What’s sad is this is not unique and we will start to see these cracks form in many industries. I can easily say the for-profit health system in the US will collapse in the next 20 years. It’s so bad already.
I listen to elderly patients wishing they could be placed in long term care, either receiving no home care or feeling a burden to their loved ones. This will be the new normal, 67 hour ER wait times, 1 year for a follow-up with your Dr.
      It’s very very bad.

They ONLY tested the store bought versions for heavy metals or phthalates and later compared the store bought versions nutritional information to the public meal versions. In the report itself it says "CR tested 12 store-bought lunch and snack kits for lead and obtained sodium levels from the nutrition labels on each package. ". And later they say "To make meal kits that qualify for the National School Lunch Program, Kraft Heinz created different versions of its Turkey & Cheddar Cracker Stackers and Extra Cheesy Pizza Lunchables. CR didn’t test these two kits for heavy metals or phthalates, but we did review their nutrition information and ingredients lists. "

Hi, Arizonan here. Fun fact: the way the law is worded doesn't specify that it's about abortion. It's worded as anything that "procures a miscarriage." That could, in the wrong hands, include medical assistance for missed miscarriages. At nine weeks, my baby's heartbeat stopped (nothing could have been done by me or the drs, the baby was dead), but my body didn't expell the tissue naturally. I had to take a medication to induce the miscarriage. If I didn't, the dead tissue would have made me sick and eventually killed me. Under the current wording of the law, that medical assistance could have landed my drs in prison for 2-5 years.

The heartbreak and hysteria across Canada was instant. Places all over Canadian internet flooded with messages of "Did we break up?" "Did we do something wrong?" "We miss Canada's boyfriend!"

About Boeing: My dad was an engineer for the company for a number of years. A massive reason their having these issues now is the cost saving measures they took with their employees.
Between the union busting and laying off experienced employees in favor of younger, but cheaper, talent - you get problems like this.

Now my brother works for Spirit and sees exactly what you are talking about, unreliable people who don't last a month before simply not showing up, incompetents who can't be fired because of union protections, and shady higher ups who conveniently don't have the information the investigators need. I used to be proud that I had family who worked for Boeing, but now I can't help but wince every time my dad sees a news story of some new Boeing scandal, and hope my brother works up the courage to quit and work on his engineering degree or get pink slipped and be able to collect unemployment for a while.

Of course it was a new plane, a major build failure like this is most likely going to happen to a new plane.
If you account for all the millions of miles flown by the vast majority of every fleet, YOUR plane won't fall out of the sky, MINE won't either. Thousands of flights every day, all are fine. I'm not excusing Boeing at all for that fuck-up, they need to fix their shit. But at the same time, it's fear mongering to claim this is more than a blip. More people die from essentially anything else than Boeing crashes. Stories making it sound like they've been falling out of the sky once a year are hyperbolic - it's drama.

Arizona did this because the US Supreme Court did the same thing.
When overturning Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court had to go back to when the Nation was created to say it was illegal then for women to have abortions, therefore that was the law of the land.
But in their ruling they also forgot to account that inter-racial marriages were illegal. Conservatives found hard for almost 50 years to get Roe v. Wade, the law of the land, overturned and the Conservative Justices all said they wouldn't overturn Roe v. Wade as it was 'the law of the land'. Ok I'm going to try and say this as nicely as I can but....... The reason this happened......Is because of liberals.
You see, liberals have a very "special" way of looking at the world.
They really like the concept of "The Law" and love contracts and official documents.
They love it when a celebrity gives a big meaningless speech that accomplishes nothing.
The fatal flaw of the liberal is that they see the passing of a law as the end of the fight.
1967 - "Yay! We won! Now we have the right to interracial marriage, Ok everybody time to go home, we are done here."
1973 - "Yay! We won! Now we have abortion rights, Ok everybody time to go home, we are done here."
2015 - "Yay! We won! Now we have the right to gay marriage, Ok everybody time to go home, we are done here."
The thing is that the fight never ended (and it literally never will).
There is a saying that I heard once and it stuck with me ever since. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance"
I want you to remember this saying and repeat it every day, internalize it, embrace it, and understand it.
Once you do understand it, you'll realize one very important thing.
There is no such thing as victory, the battle will go on forever.
The only question is, Are you going to do nothing and let everybody you love be forced to live the worst imaginable life, or are you going get off your phone and DO something about it ? And I don't mean hold up a sign and proclaim your displeasure, I mean are you willing to deprive your enemy of the way of life that they want to live ?
Next time you go to Wal-mart, think about how they donated to the people who took your rights away, how they helped get them elected.
Maybe they deserve to lose out on some profits.

every story about violent jealousy makes me profoundly grateful I neither feel possessive towards those I love, nor tolerate being seen as a possession of any lover or partner. One violently jealous paranoid was enough for me-- screaming at e every time a random stranger checked out my 24-year-old self, accursing me of "broadcasting toxic seductiveness" that to him meant I could never, ever be trusted no after how may years we were exclusive (I didn't WANT to sleep with anyone else, but he wanted me to feel both incapable of it and liable to have it "happen" anytime by accident, and guilty all the time)
Luckily jealousy is not universal and now I've shared more than 25 years with two lovely partners while we raised our equally excellent kid, who just cast his first ballot in the midterms :) It's consent and communication, not screaming anger about "who has rights to whom", he learned as the basis of a solid marriage and family.

the story of Elisa was definitely a rollercoaster. At first, i thought "okay she is distraught, understandable," but then it just got worse and worse. for reckless driving, Doxing Sara, technically theft if she used the money of Skoro, and lastly assault.
cheating in a horrible thing but can be excusable depending on the circumstances, but Elisa had no emotional control and put herself and other drivers in danger, personally to me it seems like self defense, she already hit him multiple times, getting her to stop and removing her from the vehicle and especially the drivers seat was IMO a necessity to stop her dangerous behavior.
all around, they both suck but Elisa did things that were dangerous when she could've and should've handled it better.

    • @malcire
      @malcire 27 днів тому +6

It's unfortunate (cause it is a crazy law). But that tends to be what happens when a law becomes unenforceable but isn't removed. If it becomes enforceable again, it may be enforced. It's why removing the laws can be important to do.
I'm not surprised it wasn't removed. Legislators often don't seem the most aware of what laws are what. An example being all of the things that were made legal when states revoked their sodomy laws (a lot of them covered things outside of homosexuality); seemingly with multiple legislatures not realizing that until later.

As a resident of the great plains of Texas, those tumble weeds are terrible, but they are far from the only invasive species that is destroying local ecology.
Unfortunately, the hot, arid environment prevents most invasive species from invading, but the few that do quickly overwhelme the native populations. Hickory, bush-trees, cactus, and native grasses are some of the few that can survive, but are pushed out by tumble weeds. After the devastation of the ecosystem during colonization, and subsequent over-agriculturalization resulted in the dust bowl of the 1930s. Very few ecosystems survived without being taken over by various aggressive invasive species.
I grew up around horny toads, a type of lizard that were so common you couldn't walk more than 100ft without finding one. But, I haven't seen one over 10 years, I fear they are soon to be extinct. I have so many good memories of picking them up as a kid and rubbing their tummies until they fell asleep in your hand. An abortion ban that only has an exception “to save the life of the mother” will result in needless death and suffering. Pregnancy is inherently risky, and a woman is always at increased risk of death while pregnant than while not-pregnant. How close to death does a woman have to be in order for it to be “ok” to provide an abortion or give pregnancy-ending medication? What percent risk of death is necessary before doctors are willing to risk going to JAIL? An ectopic pregnancy (non-viable pregnancy where embryo implants outside of the uterus) is life-threatening if left untreated, though many women initially present in stable condition. Does a doctor have to wait until a patient is actively dying before they intervene, and just *hope* they can fix the issue in time to save their life? Bc anything short of that seems like they’d be risking criminal charges! What about if the mother has cancer and can’t receive chemo while pregnant? Delaying treatment may or may not result in her death, but would certainly decrease her risk of surviving. Sure a reasonable judge would understand the circumstances, but if we had an abundance of reasonable judges then we wouldn’t be in this position in the first place.
