    Its funny ive been seeing people calling Benny a scam artist yet he has probably inspired many people to learn. For example I am 35 years of age and until a year and a half ago when I came across one of his videos I had given up on language learning. Now after a year and a half I can speak Spanish fluently and I can say a few things in Chinese, French, and Portugese. The last 3 languages I know very minimal though . My point Benny inspired me and gave me the confidence that learning a language is possible. He is positively inspiring people, and unless you can same the same, maybe it says more about you than it does him. Give the guy a break.

    Hes right about the importance of the immersion. If youre learning Italian it helps to have everything in Italian. Like AJATT, but i disagree with the importance of trying to speak right away, in the early stages listen to content in that language is more important but it depends on the persons goals.
    If they are going on a trip in a few weeks then yes they should practice speaking right away, but if the goal is fluency and youre planning on using the language for years to come, you will have more benefit from listening a lot early.
    You cant get *fluent* in 3 months, he must misunderstand what fluent means. He has some videos about being fluent in Japanese in 3 months,
    he knew a lot within that time frame, but his pronunciation was horrible (becuase he was putting too much effort on speaking too early instead of listening) he definitely wasnt fluent.
    C2 level in a language:
    Can understand with ease virtually everything heard or read.
    Can summarize information from different spoken and written sources, reconstructing arguments and accounts in a coherent presentation.
    Can express themselves spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations.

    He is very believable, however all the research says that you don’t learn a language by trying to speak it. When Benny is speaking with someone, he is also listening and it is the listening part that teaches him the language! Input first, output later is best. He obviously doesn’t believe this and that is convenient for selling his books.

    babies don't speak from day one it takes a few months before they start speak simple words and sentences and if you are not familiar with vthe language its music and rhythm you in 99.9 percent cases pronounce words wrong it is also important to speak not by pronouncing single words but blend all words together so that it sounds like music so this way of learning a language which is presented by this guy is really ineffective and it just makes that you'll have to spend more time on correcting your poor pronunciation

      actually its not ineffective adults don't learn the same way babies do

    • @CodyCannon11
      @CodyCannon11 6 років тому +5

      Whoever said babies were the right model for us to choose? Babies learn incredibly slowly in comparison to an adult. Not to mention, if you really wanted to learn like a baby, you wouldn't say anything for several months, until you actually learned your first word. No reading, no writing, only listening. No adult language learner would wish to do this. We like our tools (textbooks, teachers, and exercises) to be more effective. We dont actually learn from scratch. We have our first language to lean on.
      People using the "baby model" to learn a second language forget, that we aren't babies. We actually don't want to waste 1000s of hours passively learning only a few words. Children also speak with poor grammar, take several years to reach a middle schoolers level of reading, and have all of their time to learn the basics of life until they get to kindergarten age. Children mispronounce words all the time too. Adults can learn a language significantly faster than a child, the difference is, most are afraid of sounding stupid. We expect, and so do children, that children will make a mistake, but as an adult we fear our mistakes.
      Adults have the ability to reflect on what didnt work for them in learning a previous skill (instruments, riding a bike, learning a language or throwing a ball). For a baby everything is new.
      So, I have tuned out the "baby model" for the most effective means of learning a language. There are better models, and to dismiss Benny's because he isn't perfect, is kind of silly.

       In the beginning listening is more important. it should be done as much as possible while learning more words. over time you can start to speak more and more because the more words you know, the greater benefit you get by speaking but also the less words you know the greater benefit you get from listening because everything is new input.
      The more you listen, the easier it will be to pick out words that you know, and it will be easier to understand people when they do reply, and its much easier to remember words when you've heard them many times already even if you didn't originally know the meaning.
