VotDK is my favorite new board game in the last several years. I was amazed at how well it plays, how versatile and re-playable it is, and how much game they crammed into the box. Glad it's getting some good press.
I agree with your assessments for the game. It's great fun and definitely underrated. I'm glad you did a review of it. In regards to the FAQ, the BGG forums, and now Hexplore It has their own forums, and the designers are super active in answering questions. It would be nice to get those compiled at some point.
That was an excelent review guys, the game is amazing, may be not the best art i seen for new games but i love the system, the gameplay ,the map , there is a lot to learn from the rules and to read but it worth it, it gives more depth to the game, and the way you can write upon is just nice plus :)
Just received VotDK, the component quality e.g. the box, cardboard for board pieces and inserts is high. The cards are average quality. I was pleasantly surprised
i think this game Needs more art. i find it not dripping with theme. there is no art except the ones you showed. everything else is just pure text. the game is ok.
Books don't have art, yet are thematic if the story is engaging. With the possibility of many different quests and cicumstances and abilities, every game is different. Art doesn't make theme, story development does in my opinion.
Totally! Way more art, and a better looking UI. Nothing about the design of the game looks like fantasy. It all looks very...cheap, for lack of a better word. Like one of those games you'd pick up in the store that doesn't show any of the components on the box. Looks are super important to thematic games, and nothing about this game has grabbed my attention.

Well, seeing how you like Warhammer, and I don't, obviously we have different tastes in what we think of how theme can be portrayed.
