When you turn off the fire hold the bag on the bottom while it cools. You will get a larger percentage of the wax and most of the wax will come out of the cloth and cocoons. The leftovers in the bag were fluffy and dry. It’s ok for the rod to stick up while it cools but the second time I did it I used a rock to hold it under the wax.
After I recorded this I thought that next time I might just weight the bag and keep it under the water the entire time. I do agree, in retrospect, that it would provide more complete extraction (and less work) than what I did. Thanks for your suggestion.
I have looked at different ways and means, and I think I will look closer at a solar extractor, they take 0% energy and the ones I have seen worked very well, and I like, set it and forget it, systems. lol Great work buddy, and add that to your garden, there is a lot of goodness left in your slum gum, or compost it first, and let the biology digest it for you. :))
I am definitely planning to build a solar extractor... sometime... but that's not high on the priorities right now. In the meantime I had this comb molding in the garage, so had to do something. So I share my trials and errors with the world. 😁

Thanks for sharing your wax adventure. I haven’t had much luck with melting wax down.
What did you use for water? I'm told rain water is best as opposed to tap water. Thanks for posting.
