23 Mayıs 2024... Üsküdar'dan Beşiktaş'a motorla geçerken dinledim... Tarihi camileri, denizin dalgalarını ve rüzgarı hissederek dinlemek inanılmazdı.

This is a painting by the Uyghur painter Ghazi Emet called Muqam (1984). It depicts musicians and instruments from all over Central Asia thus pointing to their common and shared heritage. I believe it is currently in a museum in Moscow although I’m not entirely sure of that.

İçimde bir bezm-i aşk zuhur olur iken
Yâr garam yüreğimde harika-i sevda iken kor olur sinem
    Ey müteyyim deyyus-u ekber
Rah-ı aşk bilmeyen nece anlasin ahvalimi laklaklariyla sevdamı hor görüler
    Ey şeydâ dalda bülbüldür bağdat
Ey bağdat tasabi ettim nice vakit
Ne elimde kaldı ne dilimde tat
Misk kokar gül yatağında dilrubam sanki bir arap at

      Ezan okunuyor makam-ı sabadan
      Tüm alemde seni arıyorum
      Yol alsam diyorum Üsküdar'dan
      Suret-i cemil zevcim' seni düşünüyorum

Very good performance. Congratulations. But this Maqam is not Buzurk and not 100% sure, it may not belong to Dimitrie.

Indeed this is not Büzürk as it is known today, however it is included in Kantemir's collection under this title and he seems to declare it to be his own composition

Indeed that’s not Buzurk. The real buzurk ends on Rast and not Dugah. It might be an old form of Buzurk or a miscommunication of that time. The piece is beautiful though …and beautifully played

Kantemir it is not always entirely clear about what is his composition and what he has notated from other sources. The classification of this piece as Büzürk makam is indeed strange given that it is quite different to what we know today to be Büzürk makam. However, given that Kantemir titles it thus and that his score is the source of my rendition, I felt obliged to go along with his description. Perhaps it is a form of this makam which has not survived up until today.
