Congratulations to Ryo Watanabi on finishing so high. A great achievement, especially at such a young age. Great things ahead for you. Congrats to all the people who submitted an aquascape this year. If you did not place, do not give up! If you did place in the top 100, well-earned. Keep striving to improve, but don't forget to have fun. Keep up the great work, everyone.
I just finished watching his set up video! #59 out of 2,617! That's nuts! Super proud for him! It was a beautiful tank and I'm really glad he finally gets to show it off!
We have re-uploaded the IAPLC2021 result announcement video because there was an error in the livestreaming contents. Mr. André Longarço’s Best Aquarium was mentioned as the 14th place work in the original video, but it should have been the 13th place work. Please note that it was only the video production error, and there is no change in the total scores for the works nor the rankings.

Yoyo prayogi is very humble and down to earth. If you know his shop and house, you will be surprised. He lived in the side of the road (non permanent shop and wooden house). He does not like publicity and always sleeps in his small workshop shelter behind his shop. He even prepared this work for one year (doing it during the night (less sleep) as he needs to guard his fish shop during the day (for supporting his family)). His passion is amazing. He is famous because he was highlighted by one of Indonesian actors who wanted to have aquascape in his mega tank.
congratulations Mr Manes from the Philippines, your work is truly amazing and I still enjoy the paludarium you made for me, the longer you look, the more mesmerize you become
Indonesia & Vietnam have some of The most *panoramic-looking* aquascapes in the whole world! Spain is also a rising star, as well. The rest? Malaysia, China & Japan have rather predictable styles that are spin-offs from old concepts as seen in early 2000's IAPLC entries. Especially Malaysia; spamming their much beloved Malaysian driftwood, lol! The real kings of woodwork, however are Indonesians. Who are traditionally skilled carpenters, as well as ridiculously creative with their designs. Truly, Indonesians are "Italians Of The East" in terms of design. You just can't beat them as far as "wood-scapes" are concerned. It's in their blood.
I wish Iwagumi style tanks would make a comeback in aquascaping contests. Takashi Amano's original, minimalist tanks are still the most beautiful I've ever seen. Today, aquascapers create tanks with so much flair and drama it's impossible to see a tank that's simple and serene rank highly in these contests.
@@eddiegyt5978 They did not finish in the Top 10 of rankings. Iwagumi is not considered "inventive." It's sad because Takashi Amano's Iwagumi tanks are about the evolution and refinement of classical aesthetics. Both approaches should be valued in judging IAPL contests.
I am not convinced about the Grand Prize (#1 ranked) winner. It seems the artist simply plopped a tree stump with roots in the middle of the aquascape and worked around it. It is beautiful (no argument there), but a lot less technical skill and artistic talent required than in other entries where the aquascapers created the different elements out of many pieces of wood or stone. It would be good to know for certain if it is in fact one piece or it was created out of several. I think many of the entries were much more complex. Nevertheless, the layout is great and something mere mortals, as myself, could never do!
yeah.. you better know him first. This guy is very humble, and he is true artist (he even does not like to be highlighted). He lives in small wooden house and sleeps in small workshop. He did it for one year, changing several ideas of aquarium and he has to do it during the night as he has to support his family. Just search 'yoyo prayogi' in youtube and you can see one documentary about his house.
