Pro Tip: If you're near a Micro Center, they have 9800x3D's in stock. They'll post it as SOLD OUT on website, since they want to deter re-sellers and scalpers. They have plenty of inventory in the back. You'll just have to ask, and it's only 1 per person/address/household.
That's a smart way to handle demand. I believe eventually they will have 98x3d in packages/combos like they have for the 78x3d. Which is another way they can remedy those kind of situations as well.
just a pro tip for those looking to get it on Amazon but didn't like the expected delivery date. I ordered my November 8th and the projected delivery date I got was jan 18th-20th. I waited till yesterday (should have done it sooner) to message amazon customer support about it. I wanted to see if that was an actual expected time or a place holder. The rep told me that he could put an expedite on the order and send it to the logistics team. Cool I thought, the guy said it should be sometime in December which was better than mid jan. But today when taking my mom to the eye doctor I got an email that said the cpu had shipped and that it will be here TOMORROW. literally 1 day shipping. Idk what they are doing and why I had to do that to get them to send it faster but if you were looking on amazon give that a shot. If I had to guess they are trying to stop the bots from sniping them would be my guess and to actually get it you have to reach out to them pretty much confirming you're not a bot.
It's interesting to see someone with a similar experience. I ordered one on launch day but had an expired card on file, and by the time I updated it, it was sold out. I was put in a sort of limbo where they stated they had received my order but wasn't given a shipping date. I contacted customer service to confirm my order had actually gotten thru, and they let me know I was placed in que to receive it at the end of Dec. Less than a week later, I received notice that it was shipped, and I'd be getting it the next day.
Hey I appreciate the sub! Are you looking to upgrade as well? If so got your part list rdy? Or u going wait as well for the12 or 16 core X3D and RDNA4?
Even though standars Zen5 had bad marketing, anyone that understands and follows tech that expected some amazing gaming performance basically expected magic. Since the imception of X3D we all know thats he gaming chip, and no follow up standard displaces it there. They are just good for everything else, where they aren:t held back by the stock TDP. Even the 65w TDP is a by-product of reviewers and some customers complaining about 7000 being so high, and hitting 95C.
Yup. That was my general understanding as well. Marketing needs work from AMD. They need to use the approach they took with the 98x3d & 78x3d that made them sell so well.
I got the 9800x3d in the first minute on Amazon... only to find out all the motherboards that don't lane share with any of nvme slots have basically been sold out for weeks, and sell out in 1 minute every time they get restocked. Imagine having the impossible to get item and not being able to use it yet... 😅
CONGRATS! Lot of ppl aren't as fortunate to have one near them. I already got my own upgrade part list that is just missing a 9900x3d/9950x3d so I'm in the waiting lobby lol
Speaking of which I wonder how 9900X3D and especially 9950X3D gonna stack up against this CPU, I already bought 9600X but for 1080p gaming so I got a good upgrade path whenever I decided to upgrade to 1440p in the next 2-3 years 🤔
I am hoping the rumors are true that the cache will be on both CCDs. cause if it is, both 12/16 x3ds going be monsters like the 98x3d. Praying that AMD uses the same I/O configuration like the 98x3d. Now if they can give some of that secret sauce to their radeon division....
I want to like the 9800x3d. however the marketing sucks. Plenty of stock on Ebay for 700 or if you're lucky to be by a Microcenter. High demand so it's a scam.😂
Just wait until you already have it (lucked out and got it in the first minute on amazon)... only to find out all the motherboards that don't lane share the gpu with many of your nvme's are totally sold out too (or ludicrously overpriced). I mean, why go through all the trouble of getting a great gaming cpu, only to find out that your limted to 1 or 2 of your nvme's. If you use the others now your gpu is cut down to 8 of 16 pcie lanes. I've been refreshing Amazon and Newegg for 2 weeks now. Nearly hourly...
@@jonathanryan9946 I have the 9800X3D paired with a MSI MPG X670E Carbon WIFI motherboard. It has two Gen 5 NVME slots in front of the 1st PCIE slot. They are both directly connected to the CPU. This motherboard is in stock at B&H Photo. Good luck!
@@Chiefgeargrinder I ordered one from Amazon and cancelled it after I got one from Newegg restock. I have it on the auto notify email and was luckily on my phone email and it popped up. With the phone you can do super fast checkout with Apple Pay so I was able to secure one. Cancelled the Amazon order after I got a tracking number from Newegg. I missed about 4-5 auto-notify restocks before finally getting one. Overall though was only 2-3 days of trying.

so well explained, this is the only video I would want to hear, even though it says scalpers, truth is, demand is so high companies cannot keep up

Im still on a 5950x and a 3090, think the next upgrades will be expensive as will need a good few components!
My girl's build has the 5950x still going strong it's got so many years still to go, very good chip, no need to upgrade it yet.
Aint nothing wrong with this! Once it plays your games. Im on 5950x and 6900XT.
Still here rocking the old zen2 3900x which has been showing its age and struggling😅

with the older generation the single chiplet worked better for gaming 7800X3D than the 900 and 950 versions
the 3d cache only works for 1 chiplet

Oof gotta hate scalpers that price gouge. If you in market for 98x3d hopefully stock n pricing stabilize top of 2025. Be patient!
