Sports media gets paid off of talking about the players. The players don't need the sports media to play the game
Albert Belle hated being called Joey and finally decided to complain, that's why his name on baseball cards went from Joey to Albert, he didn't change his name. Albert Belle is the modern equivalent of Ty Cobb
Belle did put up some damn GOOD numbers for a short period of time. 12 years in baseball is a very short career. if Ralph Kiner can get in with his numbers, Belle should be able to get in with his. regardless of the time, era...someone please tell me. why are women reporters/Hanna Storm, allowed in men's clubhouses anyway??? I am sure this was the reason Belle was upset.
Belle was still very good and not old when he developed arthritis in his hips. He was hurting and running was too difficult for him anymore, he still could hit, he batted in 103 runs that last season. His teammates said he was trying his best but they could see that he was struggling. He was a great hitter for a few years, in his prime I thought he was the most awesome hitter the Cleveland Indians I'd ever seen play for the team. He had issues, he has been reported that he was Bipolar. Perhaps that is so, he was certainly a very intense player. Example: They didn't think he could run, then it went out and stole 23 bases. They thought he was a bad fielder, he worked on that, and proved he could a good job in leftfield. I never read that anybody thought he couldn't throw, he had a good arm. I did read that his former college coachs were amazed at his success, then never thought he would be a top player. But Albert had drive, it was his intensity that propelled him. That can make the difference for an individual becoming an average player, above average player, or a great player.

Go Tribe!
It's Runs Batted In, not Runners Batted In. You don't have to say runners every time. You can just say he drove in "runs."
This video has the most insanr advertising schedule I've ever seen. Had to have skipped 11 ads in this short ass video. Dude u need to calm down
Hof no doubt
He was a great, great player. Not such a great person.
Legend
Are Ted Williams hated the media George Hendrick hated the media
Mr. Keeler; Even Eddie Murray h8d the media yet still made the HOF.
JO-EY!!!!
Females are to be seen not heard especially about sports 💯
Just goes to show that writers shouldn't be allowed to vote for shit. There should be some type of point system to select MVP's in all sports. Writers like the smell of their own shit. I once heard Stephen A Smith say that without the sports media the players wouldn't be nothing, no Stephen A Snitch, without the players the sports media would be nothing.
Corked bat expert
I know nothing about baseball. But this man seems like a real American hero to me.😅😅😅
Then you're a loser
Belle defo belongs in HOF.
Re his attitude towards the media, WTF cares about them? He never sought to win a popularity contest.
As for the collision against Fernando Viña, heck that's just good baseball.
Belle in the Hall, NOW!
Players with poor attitudes toward media just make me like them more
Corked bats. No.
@@weevie833 Studies have shown a corked bat does not enhance performance. Google it, though it's probably not on page one, which repeats the conventional wisdom.
No one hall of fame with those numbers ok? Dick Allen another example, not 2000 hits or 400 HR, means no HOF, so it's not the media or voters like you say. HOF is for long playing career only, unless your a pitcher sometimes
Wrong... Ralph Kiner..
Nope, your wrong, a good player but got put in the HOF for being a legendary broadcaster mainly.
He also lost time serving in the military when he could be playing baseball--taken under consideration even if you say it wasn't from the broadcasting.
I agree being a broadcaster in NY also helped him get in the HOF, a rare exception you have found, but I think he has an excuse, find me another if you really think I'm wrong.
And Ralph Kiner was a great broadcaster in NY, which helped his chances getting in the HOF, as well as having to go into the military and losing years of playing time, the only exception to this rule-- but he has a damn good excuse. I heard Kinder an absolutely magnificent broadcaster--maybe the best ever.
Trout sucks compared to Albert Belle in my opinion
Say what you will about Trout, however he's never had to use steroids nor use corked bats to pad his stats... Albert did!
