How lovely. I appreciate all the hard work and efforts in sharing this content, but I found it so hard to ignore the music. You have a sweet voice that would have sounded great even without any music 😊❤
I never paid much attention to dahlias until this year. I’ve fallen in love with them. I can’t fit much more into my garden but I know I need more dahlias in my life! ❤️❤️
Thanks for he tour! I agree the best way to know what you love is to grow them. Hula is my absolute favorite, followed closely by Bee Happy and Cherry Drop. Totally Tangerine is an honorable mention!!!
Today my garden told me to say Hello to Kate!! Can you believe how sassy it was?!? Seriously, this was aaamaze balls and my favorite of ALL TIME is Cornel Bronze so when you showed that one my heart skipped a beat! I agree with you 💯% that the ball shape rules, followed by the more intricate styles and I also lean into those sunset shades that I saw were drawing you in. Some of those ombre' ones were incredible. Thanks for 25 minutes of pure bliss!! 😘
Thank you, Kate! I am over the moon in love with Swan Island Dahlias! You did a beautiful tour! This is like going to Oz! I have to admit, I’ve been binge watching Claudia’s tours of this place from prior years.
Oh that is so exciting!!! Seeing those first blooms on the horizon is such an exciting time. I have some dahlias popping but so many more that are still all budded up!
You have convinced me not to give up on Dahlias - I had ground squirrels dig up some I bought at Costco. But I think it will be worth trying again! These are so gorgeous!
Another stunning Oregon Nursery! Wish we had beautiful dahlia nursery to visit. I grown dahlia from seed but never the tubers until this year. They have buds on them so far YAY. I purchased Cafe au Lait 🤞🏻 Thank you for introducing us to this amazing nursery 🧡
Love SI! I went last year, but you’re making me want to go again. I grow Sylvia/Maarn and it’s a great tuber producer. Happy to gift you one or trade. I, not far from you in Bothell. Loved this video!
I am going there on Wednesday evening. It is a special “after hours” event with Hardy Plant Society of Oregon. You ladies certainly had a good time! BTW ~ Screen Door is one of my favs too! 😊
You are going to have SO much fun!!! We were just texting that we need another West Coast Garden Girl trip on the books. And If I lived in PDX, Screen Door would be a staple. It was delicious!
It is so much more time consuming than I ever thought. One of my first videos was the strawberry planting video and it took something like 10 hours to edit. 😵💫 UA-cam is definitely a labor of love.
Stunning!! Thank you for the tour!! My son is moving to Seattle, so I'm going to check how far Swan Island is. I hear a lot of people say how difficult it is to work with Dinner plate Dahlias in arrangements. It's actually so simple if you use the 'Hook' or 'Hooking' method. I learned this from flower designer Georgette on her UA-cam channel 'Common Farm Flowers' She is a hoot and so knowledgeable. Kate! You must check her out. Out of Somerset UK. 😊
Ok. This is such a cool recommendation! I haven’t heard of hooking before but am totally going to check her out because I love having vases full of dahlias, but do struggle with the dinner plates. Thank you so much!
You are so fun, Kate! 'Funky Chicken' lol🤣 I love all your little sayings. Always makes me giggle. I wish we could have seen the name of some of the dark purples and other saturated colored Dahlias in the display garden. I'm just not a fan of the buff/pale apricot colors. Im sorry. I know a lot of UA-camrs are. Thank you for the tour!❤❤❤❤
No need to be sorry. We all have different tastes and aesthetics! That is what I love so much about gardening… it gets to be personal. And the more personal, the more it shines! 💐 I’m thinking of a second trip when it isn’t 90+ degrees and the camera is overheating. It would be so fun to go dahlia by dahlia.
Thank you so much! Isn’t Swan Island incredible?!? It was so cool to see some of these varieties in real life because I feel like you can never fully tell what they’re going to do from just the picture.
I ❤ dahlias and enjoyed the tour. Unfortunately, the music spoiled this video for me because of my hearing deficits. Please reconsider using such loud 🎶 as it competes with your enthusiastic commentary, which is really what I want to hear.
I agree about the music. I found it too loud and distracting from the beautiful dahlias and Kates observations as she toured us around with her. I wonder if it was to drown out background voices or noises or something….
Well ladies… you win some you lose some. 😆 You are correct that I was picking up some airplane noise and the video felt like it dragged without any music added in. I thought it might be fun to play with a more modern, jazzy, low-fi situation! At least the dahlias were gorgeous. 😍
@@HelloGarden the dahlias were gorgeous Kate. Sorry if my comment came over negative, I love your videos . For context, the music was just very loud and it felt like it was the main attraction of the video rather than a supporting role to both the dahlias and to your unique take on each flower 🌺. I just wished I could have isolated and turned the music down a few notches as it made it very difficult to isolate my brain from the music to be able to fully listen and enjoy what you were saying much of the time unfortunately. I am very sensitive to noise though so maybe it is just me with overwhelmingly sensitive ears 😂
Heather and Stephanie, you are both so sweet. Honestly, because it’s you two and you are always supporting me by commenting here, I really do consider your feedback! I know it’s given with such kindness from someone who is here regularly. So thank you!!!
I've never been to Swan Island Dahlias but for sure I'm going now. Kate...can we see your beautiful face? I do not like seeing those massive "black"sun glasses. Sorry...Recently you've worn those sunglasses in the last 5 videos.
Awww… you miss my face?!? This is the best constructive criticism I’ve ever received. 🥰 I actually have super sensitive eyes so it’s hard for me to be in the garden/outside without eye protection. I’ll shoot for the next one without sunnies!
@@HelloGarden I say wear sunnies whenever you want, your eyes are more precious than anybody wanting to see your lovely face. Anyway, we can still see your pretty self, so carry on being you! 🇨🇦😎🇨🇦
So so lovely I enjoyed thank you so very much for sharing those lovely flowers ❤
Thanks for coming along!

Noted! It definitely turned out way louder than expected. Thanks for watching anyway!
Love the tour and especially the easy listening light jazz music you have playing in the background!!!!!
Ha! Thanks! Just always over here playing with new things.
I never paid much attention to dahlias until this year. I’ve fallen in love with them. I can’t fit much more into my garden but I know I need more dahlias in my life! ❤️❤️
Sometimes all you need is a few of the “just right” ones for you. 💕

Kate! Thank you thank you! Because of you, I am going to try dahlias next year! I will order some of these beauties. Thank you!
Wonderful! There’s nothing like them.
Wow so pretty added this to place to go to next summer while visiting Oregon
You should!
So much fun going on this nursery tour. The flowers are beautiful.
Well thanks for coming along! And agreed… they were all so incredible and I can’t wait to add to my patch next year!

I was gobsmacked! In a few weeks that place is going to be like wandering through a forest of dahlias!
Thank you for taking us along! A fantastic tour!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! 💕
Incredible!
I was blown away!
We live 20 mins away and never miss their dahlia fest! I’m so excited you visited! 🌸
You are so lucky!!! It was absolutely incredible to see all those acres of dahlias.
Great tour. I started some of there Dahlias this year and they are almost ready to bloom! So excited! Thanks for taking us!

Beautiful place I’d love to see! Thanks Kate for sharing.
I’m so happy I get to spread these amazing places all across the internet! Thanks for coming with me. 💞
What a beautiful place! I could watch your videos of dahlias all day long! 😁
You are so sweet. Honestly, this video could’ve been 10 hours if I went dahlia by dahlia… they were all so good!
Cant beleive you guys are so close to me, i live in Vancouver Wa. Hope you had a fun girls weekend.
The ‘Couv! It was so fun. Definitely need to book another one.

About 3.5 hours… not bad!

I’m so pleased you liked the tour!
I've always used SI dahlias.
They’re so good!
The buff color on the test varieties are from where the sun has bleached them, it’s not what any breeder would want to happen.
Oh interesting! I thought it was age related as that will happen sometimes. I kinda loved it. 😍
