I guess this could be for in water over angels Thanatos, but that song is about James, being really angry so I’d say this could be for a ending where Laura, ends up dying so it’s like the best end ends up bad.
This place, silent hill, looks like home for me, this is my kinda of inner peace, despite the darkness and the monsters. When you think about it, our world has his own monsters / victims. Silent Hill have the merit to show you your true self in his own way. Thank you dearly for this version.

Promise is a song that i believe means to represent Mary’s wish for James to move on and live his life without her. Promise in its deep guitar phase through the 2nd phase is meant to represent the turmoil of James physche but overcoming it, realising that he moves on. The leave ending is canon to me as it represents James fulfilling his wife’s wish which is what James story has been leading up to.
The save screen of Maria and James’ face have always affected me, we see their true versions and true emotions of hate and sorrow, of not loving themselves. Despite Silent Hill creating Maria i think she suffered knowing she only existed to be a test for James, sadly in the end she gives in to her forced ”destiny” I belive she thought James was the only reason she had for living and therefore did everything to become Mary/James perfect version so she would have a ”purpose” It is a very sad detail that many Silent Hill lovers do not realise.
