This made me feel something I haven't felt since I first walked into Whiterun in Skyrim all those years ago. Amazing build. I would love an interior walkthrough! You've more than earned my like and hopefully many, many more.
Wow great stuff, really cool looking castle. I think an interior video would be great. I like making interiors for my builds so it's always cool to see other peoples style for inspiration
Amazing build, some serious skill! for a moment on my recommended page I thought you were building a something to do with a town south of me - Kilmarnock, Scotland.
This is amazing mate! Massively inspired by this for my series! This is how I see my world ending up with the different noble houses I have set out. I’ve subbed mate. Can’t wait to watch your stuff!
Super cool build, and really enjoyed the voiceover going over the thinking behind your decisions. One thing I noticed, since you're going for realism... that wall section to the left of the gatehouse (in front of the officers' quarters) would be a pretty major tactical weakness. The wall is fairly low, and in an area that has poor visibility.
I, too, was noticing that if this was a real castle, they'd ensure the forest was further away and not up close. Usually, chopping down the nearest trees as sources of wood for building or burning. And you wouldn't want any local trees thick enough to be used as a battering ram, either. The ground leading up to the castle would be much more steep, so it would be difficult to scale it by ladder or siege tower, or the walls would just be built that much higher. Of course, the area wouldn't look as beautiful either unless the local flat land was used as stone walled crop fields and animal enclosures, creating a patchwork quilt of various colors. Absolutely magnificent fantasy castle!!
Yes!! Yes!! Yes!! (picture the bit in the movie TRON) Please do a walk-through video on the interior! Your castle is freaking awesome! (But in Minecraft my horse obsession would require bigger stables. 😆)
Heeey B! Ofc i've seen pic's in discord, and also 'live' from the server in Porpy's streams/vod's, but seeing you in action on this with your unike way of building again is awesome - l o v e it! And yeah, just get on with the walkthrough, ok 😉
this is MAJESTIC. how do you even design something like this? I started to build a couple months ago (medieval builds aswell) but this is on a whole another level. Could you give me some advice please? I'm really amazed. Awesome work
@@1lauta thank you so so much! I've spent a lot of time watching other builders and then also looking at tons and tons of reference images to get to this point. My biggest piece of advice is start off with something smaller first. Like a small fort or maybe a small walled outpost which has similar vibes to a walled castle build. And once you have confidence in that build build something slightly bigger. And then keep growing from there! Also don't be afraid to build poorly. Bad builds can help teach you what you don't like and how to improve next time!
Absolutely gorgeous build (would love an interior walkthrough), and also props on making it really sound from a defensive standpoint as well (which is hard to do in Minecraft). My only design critiques would be that a few of the rocky sections feel like they would have been flattened down a bit to maintain the wall height, and that it would benefit from a full moat (even just a dry moat). Genuinely fantastic work, and can't wait to see more! Edit: How did you make those trees in the bailey? Are they fully custom, or are they using Better Trees? If fully custom, I presume they were built elsewhere and then copied in?
@@The_Industry definitely appreciate the critiques definitely things to consider! Also yes the trees are custom built. I have a bunch in a flat world that I've turned into schematics.
@@BenDStraws Neat. Also, I've noticed you don't use any world edit. For all the specific block palettes, gradients and detailing it makes sense, but what's the thought process behind not using it for any large-scale terraforming?
Awesome build would love to see a walkthrough! Also curious with you mentioning Create if your resource pack for create is back available for forge/fabric?
This is the 1.19.2 version of fabric and I've got create going on there. Also just a note I guess the world is now in 1.20 for fabric and create is working there too.
I did consider speeding up the time lapse even more but I was afraid it'd be too quick to actually see anything. I have another large build I want to do in the future so I'll try shortening things for that one lol

Once I'm back from my vacation I'm going to get started on that!
The trees look good but I image in a seige you'd probably have to commit signifigant amounts of water and man power to deal with the fires.
