Preach, you are one of the most enjoyable people to listen to on youtube. I'm definitely glad I stumbled upon your videos. Thanks for the class guides!
If you spam Savage Roar before entering the fight, you get a 14 second buff and yeah.. Really low chance to get Predatory Swiftness Proc, so you might be able to apply a strong Rake early.
Best advice for any energy based class was given in this video. Dont spam. People seem to think that unless they spam all the time, they are losing DPS. AS LONG as your energy doest hit 100 you arent losing any dps.
With the 2 set bonus active it's better to use shred than mangle while making sure to use as much energy on those two during the proc as possible. Remember that your first cast will be free (clearcasting), so shred is better there for sure. Also shred has a higher DPE which means that the proc is more effective if mostly used on shred. The same logic applies during TF. If you can still get the desired finishing move, it's better to use shred during TF because of it's increased DamagePerEnergy.
I love how this video overal, not just the guide, also how he presents it, way better than some borning monotone guides out there Keep up the good work!
It does change your rotation and it does change your stat priorities. Without RoR you want: Mastery > Crit >> Haste. With RoR you want mastery, crit and haste to be as close to equal as possible while mastery should be (perfect scenario) one point ahead. And every time RoR procs your rotation definitely changes. Thrash > Swipe (on AoE without ToT 4 piece); Rake > Mangle/Shred (sometimes not the case with new 2 piece). Also a 4 point rip is worth using at times.
The trinket is quite important and tbh should be mentioned in some way at least. Stuff like that is what makes the difference between a noxxic/in-game spec info -guide and a good one.
Rake is more DPE during a RoRo proc and by not using shred during a RoRo proc when you have already applied Rip, you're saving the potential up-time you would gain from extending Rip with Shred by waiting to do it outside of the RoRo proc since the trinket has a tendency to proc back to back or at close intervals. Example: If you had just applied a Rip with like 5 seconds left on a RoRo proc, it's better to wait til the proc falls off before starting to extend rip because it can proc again.
daniel holme The one he uses in this video is called "Tell Me When". Its a bit complex at first but Preacher has a video on how to set it up on his channel.
Yes of course it means that your stat priorities change. You would never reforge for haste normally for instance. Also thrash initial hit does indeed have a better DpE than swipe (unless the ToT 4 piece or SoO 2 piece is active) with RoR active. Thrash does not cost twice the energy of swipe at all; 50 energy vs 45. And no... normally you don't cast 4 cp rip. Only if you have a proc (as strong as RoR) active and it's your only chance to get a rip boosted by it.
It doesn't change your rotation and it doesn't change your stat priorities... You just have to snapshot it with all of your bleeds when it procs which you should be doing anyways as a feral druid with good trinkets.. Your stat priorities are still mastery > crit >= haste, you just want to keep haste and crit as close together as possible and mastery slightly above them both.
for two main reasons when u get a clearcasting proc with the 2set bonus u have 50% damage buff on mangle, shred and FB and ravage, with mangle using 35energy u can squeeze in more mangle than shred, and with having a 4set bonus and less up time duration on RoR using mangle get u faster to 5cp and u can cast a finishing under TF and before RoR ends... but yet again I'm not saying don't use shred again, use it when u have berserk up or TF and u don't want to re-apply a stronger rip
I don't understand what you mean. My default combo point builder is mangle/shred. I only use rake when it is falling off, new one is stronger or during RoR procs (rake initial hit has a higher DpE than mangle/shred with RoR up). Exceptions to this is: when Tier16 2 piece is active or when you need the rip extend from shred/mangle.
Overall good guide, there are some minor flaws. Thrash has priority over shred on a clearcasting when you dont have one up yet. Second and most important is tracking bleed strength, clipping weaker bleeds with stronger ones is what will make you do godlike dps so tracking this with weakaura or other addons is mandatory for better play, esp -25%hp. Berserk should be preferably used after tf always as the tf dmg bonus and high energy after make ur berserk strong. Thanks and well done on this video.
With my 20% extra healing, personal healing, plethora of cooldowns and bear form (should I need it), we felt it was better to have me reliably soak each one. Made it a lot less messy. I do need to mention that it was 10 man though. Dps isn't a problem anymore unless you mess up terribly (did happen for our kill but oh well.. got the job done).
What does the new set bonus have to do with mangle vs shred? In fact using Shred with clearcasting procs is an even greater dps increase with the new bonus.
The glyph doesn't increase healing done. It increases healing received. If the heal goes on yourself by chance then I suppose it would be increased, but otherwise it won't.
Ive been thinking about making a feral druid, but Im not a big fan of staring at its butt all the time and I am one of those proud of my gear, but at the same time Ive been thinking of making a rogue, but soloing with a rogue is hard due to survivability, both have quite good dps, and I do not like monk in a way, so I have no idea which one to pick, I do want a leather wearer, so I need help. :(
NV is indeed good for paragons if you have your feral take the scorpion (which you don't because of vengeance on your tanks). Remember that all the ferals he mentioned raid 25 man, the added SINGLE cooldown doesn't benefit them that much.
A question becouse your rake and rip will maintain the dream of cenarius buff if there duration is still active when cenarius procc buff wears off when the boss fall below 25% your rip will be constantly refreshed by feroices bite will it have the cenarius buff 2 it until boss is dead or rip falls off? Or do u still need 2 reapply it when Cenarius procc as u need 2 do with rake and thrash?
I've been playing Feral for a long time, well since BC anyway. I just started playing mop again and I might try using mangle. I've been getting away with my shreds and bites though. I've been using omen on thrash, so I'm interested to see how this rotation goes.
Is it really okay to sit at 5 combo points for 10 or so seconds though??? I'm no expert but if you CDs like tigers fury or berserk, you have the clear up time to get them back up. Also what about faerie fire for the sunder armor affect?
Heard about Stenhaldi for instance? DoC is only the clear winner when utility doesn't matter at all. You know.. many of those ferals aren't in tip/top guilds either, they are just active in theorycrafting. They'll suit their talents for the fight they are facing (as you should too). Also they all raid 25 man, which makes the difference of one tranquility matter less. In 10 man HotW should not be overlooked.
Hey, what are your addons which tell you how long is left on your bleeds, savage roar, etc? Would love to install that! Respond ASAP plz, you'll earn my sub.
That still doesn't change your stat priorities. Mastery still has priority over haste and crit.. Just because you keep them close together, doesn't mean the priority of the stats changes. Your AoE priority is wrong. Once thrash is up, there's no longer a need to re-apply it since it costs twice the energy of swipe and you just want it up for the bleed. As for your single target, that is always the case since you'll get the most up-time out of rip by extending it outside of using a RoRo proc.
The biggest argument for shred vs. mangle is that mangle lets you squeeze out a few more FB's over the span of a fight and honestly FB is literally 5% of my damage tops on most fights depending on the execution phase-length. Shred is still about 5% more effective in terms of DPE and DPS. Running Shrangle as your CP builder is only really effective with DoC builds and most top end guilds won't let you run without HoTW on progression. TL:DR: Shred is better.
With RoR the best reforge sometimes has more haste than crit. It's all relative to the gear you have. That's not the case without RoR. I call that a different stat priority. And yes the biggest argument for mangle is the 5 energy; still that doesn't change the fact that shred has a higher DpE. And yes thrash with RoR is higher DpE than swipe with RoR and without 4 piece T15 or 2 piece T16 active. Also I must have misunderstood what you said about rip. Sry for that.
What did you mean with "As for your single target, that is always the case since you'll get the most up-time out of rip by extending it outside of using a RoRo proc" by the way?
"Tell Me When" is the addon he uses. Its a bit complex at first but once you learn how to use it, it becomes very powerful and useful. Preacher has a video on how to use it somewhere on his channel.
There are a few good ones to track your bleeds. He is using ClassTimer in the video, I used it for a long time. Now I just use TellMeWhen, both are very good
What are the addons your using? You said you use TellMeWhen, but I DLed it and tried it but it doesn't have the bars like yours has or the combo point marker like yours. Can you list the addons you use please? :) I really like how your cooldown addon shows the duration of the dots and buffs but I can't seem to find it for myself :(
U have to think about the amount of finishing spell that u can use since mangle is more energy efficient. and on top of that with the new tier set bonuses using shred unless ur under effect of TF and Berserk is a dps loss. coming from an experience feral druid!
Can someone please tell me what is That UI and name plates addons?? I have been looking for them for hours. I got TellmeWhen and Class Timer and the dmg meter already, just wanna know the one makes the chat window, action bars heath bars. I know it is not ElvUI but they look pretty similar.
The chatbox is just the chatbox with a panel behind it from the addon KGpanels, the text itself is stylized by Prat 3.0, the action bars look just to be bartender 4 with maybe a skinning addon (pretty easy to figure out, don't know off the top of my head). The unit frames are Pitbull unit frames and the nameplates are the default tidyplates carbon or graphite (I think thats what its called).. I think. but it is definitely a default tidyplates skin. goodluck!
You do know that shred only cost 5 more energy than mangle right? An it does much more damage. You want to start in stealth with SR and then open with Ravage and then rake pop TF and shred up to 5 CP and rip then pop berserk up to 5 and reapply a 5 point SR and then shred and rake as needed and keep reapplying dots and throw in a FB when you can
Shred does not in fact do "much more damage" than Mangle. After testing on a target dummy, Shred, with bleeds on the target to maximize its damage, did a full 1% more damage than Mangel. Out of 25 attacks with each, Shred did 2,353,127 damage while Mangle did 2,246,806 damage. The difference was shred, in this test, doing 22.8% of my overall damage in 25 uses while mangle did 21.8% of my damage in 25 uses. By the data it would appear that Shred had a marginal advantage, but that is also deceiving. Breaking it down to damage per point of energy spent, shred comes out to roughly(with bleeds to boost its damage) 2353.127 damage per point of energy. Mangle on the other hand comes out to roughly 2567.778 damage per point of energy. With 25 shreds, that comes out to 1000 energy spent, while mangle only used 875 energy. Using the Data we have, if you were to calculate the TOTAL damage to energy ratio for 1000 energy it would come out to Mangle ROUGHLY doing 2,567,000 damage while shred ends up doing the originally stated 2,353,127 damage. This would put mangle, on a point per point basis, ahead of shred. So taking into account the energy cost, Mangle actually does a good bit more damage than shred per point of energy spent and as such is prioritized over shred.
I actually went HotW because of dps mostly compared to utility. I was on duty to soak every melee orb while we just cleave the slowing blob down, as I can shift out of the slow (still difficult to soak at times). This means that I was out of range at times and used some gcds for shifting. As such I felt that DoC would only add to the trinket RNG that makes up my dps. Also I was asked to tranq at the end of the blood rage. Dps is at this point not the most important part of the fight anymore :)
Just because it's decent for an extreme situation, doesn't mean it trounces HotW or DoC on that fight... NV is below both in terms of DPS and HoTW is much more utility and healing.
Yeah. Don't use your Clearcasting on Shred. Use it on trash instead. Dont be afraid to Ferocious Bite when your Savage Roar and Rip look good. The basics of this video still stand, don't spam and keep your basic buffs/debuffs up.
There actually is a point where mastery becames better than going full agi. It's after about 32k ungemmed agi (or something like 572ilvl). Not many ppl get to that, and those on low ilvl copy/pasting the top ferals for secondary stats are just doing it wrong.
Understand. And I do have mastery on there. He just carried on about a feral in agi gear, nothing else. I admit I still have work to do as I just recently add feral as a secondary spec.
Not to mention that using Shred as your filler is still very viable and using mangle only serves as a cheesy gimmick to milk the most out of FB by being able to get off a few more frequent finishers.
"Tell Me When". Its fairly complex to set up the first time but once you figure out how to work it, it becomes a VERY powerful tool. Preacher has a video on how to set up and configure the addon somewhere on his channel.
u get 20% more damage on shred as long as you have a bleed and it costs 5 energy more than mangle. That being said, isnt the 5 energy worth using shred over mangle everytime??? so 20% more dmg for 5 energy also.. shouldn't you use your clearcasting on thrash?? I hear it puts out the most damage output for it being free
Arent you going to be behind the boss most of the time in raids???? As long as you have a bleed up it seems like you should prioritize shred over mangle.
I know you didn't have it on your Druid but you should have mentioned the Rune of Re-Origination trinket. It changes your stat priorities and rotation and is a BiS trinket for this patch even though it is from last tier.
Meh on Malkorok HC I'd take DoC. The ranged are doing all of the orb soaking and the melee only have to soak one puddle. Our dps check was tight as shit when we killed it so I need to do as much as I could.
Well the whole point of my argue was based on DoC builds, that's what I am rolling with right now... and about top end guilds not letting ferals run without HoTW ur kinda wrong or at least based on feral players that I know - Fragnance,Methode - Kronic - Miller - Edgy - Paloro, static they all used DoC during progression. U can pick NV for paragon or HoTW for fights that might help ya for better chance for AoEing but other than that DoC is the winner.
Thank you Preach! I was using that energy to spam abillities instead of keeping savage roar up. Btw i am inscribe master 600, if you are on Europe server i can make you the cat form glyph ;) unfortunately i can't make the stampeding roar tho :P
No it isn't.. Shred is more DPE and it does more base damage AND more damage with bleeds up. Plus with the 2pc, Shred is even more worthwhile than mangle. THAT is plenty of reason not to mangle spam. Ebon Detonator is not even one of our BiS trinkets.. It's at most, an interim upgrade until you either get your hands on a RoRo or a talisman which are really the only options this tier.
Yeah. A feral shouldn't take it on hc anyways because tanks have so much vengeance. I just explained his reasoning for mentioning NV. I actually thought about using NV for Malkorok HC, but decided against it. It's pretty terrible dps/utility wise.
Preach, you are one of the most enjoyable people to listen to on youtube. I'm definitely glad I stumbled upon your videos. Thanks for the class guides!

whats the addon for tracking timers?
I got one from Curse called ClassTimers and you can choose which spells you want to be timed etc. :3

Dwarven Discussions -- Kelly thanks
rogue power bars can help you too
Just back in the game after 2 years, just to echo so others, do you have an addon vid or list somewhere?
Yes of course it means that your stat priorities change. You would never reforge for haste normally for instance.

has this guy done a video one what addons he uses?
i like the timers on the unit frame
@MultiUnknowen he says because they do relatively the same damage but mangle costs less so it's more energy efficient.

what addon do u have to cast bar? and what for the active spell?
Ive been thinking about making a feral druid, but Im not a big fan of staring at its butt all the time and I am one of those proud of my gear, but at the same time Ive been thinking of making a rogue, but soloing with a rogue is hard due to survivability, both have quite good dps, and I do not like monk in a way, so I have no idea which one to pick, I do want a leather wearer, so I need help. :(
does the glyph of cat form also increase the healing done by the passive heal as well?

You have to set the group to Bars instead of Icons. Preacher has a video on how to set up and config TMW somewhere on his channel.
That always happened when videos are being uploaded. It takes time for it to reach 1080p.
U have to think about the amount of finishing spell that u can use since mangle is more energy efficient. and on top of that with the new tier set bonuses using shred unless ur under effect of TF and Berserk is a dps loss. coming from an experience feral druid!
I re-speced to Feral and with only about 40% crit and 55% mastery, it rips things to shreds! Can't wait till I get some GOOD gear to play with!

Resto guide is already up, there's also a gameplay vid up.
When are you doing the balance guide?
Wish you still typed in the rotation like you did in 5.3 guides
What was the addon which showed the duration of rip, savage roar etc?
ClassTimer

And shred does the same damage as mangle + 20% if the target is bleeding , why would you use mangle more often?
Are you going to be doing a death knight guide?
preachy why is mangle better when shred deals 20% more dmg while there are bleeds on the target?
hey dude i see your plates above your enemies that addon i cant find it anywhere
Hey thats a nice guide. I setup my feral druid but im still fuzzy on the shot rotation. Where did you find that damage indicator? It looks cool
I actually went HotW because of dps mostly compared to utility. Every time i want to quit wow i will end up watching one of your videos and wanted to play again :(
He does a guide for every class & spec, all he's asking for is a little patience.
i must suck so bad... im doing everything you are doing and i cant get my ass over 30k dps wih 485 gear...i have no idea what im doing wrong
Hey mike, I'm currently considering coming back to the game and curious as to if its really worth it. I quit back in cata.
7:30 mastery stat then rotation
Yeah. Don't use your Clearcasting on Shred. Use it on trash instead. Dont be afraid to Ferocious Bite when your Savage Roar and Rip look good. The basics of this video still stand, don't spam and keep your basic buffs/debuffs up.
And to think, I had someone go full on nerd rage because I had agi gear on my feral, and I even got kicked from the raid because of it.
Can't wait for the Balance video. Saving the best spec for last eh?
please don't think this is a negative comment, why did he chose feline swiftness instead if wild charge?
what addons do you use? all pls
Not to mention that using Shred as your filler is still very viable and using mangle only serves as a cheesy gimmick to milk the most out of FB by being able to get off a few more frequent finishers.
Preach Gaming Preacher, don't you want to prioritize Thrash over Shred on clearcasting procs?
What calls the addon so you can see all your bleed? :) "Good video!" :D
"Tell Me When". Its fairly complex to set up the first time but once you figure out how to work it, it becomes a VERY powerful tool. Preacher has a video on how to set up and configure the addon somewhere on his channel.
the one for keeping track of dots and buffs is classtimer
Thanks! :)
u get 20% more damage on shred as long as you have a bleed and it costs 5 energy more than mangle. That being said, isnt the 5 energy worth using shred over mangle everytime???
so 20% more dmg for 5 energy
also.. shouldn't you use your clearcasting on thrash?? I hear it puts out the most damage output for it being free
shred can be use only from behind or incarnation activated
Arent you going to be behind the boss most of the time in raids???? As long as you have a bleed up it seems like you should prioritize shred over mangle.
Rogaming Ex also you are forgetting about tiger's furry
ChanabaraGaming 5 energy per cast over the course of say, an 8 minute fight adds up.
After jumping back on my feral i've discovered you are correct. So thank you my friend! And thanks for the great video!!
Which addons are you using?
check his UI video
I know you didn't have it on your Druid but you should have mentioned the Rune of Re-Origination trinket. It changes your stat priorities and rotation and is a BiS trinket for this patch even though it is from last tier.
Do you ever do PvP guides?
Mostly because nearly no 10 man guilds has a feral. Watch any stream with a good feral, he'll be tearing up the meters on the main target.
Yep indeed. Of course that's where common sense comes into play. Keeping rip up is still one of our highest priorities.
Whens the next PG Show?
Besides how they pretty much are the strongest single target dps at this moment ;)
druid seems to be the most relaxed class in the game
My kitteh feral druid Fuzzyboots has been ignored too long might play with him now.
Thank you Preach! I was using that energy to spam abillities instead of keeping savage roar up.
Btw i am inscribe master 600, if you are on Europe server i can make you the cat form glyph ;) unfortunately i can't make the stampeding roar tho :P
what interface u using
need an actual gameplay vid if possible on this one
No it isn't.. Shred is more DPE and it does more base damage AND more damage with bleeds up. Plus with the 2pc, Shred is even more worthwhile than mangle. THAT is plenty of reason not to mangle spam. Ebon Detonator is not even one of our BiS trinkets.. It's at most, an interim upgrade until you either get your hands on a RoRo or a talisman which are really the only options this tier.
Very very good guide, very detailed thank you
Wild Charge
Renewal
Incarnation
Mighty Bash
Heart of The Wild
I can't thank you enough, man.
When the boss hard-enrages and it's more preferable to have your rogues soak, it is..
Which spec?
Yeah. A feral shouldn't take it on hc anyways because tanks have so much vengeance. I just explained his reasoning for mentioning NV. I actually thought about using NV for Malkorok HC, but decided against it. It's pretty terrible dps/utility wise.
You replace shred with rake as your cp builder since you're wasting potential up-time with rip during a RoRo proc.
tell me when
Frag from Method just beat 600k sustained singletarget dps on Iron Juggernaut :) Ferals are crazy at the moment.
Rogue soon? ;(
This serie should be called: I make you want to play: ......
Not enough GOOD Ferals nowadays, very underrated spec.
Ui tutorial preach??
Fantastic vid, as allways!
