- Edwin Diaz's ineffectiveness continues to cost the Mets wins, as he blew a four-run lead in the ninth inning which led to the eventual Mets loss in the 10th inning. Both men pointed to Diaz's lack of "confidence" but manager Carlos Mendoza insists Diaz is just going through a rough patch and in all likelihood will remain closer.

That was heart felt from Diaz
You’re gonna get through this Edwin! You’re great! Thank you so much for your time at the signing - it seemed overwhelming to be there just after a game, even to me, and I’m thinking maybe you’ve got a lot going on. We love you Edwin!! ❤ I believe in you!
💙🧡 EDWIN - YOU WILL FIGURE IT OUT !!!! DON'T STRESS !!!!!
We believe in you, Edwin- don't listen to the jaded hearts, some are cruel for the sake of cruelty, others are cold but well-meaning, but they're all wrong. So many fans have your back and KNOW you will get through this- just be kind to yourself and hold onto hope. You're amazing, and even the greatest have their lowest days. Just keep on fighting. We love you!!! ❤
Ottavino or Garrett have to take his spot over, at least for a while. That loss was ridiculous. Also need Drew Smith and Raley back in a hurry, but the latter isn't looking good.
“The pressure never lets up. Don’t matter what you did yesterday. That’s history. It’s tomorrow that counts. So you worry all the time. It never ends. Lord, baseball is a worrying thing.” - Stan Coveleski
It's easy for us fans to forget about just how much these athletes give to the game. I know the money is crazy these days, but wouldn't you want to be as great as you could be if you could help it?
Stll one of my favorite Mets despite his recent struggles. I'm confident he will turn it around. Just hope sooner rather than later. And the season is far from over. That last wild card spot is up for grabs as long as we stay around .500 and get back on track which I think we will soon then we'll be fine. It can't get much worse than this. We'll find a way to win tomorrow. I believe. LFGM
I am probably one of the most upbeat Mets fans. But going into this series I said they needed a sweep after the pathetic showing against the Phillies. Now they are five games under .500 by blowing a four run lead in the ninth to the floundering Marlins. Each loss they have it seems that it cannot get worse until the next loss. This one put a fork in the season. Time to sell.
Fear not, the sweep is coming. 😡
HE WILL FIGURE IT OUT..
Relax Edwin, it’s normal. Everyone experience stress and lack of confidence. I’m sure the team will give you the tools and resources to overcome this. You’re the best closer in the game. Let’s go Mets!
I feel for Edwin. Over the last 5-6 years he has had two of the best seasons ever for a closer in the game. He will be back, ya gotta believe !
I knew he was not going to be the same after the injury and being out for a full season. Thanks, World Classic.
Jesus, he didn't have a complete SPRING TRAINING!! HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN LEFT BEHIND TO FINISH IT. He shoild should develope a splitterb and change up and set aside the slider.
Mendoza will put him in tomorrow what a tool .Cohen and sterns deserve all the success this team will bring 😅
Baseball is a tough game and almost all players want to succeed. Players unless they're shady don't play bad and purpose. If a player isn't healthy though and it's inhibiting their performance they need to own up to it let someone else possibly step up.
It's not just his confidence....his stuff looks very hittable, and his pitches have no movement at all. He hit 99mph on one of his fastballs, but he has no command, and throwing it all over the place. You gotta put him in lower stress situations until he figures it out.
Up 4 run is very low stress
@@taytaylor3458I agree up 4 runs vs the marlins is the lowest stress u can find
@@taytaylor3458 not for this team
Bingo... His speed is there, but command is THE issue.
Anyone in the stands want to close for the Mets? This isn't the place for Diaz to practice. Send him down.
Much is being made of Diaz's poor outings. It remains to be seen if he is the pitcher of 2 years ago. Is it his arm or related to the bizarre world tournament injury? Certainly by now his confidence is shot but its way too early to give up on him if it's not a physical issue. This situation might be manageable if the starting staff weren't so lousy, their lineup didnt leave so many runners on base and they had a major league catcher. By the way what is going on with Kodai Senga? Can we get some clarity or how about THE TRUTH!
It happens to all teams
Unbelievable.
who's closing the next game..???
NY media and fans will pick him apart for his softness
Can Mr Met close ?
Mr Met wouldn't play for this team.
Edwin going through it, like in 2019. I have grown to really like him and have confidence in him. He will find it! This year is lost, but we need Diaz going forward. He'll be there.
@Michael-sb7pc Yes, he will. He's too good to be pitching this bad. We'll be fine
🤡 I feel so sad for the guy who literally gets paid 126k a day to play baseball smh
Not a josh hader again...
Trade him to the Yankees for Soto and judge and see if you could make judge fit in orange and blue because he looks like Mr. Met
And now we have to find a closer SMH...Hey Steve how's that 5 year plan looking ?
As a 60 year Mets fan I think it’s time to get rid of the whole team. The way they are playing they will be in the cellar before you know it
in 7 years.... Only 1 good year on the Mets, 3 lousy years 2 bad years 1 year hurt... NEXT! Time for him and Zero-vino to exit front stage. Before the bullpen the Mets were plagued by brain injured front office.
Así perderán la temporada en junio a más tardar
He’s rusty, hasn’t pitched in a year can’t expect him to come back as strong as he was
You wanna help the team win STAY HOME
What an absolute CLOWN SHOW.
we need to cut his contract 🤬😡😤
remember when Mets fans said this guy was better than Mo? LMFAOO
Get rid of him…
Send him to the Yankees. He will heal in the Bronx.
why was he even in there with a 4 run lead ? Terrible managerial move, especially when your pitcher is slumping.
That's what happens when you give alot of money to a overrated pitcher.
Pro baseball is dead
The party is OVER! The brooms are coming out from EVERY team they are about to face. 🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🪠
