The Dunes are awesome to Snipe, and since that's what i can do best, i always prefer the dunes. You also have a huge overview of the north-eastern field but also pretty nice cover in the south-west part for flanking and sneak attacks. It's just an awesome battlefield :) But imo the whole map is awesome, best map in the game. Also i would love to see more bigger maps but done like the desert maps, where you got places for sniping and places for close combat so people can choose their way to engage the battle and use the advantages of their tank. I dislike the pure close combat or pure sniping maps, because then some tanks or even nations will always have an advantage/disadvantage.
there are a few reasons phly... 1. for some players that don't excel in CQB or good at traversing on open ground, they would provide with long rang support or watch over their spawn 2. you can get the whole view of the middle map so you can keep tabs on them about their movements 3. some opposition players do tend to snipe because of their capabilities, so some of your team would try to flank em or at least eliminate their capabilities to do so 4. if it were 3 caps, then the dunes would be great to serve as a flanking maneuver or an ambush point. that's what i think from my experience ingame, i hope this will gives you more tactics on this map.
I go for the dunes because I like engagements at range and the dunes are perfect for popping up and shooting then retreating back into the valleys, if you want to call em that, while you reload. Plus, it's great to catch people off guard. As for bigger maps, in tanks I think current maps are find, maybe a 1-2 km extension overall in the tank borders but air maps need to be enlarged in order to counter the new airspawns.

The "Dune" gameplay is very good for tanks with good gun depression and high mobility. Rushing to good dunes, and using the gun depression is a very good strategy.
It's fun to look back at this and see how chill this game was before modern light vehicles were added, 6.7 was actually 6.7 not basically 7.3-8.0. Now vehicles like the marder A1 exist and bmp's at 6.7-7.0 and they delete any heavy tanks they see.
The canvas cover with the big headlight make it look like one of the Ivans is sticking his head and shoulders out of the tank destroyer in the front. I can't unsee it.
Dunes are life, Phly. You can get nice long range engagements and, provided you have a quick vehicle you can reach the enemy spawn quite fast. Hurr durr spawncamping, I know, I know. It definitely helps with the grind though.
It's not really finder... those things are IR reflectors - and you could fit IR optics over your standard optics - either in pasive mode as light intensifier - or in active mode with the reflectors...

Honestly, I think bigger maps would be awesome, but only if they doubled the amount of players on those large maps, and maybe worked on some long-range shooting mechanics or something
I think they should add larger tank maps to the game, but there should be an option to not be put into the larger maps, just like there's an option to disable joining matches that are already in progress.
I would be ok with large maps if they had a large sniper field and a medium large town. With one cap point in the field and one in town. So the gameplay would need to be varied, with sniper tanks and close quarters tanks.
Gaijin's ground reward system is cancer , I've been grinding the Chieftain for a month now, only half way and I usually get 4-5 kills in my premium A.43
hey phly, when you use this, use it as an ambush tank, for tiggers, first aim for the drivers head then aim for the left, I have 316 deaths to 401 frags, represent!
I'm not a fan of bigger maps. Especially when I'm playing RB with heavier or slower tanks. I find by the time I get to the combat area (which can take up to 4 minutes of nonstop driving) I'm just really impatient and make dumb mistakes. Bigger maps also don't really matter because no one fights long range. They cluster up in small areas and fight anyways. It's pretty much just longer redeploy
Top tier tanks need more room to play around in. Kurst is an ideal size map for 8.0, too bad it is rare for 8.0. I would support larger maps that promote manuvering.
I go to the dunes because they are fucking cool. When was the last time I played a video game where I got to mess around in giant sand dunes? Plus visibility is great at all ranges, so it's easy to spot enemies. I think it's the most unique part of any tank map.

Another thing is for tanks like the Churchill or black prince and heavier tanks. It lakes me forever to reach the cap on desert maps in my T25 and M26 because i only go 8-10kmph in the sand!

I agree with the deviation, ASU-85 has strong recoil, kinda shifts the shot a bit.
Take out the mouse and the giant - ASU-57 and the Tu-4

My favourite map is Advance to the Rhine, it is small enough to get to the action quick, and I just feel good when playing on it.

You know whats bad about this tank? Part of its armour isn't modelled correct, which takes away one of it's frontal weak spots.

The guns on the T-34 and ASU-85 are very different. You forgot to take muzzle velocity into consideration... 792m/s vs. 1090...
Phly you need to take out the SU-100Y. 2.35kg of tnt nuke round. The 107 Zis-6 is a baby next to this gun.
