Truly one of the funniest comedians ever. I don't say that lightly. I don't think anyone is funnier. Like Daz said, it's not easy to find great video of his stand up, but it's absolutely worth your time to find what you can. He was, of course, a world class stand up, but I think his real genius shines in interviews and talk shows. He was never not funny. Very quick witted and just a unique way with words made everything that came out of his mouth hilarious. I'm not sure if it's great material for reacting, but I highly recommend going down the rabbit hole of Norm Macdonald interviews and talk show appearances. Probably the single greatest late night talk show guest of all time.
And I'm supposed to take your word for it? What if I thought that bit was shit? Rending your judgment in comedy (like your taste) shit. Or....or it was great. Therefore supporting your judgment which leads to Norm is one of the best. I'll be the judge.

His world war jokes on Letterman’s last stand up is amazing too. You guys should definitely do more norm! Also, norm had stopped drinking once he was diagnosed with cancer, but was a known drinker and gambler before then.

If you boys are looking for Norm, his best work is as a talk show guest. Any time he’s on a talk show. Especially with Conan or Letterman

When he was a semi-regular on Howard Stern’s Sirius show I would pull into a parking lot to hear his entire segments. I was useless with laughter at some of his simple one-liners. I hope you can find some of those clips.
Norm is the master of deception. You can never tell if he is hiding behind his routine. He doesn't do personal info it just seems biographical. Then sometimes he does include some autobiographical info. He is an evasive brilliant comic. A comedians comedian

One thing you have to understand about Norm, a lot of what he says is just 100% set up for the joke. There are some really funny appearances he did on Conan where he talks about fake relatives (just because it's part of the joke), or about his wife (when he was divorced at that point), etc. So the whole "I don't drink" stuff might be real or maybe not. You never really knew. There were times he was probably dry and also doing things like Gamblers Anonymous (probably AA too), but then he'd be at an interview with another comic who would talk about Norm going to some high stakes illegal poker game in NYC for 3 days straight/etc. Guy was extremely impulsive, to his own detriment, but mined it for a lot of great material and bits (like what you see in this video).
I liked people's suggestions about Norm constantly shitting on OJ because he was so vicious about OJ when working on SNL/Weekend Update that an NBC Executive (friend of OJ's) told Norm to stop doing OJ jokes. Norm not only kept doing them, but did some of the most dark and over the line jokes up to that point, and NBC fired him because as that same executive said he wasn't funny. He did wind up guest hosting on SNL later on, where he joked (viciously) in his opening monologue that he was surprised to be back as a guest host because he was fired for being unfunny, but now that he was back, either that meant he had gotten a lot more funny in a short period of time or the show must really suck now.... Something like that. Just a huge shot fired at NBC.
Norm was great. His many appearances on Conan are great too because the two (and Andy) play off of each other perfectly. Norm would derail stuff, say totally outlandish things, tell jokes that went nowhere and just wasted everybody's time.... just really, really good if you're into that kind of thing (some people call it "anti-comedy/humor" or meta-comedy, but it's not entirely that). Part of what makes a lot of his more conventional TV appearances so funny is he tends to throw a monkey wrench in the otherwise stiff and formulaic "TV Interview Show" format like Late Night TV Shows. Not everybody gets his humor or that he normally did what he thought was funny, not necessarily what everybody would think is funny.
I hope you all continue to give his stuff a look. Some of it won't land with some people, but he was genuinely an insanely funny person (largely because of how he just didn't give a fuck, even to the detriment of his career). A good place to look (but maybe way too blue for a reaction) can be a lot of his appearances on the Dennis Miller show. There are a few about cigarettes/smoking and cocksucking/homosexuality that are wild and would never fly in today's world. I don't know how well they hold up, but it had Dennis Miller in stitches (and I think there is one where David Spade is there also and Norm is very funny... maybe the same appearance I'm thinking of).

I would say some easy to find and great Norm stuff would be any of his interviews on Conan and any compilations of his Weekend Update jokes from the SNL days. If you're looking more for stand up then his Letterman sets are killer.

It's also true with sober people, if you're a quiet person. I've always get told that I either make them nervous, or I seem angry or suspicious.. Nope. I'm just quiet. I generally have nothing to say unless spoken to.
He's the greatest panel guest on Late Night both Letterman and Conan. Their relationships are so funny. His best bits are on the Late Night shows. He's almost the Jimi Hendrix of comics.

I quit drinking for 5 years, and happily became the designated driver. When I started drinking again, I found it hard to find someone else willing to take the role. When I got married - it got worse. Hubs would never be the DD. I started to resent not being able to let loose. Now, my marriage and friendships survive because of Uber.

Norm and Sean Locke were so similar in their careers, true comedians comedians. Gave no shits. Almost enjoyed bombing sometimes. Wild wonderful men. Both even lost to cancer within weeks of each other 🙏 great ones.

Great videos by Norm are compilations of his shows and appearances (the I"m not norm channel) pretty much like when he lost his sponsors. Like 'when the guests love the joke' or 'who writes these jokes'. Also some appearances on Conan: 'married to a real battle axe' and the infamous moth joke. Have fun guys.

Norm did drink. He briefly quit alcohol for a few years when he was young but he continued later for the rest of his life. I don't know why he claimed that he didn't, he was a very odd man.
He smoked a lot of weed too apparently. Lots of comedians have stories of him ripping a joint or a bowl and then going up on stage and killing. Then he'd get off and talk about how stoned he was and they'd all be amazed lol

I'm all for taxis, but when you live in a country as sprawling as the US, they're often not an option. Especially in more rural areas. I wish there was, but there's not enough people to justify trying to run a taxi service. We had one dude who did the sober cab just for tips, he made good money doing it, until he started taking pulls of Vodka between fares and got a DUI as the sober cab guy lol.
Do Norm on Brokeback Mountain. You’ll probably have to put it at the end of something else because it’s only like a minute, but it’s proper hilarious. Oh and the frog joke. But that’s also pretty short.
Maybe, do the Moth Joke, which is sort of long and meandering, and then end with the frog joke and Brokeback Mountain. The last two won’t add much time, but they’re definitely worth it. I think so anyway.
