10 GHz Rain-Scatter QSO VE3KH - VE3WCC, 2024 June VHF Contest

  • Against all odds, I succeeded in completing this Rain-Scatter contact between VE3KH and our West Carleton Amateur Radio Club station VE3WCC during the 2024 ARRL June VHF Contest. This time, we were in FN15vj, at the Kinburn Community Centre. Following a phone call from Kevin VE3KH, I quickly set up the dish on the backyard septic field (!), with little hope that this 370 km link would work, considering the dense tree line about 500 feet in front of me. All I could hope for is that the V-shape opening in the treeline would align with his location (I was so in rush between two rain showers that forgot to take pictures). As you can hear, we had a good copy. Radio waves are often unpredictable!

    Very cool, only active up to 23cm for the time being, but looking to at least get a transvertor for 13cm this summer !!
