    Thanks for the great review. Is it possible to connect a stream deck device to change scenes and plans? Because searching and scrolling through them all at the bottom of a small screen is not very effective.

    Excellent video. Thanks for the honest advice. We are launching a live stream side hustle and this is exactly what I was hoping for. I’m going to reach out on your website. Thank you!

    I have a quick question for you. Can the USB-C port be used to connect to a computer as a webcam, so that the talent program feed acts like a webcam on the connected computer. Thanks.

    I’ve been using the Magewell Director Mini for a while, and this is the underlying hardware. But the Talent has software tweaks specifically to work the best with Obsbot devices. Sounds like a perfect partnership.

    • @RobertHamm
      @RobertHamm  5 місяців тому

      I agree, and it seems that's exactly what they did. The additional tweaks to the software to work directly with their hardware make this an excellent choice especially if you're in the OBSBOT ecosystem. Plus, you save 200 bucks! It's good all the way around.

    I have an art studio and I’m looking for something that will capture me while I’m working. I will not want to be “live” streaming all of the time as I would want to make edits before publication on UA-cam and Facebook ect… Would this be a great buy for me? I do not want to spend my money on a $200-500 system that I’m not going to like and have to upgrade. You know what I mean? I also want to know if this has the capability to film from up above me as well as horizontally at the same time and be able to edit what I want my viewers to see at any given time during that one video? Thank you for the very informative video. I look forward to your answers 😊

    Nice, but.. what is the difference between this and the Magewell Director Mini?

    • @RobertHamm
      @RobertHamm  5 місяців тому +2

      Well, I'd say there are a lot of differences. Firmware optomizations and direct hardware integration with OBSBOT products would be the most noticable differences. PEople often don't think about OEM and White Lable products as much more than clones, but that's not how premium devices like Talent go about it. Don't forget the $200 less price difference between the two. If they were exactly the same, you would still save $200 bucks AND get all of the OBSBOT features for less.

      No, not organically that I can tell. It may work with Speedify Bonding Service because the parent hardware, Magwell Director Mini, works with Speedify.

    Thanks for going through all this.
    Unfortunately for me . I have 3 TailAirs and The Talent and all are successfuly connected to NDI BUT I am so far not able to record THREE ISO files simultaneosly from the Talent. I dont want to use it to Stream or as Switcher . The main reason I got it was just so I could record my musical performances with a 3 camera angle shoot and then edit them on something like CUT CAM . When I saw it did portrait mode I ran out and got but after about 4 days of troubleshooting im starting to doubt my decision. ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

      I think it's awesome that you're a musician. I really love hearing about that side of people's creativity. Feel free to leave a link to some of your work in this thread or send it to me. I'd love to see whatever you do.
      I know exactly what you're talking about. You connect three cameras, but you can't get three independent files from Talent. That's the problem.
      The solution is pretty easy, and you already know it. It is to simply record on each of your tail air cameras. You will then receive three independent files for editing and whatever external editor you want.
      You may then think to yourself, " what's the point of talent? "
      Well, talent is extremely powerful. It can completely produce a live show, but it doesn't have to produce a live show. You can also record the in-camera switching from each of your three angles based on audio follows video or based on a predetermined camera switching mode.
      Not only that, but you can connect your microphones directly to talent through an external audio interface or field recorder, you can then set your levels the way you want them, and have that recording perfectly synced up to your video recorded on talent.
      I have found that doing this saves quite a bit of time in post-production editing. If you want to switch out a particular angle at some point, it's easy to synchronize the pre-edited video from Talent with the external videos recorded in each of the tail air cameras.
      Also, you've got a high quality audio recording built into it because of using an audio interface or audio field recorder to record your performance in the first place. This means that if you wanted to synchronize a separate edit then the one captured on the in camera video from Talent, you could simply use the audio recording captured on the audio interface.
      For example if you were recording on your audio interface at 32-bit float, which I would suggest in this situation, and your audio interface was outputting to talent at 24-bit, then the in-camera recording from Talent would have the 24-bit audio. If that was great and no additional editing was needed, then you have nothing to worry about. But if you did need to add your previous 32-bit recording back in because something clipped or wasn't loud enough, you could very easily do that.
      What I'm saying here is that talent as a production manager is extremely powerful. It does not matter if you use it to live stream or not. The limitation when recording ISO files from NDI cameras is a tough nut to crack, I would agree, but you can simply record in camera on those devices while recording internally on talent. I have found talents video recordings and audio to be excellent quality.
      Once you have the talent edit, it's almost already done because of the in-camera switching and audio options. The only thing you may want to do is trim it or replace footage from your external audio recorder or external cameras to change an angle or sound. That makes it much easier than working from three or four independent files.
      I often use talent in this way when recording wedding videos or working with bands. I will record in camera to all of my cameras, but record and in camera edit on Talent. It really speeds up my workflow to use the in camera at it from talent as the main edit. Of course I do this if I'm delivering in 1080. If someone wants 4K, I will likely work from the 4K footage of the internal cameras.
      we didn't even talk about green screening or the other effects or any of the overlays or watermark or branding or titles or any of that stuff which add quite a bit of functionality to talent.
      I'd say dig in and give it another shot. I love talent for all the reasons I've described here and many more. Good luck.

      @@RobertHamm Really appreciate your thoughtful and detailed response Mr Hamm! 🙂. Lot to chew ...Im feeling cautiously optimistic. The main thing im going for is simplicity and being able to set everything up and break it down for new angles etc easy so I can focus on the music performance. Likewise i need to be able to execute it all solo. I built my studiio inside a fabulous 250 year. old barn we restored and then did some beauteous landscape stuff all around including a large hand crafted stone stage area...yadda yadda...point is ..i ran ethernet cables not only around the barn but also outside > I got ndi and the tailairs going and was thinking Id just hit record on the Talent every time I moved cameras and wahla!...but then. thisI ISO thing happened. So ...your solution was mentioned yes , including by OBSBOT who just got back to me but you gave it a lot more comprehensive treatment ..as much as i could immediately understand it made sense. I also own an ATEM Mini Pro that i was gonna unload and today started to think about trying it all with that if you've any thoughts on dooin it that way instead ? If I stick with. your ideas my understanding of what you are saying is as folllows: I record to each micro SD card on each of the 3 TailAirs ( i actually have 4 Tails and 4 ndi licences because I didnt realize the Talent can only manage 3 ) . It sounded like you were saying I can then use the Talant too to record and have The Talent file be a sort of 'master' cut ? And that I could set predetermined 'cut' commands on this 'master' ? Hmm ok , Ill look into that more. Than the audio is a whole seperate dealio , I wanted to pull everything into something like CapCut and a mix of pristine prerecorded stuff i made that I can sing and play along with and also mix in LIVE outdoor audio and begin playing with dramatic audio efx like switching from of listeening from outside and then igoing inside and then hearing the full treatment or doing all that in reverse etc. Anyhow you have already given this a lot of attention and i appreciate it. Where are you located? Do you ever do ZOOM consults?... for $ of course.

    Thanks for the great information. I'm in a group that has in-person presentations and AV projectors demonstrating software. The room lights are low so the screen is bright and clear. The presenter is not in good lighting. How well would the Talent plus 2 or 3 Tail Air cameras work to record/stream in low-light environments?

    • @RobertHamm
      @RobertHamm  5 місяців тому

      TAIL Air works great in low light. It does not have an optical zoom, and is relatively wide. It's small size makes it easy to put close to your presenter/speakers. You could have one Tail Air with a wide shot and several angles programmed into it, and another Tail Air getting a closer shot by placing it closer to whatever you want to show. Switching between cameras and positions is easy. Use it in 4k. I do not recommend using the 1080p setting.
      Talent will connect over NDI to the tail air cameras. I would suggest purchasing the power over ethernet connection for each of your Tail Air cameras and connecting over a wired NDI connection to any cameras you want to use over NDI. Wireless NDI can sometimes be less reliable based on the robustness of the wireless signal. So just skip any of the headache you could encounter, and use a wired connection.
      Additional cameras can be plugged in to talent using the onboard HDMI connections and USB ports. You could plug in a computer for slideshows that was broadcasting onto the screen as well as a separate scene for talent. In this way you would be able to switch between presenter, the presenter on stage with whatever you want in the background, and a direct split for whatever was being broadcast on the projector. You would just need to route that signal out of projector to talent either by USB or HDMI.
      It's a pretty simple setup that would work very well for you.

    Thanks ! Question about audio sources / mixing. When you mix USB audio in from a USB Mic or camera can you listen/stream/record simultaneously from this USB Audio and the jack input or does the USB audio replace the jack input source like on the Yoloboxes ?
    Also, can you do PiP and can you set transparency on the PiP layer ?

    • @RobertHamm
      @RobertHamm  5 місяців тому

      Yes, and yes. The headphone out seemst to town all the time OR Talent supports multiple audio outputs. I haven't had any problems with it, but I'll test it some more and add it to my audio video that I'm making about Talent.
      PiP works exactly you think. Think about how you create a scene in OBS software. It's the same thing. You can have multiple inputs and use them separately AND you can use those same inputs as multiple sources on one scene, and then switch between them all.
      I've got to make a video about that too. There's so much about Talent, that this first video was really an introduction. There's a lot to talk about with Talent.

    • @al8xandros
      @al8xandros 5 місяців тому

      @@RobertHamm Thanks, I was referring to the inputs : being able to mix audio Jack input (I guess there is one in addition to the headphone out) and source from USB. The sound card of the Yolobox is supporting mixing hdmi audio sources but not between hdmi/Jack analog ins and USB, if you connect anything USB you have to choose between audio coming from the USB or analog sources. I wonder if the OBSbot inherits of the same issue (which I guess has to do with the inability of the Android base to aggregate audio devices.
      That’s cool for PiP, I hope the positioning is easy (touch dragging and resizing would be perfect). How about the transparency setting ? Is it there for PiP layers ?
