Scotland.Dylan's Blowin' in the Wind and Don't Think Twice started me off,and these guys kept the fire burning, as did The Incredible String Band.

thank you,i discovered bert pretty recently. "he's a dreamer girl..." always hits home, followed by THAT riff.the man is, in my opinion, an unrivalled genius and an inspiration. he shows that the man without accompaniment can affect in the same way as a band and that love can be transmitted (in all its forms) through the musical vision of a singular man.

Another gem from Bert. Like the earlier performance of Blackwaterside, it was originally posted by boundroundsound, and deleted by UA-cam, folowing a complaint from the guy who controlled the venue, claiming copyright. Let's hope it does not happen this time. Bert got this song from English singer Ann Briggs. The guitar work was stolen by Jimmy Page; re-worked and called Black Mountainside. Bert is one of the true "Greats".

Perhaps you're familar with at least some of these artists and records:
John Renbourn (hear "The Hermit" and "The Lady and the Unicorn")
Pentangle (band with both Jansch and Renbourn, "Basket of Light" is a nice record to start with)
Shirley Collins (start with "False True Lovers")
Shirley Collins AND Davy Graham ("Folk Roots, New Routes")
Anne Briggs ("The Time Has Come")
      Jackson C. Frank (self-titled album)
Robbie Basho ("Visions of the Country")
      John Fahey ("Blind Joe Death")
Leo Kottke ("6- and 12-String Guitar")
      Nick Drake
Since you like Jansch you'll probably like all of the above, I'd say.

@@estheblessed81 awesome man, love them. Very accomplished musicians. There's quite a bit of footage of them on here if you look around. One full gig in my own country (it's from Norwegian TV) in 1968 and some on British and Australian television of later date. My favourite clip is probably "Willy O' Winsbury" on the Set of Six program in '72.
They covered the title track off that Anne Briggs record in that '68 gig by the way. Also Bert & John covered it on their duo album. Briggs was a big influence on Jansch early on in the 60s.
Sorry to go on about that, lol - but there are many connections here.

Was he just filmed playing in a venue for this? Just curious about the cutaways in the pub, they look a little strange (like they might have only had one or two cameras and shot them outside of the song?) Also find it wierd that you can't see a mic in the shots of him, guess maybe there just a couple really good directional mics picking up his guitar and voice..
