It has been a long time since you stopped for a rest. You are a knight off on a wonderful journey, but your time on the road has taken its toll. You have many injuries on top of pure exhaustion. There was a rumor in the town you stopped in.
You asked about it at a tavern. It was the last tavern for a long while, since you had to go through a stretch of mountains that was nearly uninhabitable. Nearly.
There was a witch close to the top of the mountain, it was said. Whether she was there by choice, banished there, or trapped was up for debate, but the tavern keeper was sure. She was there.
It was your best bet to get some much-needed help.
So you set off.
