For years the horn hook coupler was called the NMRA coupler because it was designed to be the universal coupler. Every company had their own style of coupler in the old days regardless of scale. Some of them work better than others but did not look prototypical at all. I myself prefer dummy coupler because I don't bother with switching I just fire up my trains and watch them run.
Well that's partly true. As a veteran to this hobby . I can explain that The NMRA standard was the coupler shank hole size . Not the horn hook itself. For example an athearn has a nmra standard coupler box and so does kadee so the horn hook couplers that would fit that size of pin is referred to as an nmra but a tyco or life like talgo style horn hook style coupler would not be referred to as a nmra standard. So it's the coupler mounting shank that is nmra standard so that let's us know that an nmra standard horn hook will fit all nmra standard coupler boxes such as athearn or roundhouse etc but tyco coupler will not fitters box . A kadee is nmra standard as well. So if you have a piece of rolling stock that has an nmra coupler box then all nmra standard shank horn hook couplers or kadee or McHenry or ezmate will fit . A tyco or life like coupler pin is to small so it won't mount into an athearn box. So hence a lifr like or tyco truck mounted horn hook is not an nmra coupler. It's the coupler pin not the coupler itself that the nmra is referring to.
Frankly I am surprised at any of the specialty sets that are more for collecting than for operating that why bother even having an operating locomotive inside when the thing is more meant for display than anything else.
That was a great Sunday Night Movie!
Thanks. 🙂
I see you did the ABC Sunday Night Movie bumper for your opener, I told you a few month's ago it would be a great one! Nice set..
You were right. 🙂

Great intro.
No one cry over the wrap. I've had old sets wrap deteriorate so bad it starts staining the cars.🚂🇨🇦🇺🇲🙋👍
I have seen that a couple times also. My understanding is it's cause by some kind of chemical reaction.
According to Wikipedia, that set of Honda models was only offered in 2000 and 2001.
Wikipedia lies.
Pretty cool.
Look at the box 30-year warranty of course I remember when bachman & Williams trains had a lifetime warranty on their product. Not anymore though.
Fun fact, model power used the molds from Marx Ho.
@cllassicamericanflyertrains2423 Ironic isn't it? Lionel got even.
At some point I need to track one of these down for myself, It's pretty uncommon to find any sort of memorabilia relating to my car especially
I got mine off of eBay. Train shows would be another good option to try.
Promo train set available to dealers for reaching a parts or accessory purchases.
Model Power is Lionel 'HO' now.
Very true
@@firefly0282 Thank You for your comment.
They Look more like Hornhook than knuckle Coupler.
They are. For some reason I had knuckle couplers on the brain. Lol
All Good.
It called horn hucks not nuckel couplers
Don't you mean horn HOOKS and KNUCKLE couplers?
@@VintageRoadRail yes
@VintageRoadRail Make those Model Railroader collectors snobs cringe! Open them all up!

@@VintageRoadRail Ditto!
