It makes me so happy to see someone who is embracing the Victorian aspects of the house rather than wanting to replace them (the beautiful floor tiles, the fireplaces etc.), and actively wanting to buy antique/vintage pieces rather than buying everything new. I'm sure it's going to look beautiful, but more than that, it will have soul.
I agree! Loved Rachel. Never knew such a job existed but would definitely look into this next time we move because I completely botched the colours in our current home 😂
Tip for floors - before you cover the kitchen floorboards - remove and use some of the original floorboards from the kitchen to replace any areas that need replacing in other rooms where it’ll be seen.

I love your videos Tan ❣Although I love what you're doing with the house, I really think you should have an architect working with you! I can't stress how important it is to have a professional with you throughout this whole process! It would help you control unnecessary (extra) costs that appear because things weren't planned beforehand and help you materialize the vision you have for your home. Builders (although with alot of knowledge) do not replace the work that architects do! xx

I have two boys, one in Kindergarten and a one year old - and my boyfriend and I are doing our own home renovations (but no builders, just us🥲) to our old house. You are not alone with the overwhelming feelings! I wish I could chat with you because I felt so seen when you expressed that it’s so new to you to make all these decisions. I’ve only ever done projects - but renovations, I’ve now learned, are SO different from projects! Schoolhouse White is such a wonderful colour that definitely changes drastically based on the light you get. We have it in almost every room in our house we love it so much (for us it looks like a goose/duck white)

Get one of the ikea islands second hand and play around with it in the space. That's how we figured out if we had space for an island. We just pushed the dining table against the wall across from it and popped a bench on the wall side

Love the color consult and renovation content. At first when you said you are giving up a bathroom to convert for your wardrobe I cringed because of resale value. But maybe it's different from the US there in London. Looking forward to more great content. Love that you are preserving the floors and those original tiles are incredible!

My son decorated he’s downstairs toilet in a dulux paint that was so similar to that FB one, even with the yellowy undertone. Worked so well, so please with it. Loving the reno chats, so excited for you 😊

It was nice seeing the layout of the old one seeing as we've watched you for years and only seen bits of it loool but please carry on doing videos like this/updating us on the reno's as we've been obsessed with renovation videos recently, especially UK ones as hopefully we'll be buying our first home soon xx
Also, we used to have Joa's white in our bedroom when we first decorated it, it is a very cosy warm colour but we ended up changing to wimborne white which is what we still currently have now. It's light but still has warmth to it during the day even when we put the ceiling lights on (they're 4000k lights so it's like a daylight light) but at night when we have the warmer lights on like the pendants and table lamps (i think they're 2700k lights), it does shift to a warmer beige and looks very cosy. As nice as it is looking at the colour swatches on the paper I highly recommend actually getting some testers and painting a section before settling and buying big pots of them and just going for it xx

Vanity Hall do gorgeous traditional vanity sink units, very classic and timeless, we love ours from them 👌🏻

Hi Tanya, In my bathroom, I’ve also got a nib wall. I added a tiled niche to add my shampoo and soap bottles. Easy for the tiler to do. Is that what you had in mind? 😊
The colour consultant was so informative! I've just got to the paint part of my kitchen and i've been painting patches on every wall! How have I never thought of painting on a white sheet of paper!?
