    Best footage and narration out there on technique and intent, not just glamour surfing. Thanks

      I agree with the instructions and some well needed advice in challenging conditions, yet some very nice surfing. I love how he milks the small ones and goes for the big ones. Great wave reading and surfing.

      I felt like I was down winding in Perth Western Australia with these challenges!

    Unbelievable skill and technique to handle that cross swell like a Boss. Making such tricky conditions look easy in the V12. Superb, Jasper. Coaching points are epic too and how well you filmed. Proper advanced gold. I think all who have attempted or want to learn these skills appreciate this hugely! Thanks!

    Very good vid. These are definitely some advanced skills, with lots of layers of complexity to deal with, but you explain it really well. Thank you!

    This covered a lot of the technical aspects of downwinding that I’ve been working on! Such a great video down to the beach landing explanation. Thanks Jasper!!

    Great vid on everything: Lessons, techniques, beautiful surfing & scenery. Grand Finality of coming into the breach.

    I have sat on the back of a double ski with Dawid Mocke, and was amazed what he caught and the sprint power he turned on well before I would spool up power for a wave. Its great to see what Dawid & Jasper Mocke does to catch more complicated swells and runs!

    Nice work Jasper.
    That gives me something to focus on when paddling in rebounding conditions in Sydney

    Best instructional video I've ever seen. Thank you! (Swells that big through a GoPro lens are even bigger in the real world!) Only 500 views for it in a month proves just how underrated down wind paddling is. (Not that I'm complaining -what used to be an obscure sport now has surfers all over the world thinking nothing of taking a number in the lineup to get a ride!)

    Wow, excellent video. A bit more than I would usually take on but very good info to have because you never know. Random question - what is the purpose of the two tennis balls connected by the orange line in front of your feet? Cheers!

    • @paddleafrica
      @paddleafrica  Рік тому +2

      Hi Jake! No purpose for this paddle! I use them for resistance (strength) training (by wrapping it around the boat with the tennis balls underneath) on flatter days and just keep them on the surfski.

    BTW, I saw the tennis balls in your ski. Why weren’t you using them haha. 😅

    Thanks Jasper, just bought my first ski and really looking forward to getting some downwind experience on it! Been consistently strong offshore here just north of Sydney.
    Agree with the use of small runners not going in the main swell and wave directions, I use them all the time in my sea kayak to help keep speed up.
    Saving my pennies to get onto one of your courses now!

      Hey Ron, I use them for resistance training on the flatter days to build strength. I leave them on my ski otherwise I'll forget them (although sometimes I wish I did!)
