Just came across your channel. I lived in OC in 1986-90. Biggest flounder I ever caught was right in the channel just east of the 50 bridge. All the head boats would clean their catch and dump the fish scraps off the pier. When I was there the whole area between the commercial harbor and the 50 bridge was beach and marsh. There was a area called shanty town. Now it’s been all developed into nice homes and a big marina.
Just a cool fact I was on one of the crews that built the new boardwalk oh about 3 years ago or something like that! It was one job I’ll always remember it was a lot of fun doing it
I've seen you fishing on the bay and the south jetty. Currently I'm using a 12 foot Pro Angler kayak with stern mount trolling motor. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
I saw you mention this video in the comments in another video of yours. This is a great summery of spots to fish. Getting psyched up and looking forward to getting down there again this summer.
Thank you for the information. I have been trying to zero in on the spots that I hear so much about but the charts for the back bay are hard to come by. I plan to put your rigs to good use in the next few weeks.
Great video Scott. Very informative. I'll be there the week of July 4th this year and will be renting a pontoon boat for our group to fish for flounder. I'll have to splurge and buy a new rod for flouder fishing.
Hello Scott My name is Paul Smith. My middle name is Scott. I just subscribed to your channel. I'm 71 years old and have lived here since the mid 80's. Love your videos. Question... Where are some spots I can cast a net for mullet and minnows without getting in a boat? I used to use minnow tapes but want try your suggestion of casting for them.
Thanks for putting out this video. Neither my Jon boat or my pontoon are seaworthy vessels, so its nice to know the best spots in the back bays. What is the best time of year to catch trout and drum around OC?
I live near the outlets on the west Channel. I have a pier here and never have any luck. Ill see people drifting out by hoopers and catching stuff. When is the best time to fish for flounder and what tides?. Must be doing something wrong
I'm going to be putting in at public landing boat launch which is South of the verizona bridge is there any good fishing down there I know it's pretty shallow but I'll be hitting that midsummer in July Any fishing tips
please help I'm in this area for a week of bank fishing for stripers first week of October. can you give me a couple spots for my best chances please. fished assateague surf past few times here but now nothing. thanks anyone.

Our Deadly Tackle rods are perfect for our bays!
@@FishinOC where's the closest store to the 50 bridge
All Tackle then Sunset Provisions around the corner on sunset avenue
@FishinOC I should have just bought one from you at the great american outdoors shield in Harrisburg. Lol

Some of the boat ramps and marsh edges can hold some bait sometimes. Gotta find them.
Great information. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Scott
👍🏻
Thanks for doing this video, very helpful
Great Job Scott. Its Steve Iwaszko from church...
Thanks Scott.
I grew up fishing the thorofare, route 50 bridge, and all the others. I laughed my a$s off when you said DONT EVER ANCHOR IN THE EAST CHANNEL 😂
Thanks for putting out this video. Neither my Jon boat or my pontoon are seaworthy vessels, so its nice to know the best spots in the back bays. What is the best time of year to catch trout and drum around OC?
Probably September / October OC inlet.
Thought you might like this.

As long as the water is clean and moving you have a chance to catch flounder April through November.
I'm going to be putting in at public landing boat launch which is South of the verizona bridge is there any good fishing down there I know it's pretty shallow but I'll be hitting that midsummer in July Any fishing tips
You’re right it is pretty shallow down there, but there can be some pretty good fishing at the bridge and in the channel.
Good tell !
BITD, I caught some of the biggest crabs in my life off the beach at Seacrets - kidding.
Any spots you would stay away from in a kayak? 12' Old town PDL. Current can be a killer if you don't know where and when to go.
Inlet and east span of the 50 bridge can get ripping on the tide. Might avoid those if you don’t know it well. Good luck!
@@FishinOC hoping to come down for a day trip in the fall
Thanks for the info. What make and size of boat do you use?
25' Carolina Skiff
Thankyou.
Saw a guy hook a 3 foot stingray north of route 90 bridge near Devil’s Island, is that common?
Not uncommon
Where would you fish for sharks?
Not in the bay. Probably Assateague surf or out in the ocean.
How rare is it to catch a seahorse here?
Some are caught but pretty rare.
please help I'm in this area for a week of bank fishing for stripers first week of October. can you give me a couple spots for my best chances please. fished assateague surf past few times here but now nothing. thanks anyone.
Best spots this time of year are jetty and route 50 bridge. Good luck!
Well thanks. Spent all high tide out today 9th pier and 1 dogfish. Along with a million bait stealers. Thanks for the help.
