Sounds like the old girl is in need of a good service and replace what you said, plugs points distributor leeds and lubricate all the linkages, give the old girl a birthday she will thank you for it ,😁👍
Take my hat off to you Joe, nothing seems to phase you to the point you want to give up! Amazing! You didn't make a coffee this week, I missed that!!!! 🙏.
Love it……your attempts to get the work done make me smile ….. so love the challenges you have and continue to overcome……great. Thank you take care both of you xx
Great vlog again Joe miss Danni helping though. It’s great watching you turn your hand to anything and it comes out great. Very clever. Have great week 😊
Treat yourself too a new throttle cable and an engine service kit, carb rebuild too man you won’t regret it when you’re on your trips. Keep going dude it’ll be a cool van.
Absolutely brilliant. I do know know how you know what to do. Amazing. And a great classic van too. Once you got her sorted she will be bullet proof. Best wishes
Hi Joe, I really enjoy watching your skilled work, you are very talented, and on top of your work you also produce such great videos, which are a pleasure to watch. Hello to Danni. Have a great week. Take care.
I would try a carburettor clean/service kit along with a engine service. And maybe a manual choke conversion if available for the carburettor. or maybe try to have it serviced by a air-cooled vw specialist
Got take my hat off to you for effort. Plugs, leads, cap, rotor arm, points and condenser if points are fitted. You’ve a few panels with patch’s fitted with rivets, if the MOT person sees them it’ll fail. Be careful before you go too far it doesn’t need welded as you’ll have to strip out what you’ve done already. Keep the vids coming though
Thanks, appreciate it! The van is exempt but we’ll be taking it before we leave for at-least a pre MOT to make sure it’s safe. Didn’t realise that about the rivets.
Having had a few VW's in my time, are you sure that T25 engine is really up to the trip you have planned, because it sure as heck does not sound too happy.?? xx
All part of the adventure! 😂 it was rebuilt only 20k miles or so ago but has been sat for a while so needs a good service & a carb setup and should be good to go
Well no need to open windows for ventilation, with all those rust holes! 😊 it would pay you to spray anti rust into the chassis frame, underneath floor pans etc, as well! Good luck with it, nothing like a challenge for character building, 😅 5:08
Was going to sort the bodywork out in the new year when we’ve got better weather as I’ve got nowhere indoors to sort it. Engine was re-built 20k miles or so ago but a few years so just needs a bit of a tune up hopefully. We’ve done 150 mile round trip without issue before parking it up so I’m not too worried to be honest
Nice one joe chip away chip away then one day you look and it all comes together i was shouting at mi iPad get a heat gun then you said I just got an heat gun🤣🤣mental is the water coming in by the window or is it the roof ,Cheers Joe Danni have a Top week 🙂🦆✌️
@@garylinker69yes, I never realised it was 40 year old🤔 still would be wise to address some of the last MOT advisories as you correctly point out safety related
The van’s exempt as pointed out but we’ll put it in for at-least a pre MOT if not a full one before we leave, it’s not being driven hardly at all until at-least March so we’re not putting it in until then - we couldn’t afford any repairs at the minute anyway. Previous advisories are wheel bearings all round and the footwell/step welding. Going to polybush the lot. Brakes were done recently and engine was actually re-built (a few years ago) 20k miles or so but has been parked up for a while so needs a good looking over. Bodywork’s waiting until the weather hopefully turns back in the new year as I’ve got nowhere inside to work on it.
@@ItsOhJoe Hope your lucks in with the pre MOT inspection, still cannot work out why you are waiting till the departure date for an inspection as if the van is dangerously rotten you will have wasted a lot of time and effort. Anyway, good luck and keep producing these good vlogs👍
Does your engine sound as bad in real life as it does on the vlog, I hope not. Good luck with your project as it looks like we are in for crap weather 😢
@@darrengoodale6854 it’s pretty sound in the flesh, some man made holes from screws and pipes etc. The main issue was the ply on the floor being saturated so causing a lot of surface rust so needed ripping out
Hey! According to Ed when he was fixing the Wheeler Dealers VW Thing, it was the throttle damper causing the stalling. I'm assuming the T25 and Thing have a similar engine.... m.ua-cam.com/video/wCA5JS_Vxvk/v-deo.html
I was hunting for a similar laminate faced chipboard but went out of fashion in the 80’s I think. Just really like to keep as much of the old as possible. Might play about adding some trim to the bottom for a bit more rigidity
You would have been better using Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80 , far better than the stuff you used for rust converting, and dries alot quicker and in lower temps

Seems to me you have your priorities wrong. I believe the engine should be #1 priority and cosmetics of van #2 priority. Seems like you have set your priorities in the reverse order. I do wish you good luck.

I cobvrted one of these vans about 25 years ago so your video is really bringing back memories. Kepup the good work!

Great content! I had one of these vans, sounded just the same so probably factory😀
😂😂 that’s reassuring
Sort the holes out in the bodywork and get the engine running right before you fit it out.
At least it cant sink.

Try changing the fuel filters Jo
Yes good shout, cheers
Nice work 👍🇬🇧👍⚽️🇬🇧👍

Mate! You need to replace cabinet. It will be too nice when your done to leave it. Maybe used in better shape.
I’ve been keeping my eye on used on eBay but can’t find anything similar and really don’t want to put new into this old van
Defo strip and clean the carb
Cheers!
Autochoke ..rip it out put in a manual one (take control )..😁pip pips
Has that van got an MOT? If the previous test history advisories are to believed it might be wise to get a test before spending any more money or time
Think the van is exempt.
The concerns should be with safety now.

By the looks of it think this going to a economic build
Think I'd ground that rust clean first and maybe some patching ?
I think the plan is just to get this up the hill to the Parthenon and then gently roll it off the cliff😂
Yeah as we said in the first video we’ve got no budget for this so doing what we can when we can. The rust in the footwell or rear floor?
