Love watching this back just for Leon’s movement. Best striker in the Welterweight division bar none. I used to train out of UTC in Erdington, where Leon and Fabian fought out of, so I have followed Leon’s progress through the rankings. Is man is a different beast but if Leon can keep it on the feet as long as possible and utilise his TDD when required, he has the ability to win a decision. In fact people criticise him for his safety first fighting because he has a lot of decisions, but there are multiple examples where he was ground and pounding his opponent into submission but the bell went before the ref called it off

@@cavinmurray8601 his technique is awful, look at his lead leg and his hips. Not trying to throw shade on the guy, he has a very good fight IQ. But he is clearly letting a lot of power on the table, if he learned how to use it better he would’ve probably ripped Usman head off because those are some long weapons he have.

I don't get that perfect, greates physique argument...yes he is fit and looks good. But to say greatest when we have kamaru, tyron woodley and romero in their prime..c'mon
Got to be said he does have very smooth striking here, flows really well from kicks to punches and footwork seems good.
i agree , the flow is different to muay thai theres more movement and different positioning due to take downs, wrestling etc its great to see the striking of elite mma fighters

Siam Boxing got to say I do prefer the thai style flow, I find it more appealing but as you say the striking here from Leon is exactly what is needed for MMA

@HenryDavidT I’m not sure I agree. Wonderboy dispatched of Masvidal and Luque with ease. I’d argue that Edwards has a pretty similar style to them for the most part. WB was also destroying Pettis til the flash KO who is arguable a more explosive fighter than Edwards overall, too.

Leon Edwards is the most underrated fighter in the WW division and one of the most underrated strikers in the UFC, his muay thay is really high level

He would've walked through masvidal, shame that fight never happened. Masvidals best weapons are just the muay Thai staple round kicks etc. Things that Leon is both technically as good at (if not better) but with much greater reach and those deadly elbows too.
No one takes those serious except casuals. Seriously "3 piece and a soda" 😒 shit was corny from the jump. Judas said that just to justify those sucker punches. Finally Leon gets to avenge those coward shots in a couple months

Hard work pays off
One of my favourite fighters in the Welterweight division. He has a really high fight iq with amazing striking and an underrated wrestling. Very well-rounded and he fights very smart. Can't wait for his next fight!

@Paul Maximus he was a muay thai fighter, now a muay thai coach i think he was also a strength and conditioning coach for footballers at one point so hes got some knowledge

His physique is a great example of balance, he has the necessary muscles, not enough, and less missing, I could say that he is the most athletic physique of absolutely all sports, and easy, he could win in a street fight almost all the people in the world (taking out heavier ufc fighters obviously), I think😶🌫️

I don’t think people understand how good he looks on pads to the average Muay Thai fighter. Watching Leon do pads is so clean and beautiful it’s ridiculous
Very nice. The only thing I would sort of fix here is making the back straight punch longer. It's too short. Gotta throw that body into it. More commitment!

This really makes me want to kick my training into overdrive. (No pun intended) I'm an aspiring MMA fighter. Been training for 4 years now in Muay Thai and started Jujitsu last year. Really trying to get better at it.

Never heard of this man until his fight with usman and now I see all the people who had faith in him from years ago. It’s so strange how you never know about amazing fighters even with all their supporters until they beat an even more recognised amazing fighter.
Edit: Now I’m even getting recommended a podcast with Joe Rogan and Leon. It’s sad but another prime example how people only wanna support you majorly when you’re up
