- Southex, producers of CSM, licensed WINTV in 2013 as part of a contract to produce a series of shows showcasing the 'Legends of Chutney'. The 'Legends of Chutney' was going to be a highlight of the annual competition in 2013, and these 'Living Legends' at the time, were being recognized for their contribution at the annual competition. The shows, hosted by Shirvani Sookhai delve into the backgrounds of each artiste and highlights the contribution that they have made to the development of the Indo-Caribbean musical art forms, especially as they are related to Trinidad & Tobago. They are historical in nature and gives a good perspective of the early days of Indo-Caribbean culture in Trinidad & Tobago. Sam Boodram died on 30th June 2020, may he R.I.P. - One of the great 'Legends of Chutney'.

Lord Indra even came, from his heavenly assembly, to rain down flowers.
To see the little one, the sage Narad, Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva also came.

Sam Boodram "The Lion Of Cumuto". Its interesting to know that Pat Mathura gave his the nickname "Lion Of Cumuto" also the harmonium. Another legend, who sang with the greats- Jameer Hosein, Issac Yankaran.... Everybody know Lalana Khoose- call this a religious tune turned into chutney!! When that song blast at a wedding- its time to fete!! For those of you who don't know Mr. Sam Boodram passed due to diabetes. There are many in this category, another legend Boodram Holass is diabetic, so was our prime minister Eric Eustace Williams (1911-1981) & even the Calypso King of the World The Mighty Sparrow. You cant blame them though- thats their generation. As for the children/grandchildren who can read & write and know right from wrong, be careful. Of course, sometimes its not the person's fault either. Like my mother would always remind me- Drink plenty of water, wash out your kidneys. I also forgot Chutney singer Sundar Popo (1943-2000) & even Anand Yankarran (1965-2017) died from kidney & renal failure. As the saying goes "An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure".

Uncle Sam watching this interview and hearing you talk and make joke just bring back so many special memories for me. I remember when you used to come by us and yuh sleeping I would put cutex on yuh fingers and toes and couldn't wait fuh yuh to wake up. We would take walks and go shopping at McCory's. Your name for me I will never forget your "clever" niece. Only you and I know why. I pray that you are resting in peace with my Mummy and smiling down on us. I love you Uncle Sam.
