As a Celtic fan (lifelong)..I celebrated the sign & trade this past summer. I argued with my Dallas cousins and uncles about Grant. I told them he's a Goofy oversized kid who cant shoot, cant create his own shot, no low post game, cant dribble, no mid range game and his defense has declined every year he's been in the league. I was done with him 2yrs ago when the Celtics beat Denver and the next game he did a interview fully dressed as Batman (for stopping the Joker)..However, Denver won the Chip at the end of that season. He acts like a tough guy on the court "I'm a make Bofe"..then like a little kid off it. He'll be playing in China in 2 years.
Facts. He will always be “imma make em bowff” guy.
Dislike him too but he’ll be in the nba another 10 years. Never a starter in a winning situation unless it’s a super team and he’s the worst starter by default

This is the first time I've seen one of your videos. I found it very well done, informative and entertaining and it persuaded me to subscribe.
The sneakers thing seems pretestuous. Unless he's paid to wear some specific shoes, he can wear any sneakers he likes, so long as thay don't impact his performance. I've always found Nike sneakers too stiff and uncomfortable, and I wouldn't start wearing them just because a famous teammate of mine has a signature model. Grant probably tried Luka's sneakers for a while for the sake of blending into the team, and they just didn't feel right. Now, his performance was below par and below expectations, with or without Luka's sneakers, and that's a good enough reason to trade him, but let's not make up bitchy, classless, nonsensical reasons to reinforce the argument. It's a sport: performance is all that matters.
They just trying to trash him esp as PJ regresses, and Grant's playing great in Charlotte... I feel badly for PJ being stuck in that toxic locker room! Glad Grant's out of it, though!

@@jr10spro Honestly, PJ is not a big deal to me. I was ok with it because I'd rather have him than Grant. Gafford was the prize, I'm not hung up on how many different ways to put the ball in the hoop, I'm more concerned about keeping the ball out

I'd be willing to bet Luka preferred the dual acquistion of Gafford and Williams over the single acquisition of Kuzma. I believe the Mavericks will benefit more from the two players they got.than they would from getting Kuzma alone.

Pj is bigger, faster, a better shooter and can create his own shot. This is a HUGE dub for the mavs. Teams basically have to guard him 1v1 when luka and Kyrie are on the court

Dallas (Kyrie) fan here…I literally said before this trade, before w/e trade talks, that we didn’t need Grant Williams and we need to trade him for some big men. Great trade, as a Mav (Kyrie) fan we got exactly what we need, got rid of what we didn’t need, this was great.

I completely disagree with what you said about rookies on the team. Rookie contracts are by far the most valuable. Because you can have a very good player for cheap, and then the restricted agency. The key word here is productive. It is just a matter of scouting. We need to be able to find older players in the back of the draft who will be able to immidiately produce.
Not a Mavericks fan but the new line up is post season ready. I don't see why they can't go all the way
Gafford should probably come off the bench most of the time this year simply cause he didn't go through training camp with those guys. He for sure has more experience than Lively and probably is a way more dependent choice, but then again D Live has been playing like he's been around for a couple of years, simply cause they put him under that starter pressure and surrounded him with great players that help him grow and build a good chemistry. The more mistakes he makes now, the more he learns and so far he's been doing 11/10 for a rookie. They're always gonna try to foul him out, so the more he's exposed to that strategy the sooner he'll learn. When he gets into foul trouble, Gafford should step in, which will put the opposing team in a difficult position to reconsider. Construct the team rotation where the opposing team is choosing between a nightmare and a bigger one, like they did to offense with Luka and Kyrie. Nico did an amazing job with this move, at least on paper.
If Kyrie or Luka want you gone, might as well pack your bags an say stepsister goodbyes. And reports are that Luka is extremely pleased and happy with the Gafford trade.

Trading Grant Williams was bad he was a top contributor on the team and had his teams back.

Im a celtic fan. Grants a decent defender, and was a good 3pt shooter till he went to Dallas. If hes not knocking down 3s at a decent clip hes unplayable though. Dallas got longer, more athletic n added some size n athleticism to they squad
I think we finally have the right pieces in place. Now it’s up to Luka and Kyrie to show that they have what it takes to beat the Denvers and Celtics of the world. If they can’t then that’s just how it is. Sometimes people are just better no matter how badly you want to win. But with this roster, there’s no excuse.
Man I believe luka with average roster can beat anybody just because of how he manipulates the game but hey to be honest look at the talent level of Celtics, Denver and clippers plus each of those squads best players have been playing for more than 5 years and the center position you’re relying on a rookie!
Kuzma would have been a gem!
Grant is strong on defense, former 2019 SEC player of the year, and was possibly the most effective scorer and defender coming off the bench, traded away from the Celtics. His problems are mostly work ethics and character. In college, he worked himself into a muscular frame like Bane, but slowly, as the years progressed as a pro, he became visibly chubby. Secondly, he became too comfortable on the bench as a Celtic instead of competing with his peers Brogdon, Smart and White. Thirdly, his recent shift in character to trying to be an enforcer like Draymond on the court is not believable or appreciated by his peers and fans. He needs to get serious with his cardio and lock in to playing good basketball without the gimmicks.
Mavs fans really welcomed grant and wanted this to work. He’s now at home in Charlotte with less pressure and still gettin paid. Besides, I could see a contender wanting him later. Glad we got PJ.

If PJ can get his 3 percentage to 38-39% then we eatin. He’ll get more open shots here, so it’s definitely possible. Also why are people saying he’s going to play center? That’s completely out of left field.
He has a good stroke, if kyrie and luka get him open looks he will make more. The reason his 3 average is low is because he takes a lot of bad 3s, not because he can't shoot.

As a celtic, I though grant started acting like Draymond Greene: Getting on the refs, Talking too much on court, Taking on other players on court. Ocassionally he will be on a hot streak at 3 (Game 7 ECF vs Bucks). He has limited moves to the basket and can guard slower bigs but against fast players is a dud. The one that irked me was when he tried to talk tough to Butler only to be burned and still yapping at the sideline without contributing anything on court. Plus he wanted BIG Guy salary for his product on court, hence the celts sent his ass packing.
I much rather have Gafford than Kuzma

He's contributing more than Grant Williams so that's a plus. To me Denver or Boston are still the clear favorites this year. But why are the Hornets never really in contention? Is it ownership? They seem to draft decent players.
@@dk6173 I agree. Denver and Boston are in a different league. You know, the Hornets have had a couple things happen.
1) We just started drafting well. The Adam Morrison, Cody Zeller, MKG, Frank Kominski years were bad. Especially if you look who was drafted right after those players. Bradley Beal was the pick after Michael Kidd Gilcrest.
2) Jordan didn’t want to spend money. He grew tired of todays NBA. He said as much. He used to go to practice and get on guys and found them soft compared to his era. He checked out. It was an investment and he wanted to keep cost down. New ownership doesn’t feel that way. Our last few drafts, plus our big cap space, and multiple first rounders to deal should change things a good bit. If Melo stays healthy for once, him plus Brandon Miller, Miles Bridges, Mark Williams is a good starting unit. We’re going to have a top 5 pick again too to add to that. I think they will be a different team moving forward.
