Just rewatched this just now. One of my favorite films and absolutely one of my favorite Stephen King adaptations for sure. That scene with Katie and him in the room gets me every damn time as well.
@@sinistercinemareviews5420 It shows the true grief he was feeling throughout the film. Also, I did look up about that pain and it does break up a family because of how tragic a child's death can be.
From a non horror fan this is pretty solid movie. I saw it on TV one time and I was just glued to the screen. I wish more horror was as well done as this.
Top 10 all time horror films IMO. Along with Shining. Hereditary is number 1 all time IMO. Would love to see a vid from you guys of all time best horror films if havent done. Cheers.
its a pain in the arse to find the right edition of this, there's the regular dvd, then the 2 disc collectors edition, then the directors cut, and the same on blu-ray and the only difference is a freaking green slip case of a view through a keyhole thats not on all bluray copies- so buying this film turned into a nightmare
it took a long email chat with their customer service to get this 'solved' and I'm quite stubborn so i kinda refused to give up and said that all i wanted was the theatrical ending edition, no bells no whistles- no bullshit. they said my item would be with me within 24 hours as id had 4 returns by this point. 24 hours later i get a delivery and they'd sent me both the theatrical AND the directors cut (free of charge which i already owned)- probably to get me to leave them the hell alone. but when i moved in with my bf his collection also had that god damn directors cut copy- so i now live in a house with THREE copies of that crap ending- at times i wonder if im stuck in that room!
The part where he says "never take candy from a stranger" makes me lose it every single time. Also, since it's haunted house week at KF, might I suggest Session 9? I know it's not technically a house, but it's so damn good for a slow burner, ambiguous, ghost story.
Wow I've been watching my blu ray forever and I've never known that that was not the theatrical ending but a director's cut ending. Thanks Jason for that I'm going to look for the DVD now. Great review thumbs up.
great movie for sure Jason, horror movies are great because there is endless rewatchabiliy , not the case for schinder list, godfather, any scorcese movie, even kubrick, ridley scott, etc what do you think of Dream catcher BTW?
I honestly believe most people are too harsh on this movie. It's by no mean a classic, but it's a nice slice of goodness I wouldn't mind poppin' at any time. It's pretty tense, quite emotional at times too, with plenty of great ideas. Not to mention that, for a Rated-T movie (if I'm not mistaken?) , it's quite disturbing! And not in a cheap way! Oh and, that's coming from an horror afficionado who doesn't even like paranormal movies. So you can bet if a praise one, it's definitely a good thing.
Really? Most people around me and on the various French websites I looked at said the movie was average at best... or mediocre even. Then again, there is always a huge gap between French and US critics... If one side loves the movie, the other will often hate it. Don't know if it's a cultural thing or not.
...Depends on the movie! They tend to think most blockbusters are overrated (which I totally agree on), but sometimes they also spit venom at smaller scale movies like 1408 and I just can't understand why.
Awesome review, I watched this film for the first time the other week and loved it. The scene that fucked me up was the window ledge scene. Getting out on the ledge and all the windows was gone is pretty fucked up.
It’s gotten to the point where once I finish a horror movie, I immediately look up to see if you’ve reviewed it and you never disappoint.
❤️

A neat little trick I’ve done is put the theatrical version dvd disc inside the blu ray so you’ll have both in one!
The scene where he sees his daughter again and she dies in his arms broke my heart. That is real grief when he starts crying.
1000%

Hell yeah man, good eye. I never realized that was Benny The Jet.
I agree with you about religions and the supernatural, I’m that way too.

This film is a blast and infinitely rewatchable...fuck, I'm gonna watch this and Dr Sleep as a double bill now:)
Phenomenal review!!!

aleflippy1997 weird, I’ve never heard a bad word against it

aleflippy1997 I like whatever as long as it entertains me
I've love Cell : /
123visuals I’m guessing you are talking about the J-Lo one
This is a great movie. Loved your thoughts on it. Cusack is generally great in most stuff he does though.
Tony Shaloub was good in Gattaca too... he was in it for like 5 minutes. Hehehe
And the possession of Michael Cain which you recommended
Todd’s Nightmare king*

Bearded Slasher that’s a great scene for sure
Man I liked Cell visually but ya Jennifer Lopez’s character was crap I remember
Todd’s Nightmare no! I love that film haha. This is a different film I meant starring Cusack and Jackson.
Love this movie! Thanks!
Dr. Strangelove it’s so great man
Classic bro!

Cell the one with Vincent D’Onofrio? Yeah that movie was pretty terrible lol. I love Vincent but that movie sucks!
No dammit! I love that film! This is a different Cell based on a king novel
