I've seen just about every Vice documentary on coca but this one was the most complete I've seen so far. Every step of the process shown in detail from leaf to brick. The interviews with the cooks and indigenous leaders were so insightful. My heart goes out to these farmers and the communities trying to keep the Narcos out but something tells me things are only going to get worse. Especially when there only line of defence are bows and arrows.

Dealers in Lima often sell 3 different qualities, more cut for the poorer consumer and less for the wealthier. Typically best you'll find without an amazing contact is around 85% there. And a 20 dollar bag gets you between 3 to 4 gs of the top (gold star lol), it's not weighed out there just a stuffed small ziploc so exact quantity is whatever fits and how nice dude feels that day

As someone who, more or less, is a gun rights advocate, arming these indigenous groups defending their ancestral lands seems like the correct choice. The asymmetry of force between criminal groups and the common people is a huge factor wherever these groups tend to flourish. If the government can't or (more likely) won't do the job, the citizenry must be empowered to do it themselves. The other factor at play has been the bane of South America for years: corruption. Also, something to consider. Peruvian coke is sought after by artists, politicians and other known people because it produces a different high than colombian cocaine. People taking peruvian cocaine report the high to be more like an euphoric feel that calms them and makes them think deeper, boosts their creativity. By comparison, colombian coke gives more energy alongside the euphoric feel, and makes you want to be more active hence why it's the most popular for parties and events. I don't take it but i know a few people who experienced many types.

One stands out as having both the highest yield and is missing one of the main impurities that cause the heavy 'fight or flight' sensation (Transcinnamoylcocaine? can't remember which one). Peru grows a large amount of this variety (Bolivia supposedly grows mainly this variety) - both countries produce better quality paste and cocaine than Colombia.
